1 N ow the Pharisees and Sadducees came up to Jesus, and they asked Him to show them a sign (spectacular miracle) from heaven.

وَجاءَ الفِرِّيسِيُّونَ وَالصَّدُوقِيُّونَ إلَى يَسُوعَ لِيَمتَحِنُوهُ، فَطَلَبُوا إلَيهِ أنْ يُعطيَهُمْ بُرْهاناً عَلَىْ تَأيِيدِ اللهِ لَهُ.

2 H e replied to them, When it is evening you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,

فَأجابَهُمْ يَسُوعُ: «عِندَ مَغِيبِ الشَّمْسِ تَقُولُونَ: ‹سَيَكُونُ الطَّقسُ جَمِيلاً، لِأنَّ السَّماءَ مُحْمَرَّةٌ.›

3 A nd in the morning, It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and has a gloomy and threatening look. You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

وفي الصَّباحِ الباكِرِ، تَقولُونَ: ‹سَيَكونُ اليَومُ عاصِفاً، لأنَّ السَّماءَ مُحْمَرَّةٌ وَمُتَجَهِّمَةٌ.› أنتُمْ تُحسِنُونَ تَفسِيرَ عَلاماتِ المَناخِ، لكِنَّكُمْ لا تُحْسِنونَ فَهْمَ الأزمِنَةَ الَّتِي تَعِيشُونَ فِيها!

4 A wicked and morally unfaithful generation craves a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Then He left them and went away.

هَذا الجِيلُ الشِّرِّيرُ الفاسِقُ يَبحَثُ عَنْ بُرهانٍ لِكَي يُؤمِنَ. وَلَنْ يُعطَى إلّا بُرْهانَ يُونانَ.» ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُمْ يَسُوعُ وَابتَعَدَ عَنْهُمْ. عَدَمُ الفَهم

5 W hen the disciples reached the other side of the sea, they found that they had forgotten to bring any bread.

وَعَبَرَ تَلامِيذَ يَسُوعَ إلَى الجِهَةٍ الأُخرَى مِنَ البُحَيرَةِ، لَكِنَّهُمْ نَسَوا أنْ يُحْضِرُوا خُبْزاً.

6 J esus said to them, Be careful and on your guard against the leaven (ferment) of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

وَقالَ لَهُمْ يَسُوعُ: «احذَرُوا وَاحتَرِسُوا مِنْ خَمِيرَةِ الفِرِّيسِيِّينَ وَالصَّدُوقِيِّينَ.»

7 A nd they reasoned among themselves about it, saying, It is because we did not bring any bread.

فَابتَدَأ التَّلامِيذُ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ وَيَقولونَ فِي ما بَينَهُمْ: «لَكِنَّنا لَمْ نُحضِرْ خُبزاً!»

8 B ut Jesus, aware of this, asked, Why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? O you little faith!

فَعَرَفَ يَسُوعُ ما كانُوا يَقُولُونَهُ، وَقالَ لَهُمْ: «يا قَلِيلِي الإيمانِ، لِماذا تَتَجادَلونَ فِي ما بَينَكُمْ حَولَ عَدَمِ وُجودِ خُبْزٍ؟

9 D o you not yet discern (perceive and understand)? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many '> small hand] baskets you gathered?

ألَمْ تُدرِكُوا بَعْدُ؟ ألا تَذكُرُونَ الأرغِفَةَ الخَمسَةَ لِلخَمسَةِ آلافٍ، وَكَمْ سَلَّةً جَمَعْتُمْ مِنَ الكِسَرِ؟

10 N or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many '> large provision] baskets you took up?

ألا تَذكُرُونَ الأرغِفَةَ السَّبعَةَ لِلأربَعَةِ آلافٍ، وَكَمْ سَلَّةً جَمَعْتُمْ مِنَ الكِسَرِ؟

11 H ow is it that you fail to understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But beware of the leaven (ferment) of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

لِماذا لا تَفهَمُونَ أنَّنِي لَمْ أكُنْ أتَكَلَّمُ مَعَكُمْ عَنِ الخُبزِ العادِيِّ، بَلْ كُنتُ أُحَذِّرُكُمْ لِكَي تَحفَظُوا أنفُسَكُمْ مِنْ خَمِيرَةِ الفِرِّيسِيِّينَ وَالصَّدُوقِيِّينَ.»

12 T hen they discerned that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

حِينَئِذٍ فَهِمَ تَلامِيذُهُ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَقصِدْ أنْ يُحَذِّرَهُمْ مِنْ خَمِيرَةِ الخُبْزِ، بَلْ مِنْ تَعلِيمِ الفِرِّيسِيِّينَ وَالصَّدُوقِيِّينَ. بُطرُسُ يُعلِنُ أنَّ يَسُوعَ هُوَ المَسِيح

13 N ow when Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, Who do people say that the Son of Man is?

وَعِندَما أتَى يَسُوعُ إلَى إقليمِ قَيصَرِيَّةِ فِيلِبُّسَ، سَألَ تَلامِيذَهُ: «مَنْ يَقُولُ النّاسُ إنِّي أنا، ابْنَ الإنسانِ؟»

14 A nd they answered, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

فَأجابَ تَلامِيذُهُ: «بَعضُهُمْ يَقُولُ إنَّكَ يُوحَنّا المَعْمَدانُ، وَآخَرُونَ إنَّكَ إيلِيّا، وَآخَرُونَ إنَّكَ إرمِيا، أوْ نَبِيٌّ كَباقِي الأنبِياءِ.»

