1 T hen all Israel gathered at Hebron and said to David, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

ثُمَّ اجتَمَعَ كُلُّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ مَعَ داوُدَ فِي حَبْرُونَ وَقالُوا: «نَحْنُ لَحمُكَ وَدَمُكَ.

2 I n times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord your God said to you, You shall be shepherd of My people Israel, and you shall be prince and leader over.

وَنَحنُ نَعرِفُ أنَّكَ أنتَ الَّذِي قُدْتَ إسْرائِيلَ فِي مَعارِكِها، حَتَّى فِي الماضِي عِندَما كانَ شاوُلُ مَلِكاً عَلَيْنا. فَقالَ لَكَ إلَهُكَ إنَّكَ سَتَرعَى شَعبِي إسْرائِيلَ، وَسَتَكُونُ حاكِماً عَلَى شَعبِي إسْرائِيلَ.»

3 S o all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them there before the Lord, and they anointed king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through Samuel.

جاءَ كُلُّ قادَةِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ إلَى المَلِكِ فِي حَبْرُونَ، وَقَطَعَ داوُدُ مَعَهُمْ عَهْداً فِي حَضرَةِ اللهِ. ثُمَّ مَسَحَ القادَةُ داوُدَ مَلِكاً عَلَى إسْرائِيلَ كَما قالَ اللهُ سابِقاً عَلَى فَمِ صَمُوئِيلَ. داوُدُ يَستَولِي عَلَى مَدِينَةِ القُدْس

4 A nd David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, that is Jebus, where the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were.

وَذَهَبَ داوُدُ وَكُلُّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ إلَى مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ، أي يَبُوسَ، حَيثُ كانَ اليَبُوسِيُّونَ، وَهُمْ سُكّانُ الأرْضِ الأصلِيُّونَ، مازالُوا يَسْكُنُونَ.

5 T hen the Jebusites said to David, You shall not come in here! But David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the City of David.

فَقالَ أهلُ يَبُوسَ لِداوُدَ: «لا يُمْكِنُكَ أنْ تَدْخُلَ مَدينَتَنا.» لَكِنَّ داوُدَ اسْتَولَى عَلَى حِصْنِ صِهْيَوْنَ، الَّذِي يُدْعَى الآنَ: «مَدِينَةَ داوُدَ.»

6 A nd David said, Whoever smites the Jebusites first shall be chief and commander. Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and so he was made chief.

وَقالَ داوُدُ: «سَأُعَيِّنُ أوَّلَ مَنْ يُهاجِمُ اليَبُوسِيِّينَ رَئِيساً وَآمِراً لِلجَيشِ.» فَصَعِدَ يُوآبُ بنُ صُرُوِيَّةَ أوَّلاً فَصارَ رَئِيساً.

7 D avid dwelt in the stronghold; so it was called the City of David.

وَجَعَلَ داوُدُ الحِصْنَ مَسْكَناً لَهُ، لِذَلِكَ سُمِّيَ مَدِينَةُ داوُدَ.

8 H e built the city from the Millo on around; and Joab repaired and revived the rest of the city.

وَبَنَى داوُدُ المَدِينَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَوانِبِها، مِنَ مِلُّو فَما حَولَها. وَرَمَّمَ يُوآبُ بَقِيَّةَ المَدِينَةِ.

9 A nd David became greater and greater, for the Lord of hosts was with him.

وَكانَتْ قُوَّةُ داوُدَ تَزْدادُ شَيْئاً فَشَيْئاً، لأنَّ اللهَ القَدِيرَ كانَ مَعَهُ. رِجالُ داوُدَ الأبْطال

10 N ow these are the chiefs of David’s mighty men, who strongly supported him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ قادَةُ داوُدَ المُحارِبُونَ الَّذِينَ دَعَمُوهُ لجَعلِهِ مَلِكاً عَلَى كُلِّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، حَسَبَ كَلامِ اللهِ بِخُصُوصِ إسْرائِيلَ.

11 A nd this is the number of David’s mighty men: Jashobeam, a Hachmonite, the chief of the Thirty. He lifted up his spear against 300, whom he slew at one time.

وَهَذِهِ قائِمَةٌ بِمُحارِبِي داوُدَ: يَشُبَعامُ بْنُ حَكْمُونِي، رَئِيسُ قُوّاتِ المَلِكِ الخاصَّةِ. وَقَدِ اسْتَخدَمَ رُمْحَهُ ضِدَّ ثَلاثِ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ فَقَتَلَهُمْ جَمِيعاً فِي مَعْرَكَةٍ واحِدَةٍ.

12 N ext to him in rank was Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men.

وَيأتِي بَعْدَهُ مَرتَبَةً ألِعازَرُ بْنُ دُودُو الأخُوخِي، وَهُوَ أحَدُ المُحارِبِينَ الثَّلاثَةِ.

13 H e was with David at Pas-dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered for battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley or lentils; and the men fled before the Philistines.

وَكانَ مَعَ داوُدَ فِي فَسَّ دَمِّيمَ عِندَما احتَشَدَ الفِلِسْطِيُّونَ هُناكَ لَلمَعرَكَةِ. وَكانَ جُزءٌ مِنَ الحَقلِ مَملُوءاً بِالشَّعِيرِ، وَكانَ الشَّعبُ قَدْ هَرَبَ مِنَ الفِلِسْطِيِّينَ،

14 A nd Eleazar stood in the midst of that plot and defended it and slew the Philistines, and the Lord saved by a great victory and deliverance.

