1 O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.

إلَهِي أنتَ يا اللهُ. إلَيكَ أشتاقُ. عَطشانٌ إلَيكَ أنا جَسَداً وَرُوحاً، وَكَأنَّنِي فِي أرْضٍ جافَّةٍ قاحِلَةٍ لا ماءَ فِيها.

2 S o I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.

هَكَذا شَعَرتُ حِينَ رَأيتُكَ فِي هَيكَلِكَ. حَيثُ رَأيتُ قُوَّتَكَ وَمَجدَكَ!

3 B ecause Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

رَحمَتُكَ أفضَلُ مِنَ الحَياةِ نَفسِها. تَشتاقُ شَفَتايَ إلَى تَسبِيحِكَ.

4 S o will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

بِحَياتِي سَأُبارِكُكَ، وَبِاسْمِكَ أرْفَعُ يَدَيَّ طالِباً البَرَكَةَ.

5 M y whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips

شَبعانٌ أنا، كَأنِّي تَناوَلتُ دَسَماً كَثِيراً! وَبِشَفَتَينِ فَرِحَتَينِ أُسَبِّحُكَ!

6 W hen I remember You upon my bed and meditate on You in the night watches.

سَأذكُرُكَ عَلَى فِراشِي. وَفِي مُنتَصَفِ اللَّيلِ سَأُفَكِّرُ بِكَ،

7 F or You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.

لأنَّكَ أعَنتَنِي، وَأنا ابتَهَجتُ فِي ظِلِّ جَناحَيكَ.

8 M y whole being follows hard after You and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me.

بِكَ تَتَعَلَّقُ رُوحِي، وَبِيَمِينِكَ تُثَبِّتُنِي.

9 B ut those who seek and demand my life to ruin and destroy it shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

أمّا السّاعُونَ إلَى إهلاكِ نَفسِي، فَسَيُرسَلُونَ إلَى أعماقِ الأرْضِ.

10 T hey shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a prey for foxes and jackals.

بِالسُّيُوفِ سَيُقتَلُونَ. وَسَتَأكُلُهُمُ الثَّعالِبُ.

11 B ut the king shall rejoice in God; everyone who swears by Him shall glory, for the mouths of those who speak lies shall be stopped.

أمّا المَلِكُ، فَبِاللهِ سَيَفرَحُ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ أقسَمَ عَلَى الوَلاءِ لَهُ، سَيُسَبِّحُ اللهَ! لأنَّ الأفواهَ الكاذِبَةَ سَتُسَدُّ.