15 H e said to them, But who do you say that I am?

فَقالَ لَهُمْ: «وَأنتُمْ، مَنْ أنا فِي رَأيِكُمْ؟»

16 S imon Peter replied, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

فَأجابَ سِمعانُ بُطرُسُ: «أنتَ هُوَ المَسِيحُ، ابْنُ اللهِ الحَيِّ.»

17 T hen Jesus answered him, Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are you, Simon Bar-Jonah. For flesh and blood have not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in heaven.

فَأجابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «هَنِيئاً لَكَ يا سِمعانُ بْنَ يُونا، لِأنَّ مَنْ أعلَنَ لَكَ ذَلِكَ لَيسَ إنسانٌ، بَلْ هُوَ أبِي الَّذِي فِي السَّماءِ.

18 A nd I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock '> huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it.

وَأقُولُ لَكَ إنَّكَ بُطرُسُ، وَعَلَى هَذِهِ الصَّخرَةِ أبنِي كَنِيسَتِي، وَأبوابُ الهاوِيَةِ لَنْ تَقدِرَ أنْ تَهزِمَها.

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.

وَسَأُعطِيكَ مَفاتِيحَ مَلَكُوتِ السَّماواتِ، فَكُلُّ ما تَربِطُهُ عَلَى الأرْضِ فَإنَّ اللهَ سَيَربِطُهُ فِي السَّماءِ، وَكُلُّ ما تَحُلُّهُ عَلَى الأرْضِ، فَإنَّ اللهَ سَيَحُلُّهُ فِي السَّماءِ.»

20 T hen He sternly and strictly charged and warned the disciples to tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

ثُمَّ نَبَّهَ تَلامِيذَهُ بِشِدَّةٍ أنْ لا يُخبِرُوا أحَداً إنَّهُ هُوَ المَسِيحُ. يَسُوعُ يَتَكَلَّمُ عَنْ حَتْميَّةِ مَوتِه

21 F rom that time forth Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders and the high priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised from death.

مِنْ ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ فَصاعِداً، ابتَدَأ يَسُوعُ يَشرَحُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ أنَّهُ يَنبَغي أنْ يَذهَبَ إلَى مَدِينَةِ القَدسِ، وَأنْ يُعانِيَ أشياءَ كَثِيرَةً مِنَ الشُّيُوخِ وَكِبارِ الكَهَنَةِ وَمُعَلِّمِيْ الشَّريعَةِ. كَما يَنبَغِي أنْ يُقتَلَ وَيُقامَ فِي اليَومِ الثّالِثِ.

22 T hen Peter took Him aside to speak to Him privately and began to reprove and charge Him sharply, saying, God forbid, Lord! This must never happen to You!

أمّا بُطرُسُ فَقَدْ أخَذَ يَسُوعَ جانِباً وَابْتَدَأ يُوَبِّخُهُ وَيَقولُ: «لا سَمَحَ اللهُ بِذَلِكَ يا سَيِّدُ! لَنْ يَحدُثَ لَكَ هَذا أبَداً!»

23 B ut Jesus turned away from Peter and said to him, Get behind Me, Satan! You are in My way; for you are minding what partakes not of the nature and quality of God, but of men.

فَالتَفَتَ يَسُوعُ وَقالَ لِبُطرُسَ: «ابتَعِدْ عَنِّي يا شَيطانُ! أنتَ عائقٌ أمامِي لأنَّكَ لا تَهتَمُّ لِأُمُورِ اللهِ، بَلْ لِأُمُورِ البَشَرِ.»

24 T hen Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me '> cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].

ثُمَّ قالَ يَسُوعُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ: «إذا أرادَ أحَدٌ أنْ يَأتِيَ مَعِي، فَلا بُدَّ أنْ يُنكِرَ نَفسَهُ، وَأنْ يَرفَعَ الصَّلِيبَ المُعطَى لَهُ وَيَتبَعَنِي.

25 F or whoever is bent on saving his life shall lose it; and whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.

فَمَنْ يُرِيدُ أنْ يُخَلِّصَ حَياتَهُ، سَيَخسَرُها. أمّا مَنْ يَخسَرُ حَياتَهُ مِنْ أجلِي، فَسَيُجِدُها.

26 F or what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life '> life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his life ?

ماذا يَنتَفِعُ الإنسانُ لَوْ رَبِحَ العالَمَ كُلَّهُ، وَخَسِرَ نَفسَهُ؟ وَماذا يَستَطِيعُ الإنسانُ لِيَستَرِدَّ حَياتَهُ؟

27 F or the Son of Man is going to come in the glory (majesty, splendor) of His Father with His angels, and then He will render account and reward every man in accordance with what he has done.

لِأنَّ ابْنَ الإنسانِ سَيَأتِي فِي مَجدِ أبِيهِ مَعَ مَلائِكَتِهِ، وَسَيُجازِي كُلَّ واحِدٍ بِحَسَبِ أعمالِهِ.

28 T ruly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in (into) His kingdom.

أقُولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ، إنَّ مِنْ بَينِ الواقِفِينَ هُنا أشخاصاً لَنْ يَذُوقُوا المَوتَ قَبلَ أنْ يَرَوا ابْنَ الإنسانِ آتِياً فِي مَلَكُوتِهِ.»