لَكِنَّ ألِعازَرَ وَرِجالَهُ أخَذُوا مَواقِعَهُمْ فِي مُنتَصَفِ الحَقلِ، وَدافَعُوا عَنْهُ، وَهَزَمُوا الفِلِسْطِيِّينَ. وَهَكَذا حَقَّقَ اللهُ نَصْراً عَظِيماً.

15 T hree of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam, and the army of the Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

وَذاتَ مَرَّةٍ، زَحَفَ رُؤَساءُ الفِرَقِ الثُّلاثِيَّةِ طُولَ الطَّرِيقِ إلَى داوُدَ فِي المَلْجَأِ، فِي كَهْفِ عَدُلّامَ، بَينَما كانَ الفِلِسْطِيُّونَ يُعَسْكِرُونَ فِي وادِي رَفايِيمَ.

16 D avid was then in the stronghold, and the Philistines’ garrison was in Bethlehem.

وَفِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ، كانَ داوُدُ فِي الحِصْنِ الجَبَلِيِّ، بَينَما كانَتْ حامِيَةٌ فِلِسْطِيَّةٌ فِي بَيتَ لَحْمَ.

17 A nd David longingly said, Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem which is by the gate!

وَقالَ داوُدُ بِحَنِينٍ: «أتَمَنَّى لَو يُعْطِيَني أحَدٌ بَعْضَ الماءِ مِنَ البِئْرِ الَّتِي بِالقرُبِ مِنْ بوَّابَةِ بَيْتَ لَحْمَ!»

18 T hen the Three broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem which was by the gate and brought it to David. But David would not drink it; he poured it out to the Lord,

فَشَقَّ الأبطالَ الثَّلاثَةَ طريقَهُمْ عَبْرَ صُفوفِ الجَيشِ الفِلِسْطيِّ، وَنَشَلُوا بَعْضَ الماءِ مِنْ البِئْرِ الَّتِي بِالقُرْبِ مِنْ بوّابةِ بَيْتَ لَحْمَ، وَجاءُوا بِهِ إلَى داوُدَ. فَرَفَضَ أنْ يَشْرَبَ مِنْهُ، بَلْ سَكبَهُ تَقْدِمَةً للهِ.

19 A nd said, My God forbid that I should do this thing. Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy? For at the risk of their lives they brought it. So he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

وقالَ: «لا سَمَحَ اللهُ! كَيفَ أشْرَبُ مِنْ هَذا الماءَ. فَكأنَّني أشْرَبُ دَمَ هَؤُلاءِ الرِّجالِ الّذين خَاطَرُوا بِحَياتِهِمْ مِنْ أجلِي.» فَرَفَضَ داوُدُ أنْ يَشْرَبَ الماءَ. وَقَدْ فَعَلَ الأبطالُ الثَّلاثَةُ كَثِيراً مِنَ البُطُولاتِ. أبطالٌ آخَرُون

20 A bishai the brother of Joab was chief of the Three. For he lifted up his spear against 300 and slew them, and was named among the Three.

وَكانَ أبِيشايُ أخُو يُوآبَ قائِدَ الأبْطالِ الثَّلاثةِ. حارَبَ بِرُمْحِهِ ثَلاثَ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ فَقَتَلَهُمْ، فَذاعَ صِيتُهُ بَيْنَ الثَّلاثَةِ.

21 O f the Three he was more renowned than the two, and became their captain; however, he attained not to the first three.

وَكانَ أبِيشايُ أشْهَرَ مِنَ الأبطالِ الثَّلاثةِ. وَصارَ قائِداً عَلَيهِمْ، مَعَ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ واحِداً مِنْهُمْ.

22 B enaiah son of Jehoiada, whose father was a valiant man of Kabzeel, had done mighty deeds. He slew the two sons of Ariel of Moab. Also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in time of snow.

ثُمَّ هُناكَ بَناياهُو بْنُ يَهُوياداعَ، وهو ابنُ رجُلٍ قوِيٍّ مِنْ قَبْصِيئيلَ. قامَ بَناياهُو بِأعْمالَ شُجاعةٍ كَثيرةٍ. فَقَتَلَ ابْنَي آرِيلَ المُوآبي. وفي أحَدِ الأيّامِ، بَينَما كانَ الثَّلْجُ يتساقَطُ، دَخَلَ بَناياهُو حُفْرَةً فِي الأرْضِ وَقَتَلَ أسَداً.

23 H e slew an Egyptian also, a man of great stature, five cubits tall. The Egyptian held a spear like a weaver’s beam, and went to him with a staff and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and slew him with the man’s own spear.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ المِصْرِيَّ الَّذِي بَلَغَ طُولُهُ خَمْسَ أذْرُعٍ. كانَ المِصْريُّ يَحْمِلُ في يدِهِ رُمْحاً، أمّا بَناياهُو فَكانَ يَحْمِلُ عَصاً ليسَ إلّا. فَخَطَفَ الرُّمحَ الذي كانَ فِي يَدِ المِصْريِّ وَأخَذَهُ منْهُ. ثُمَّ قَتَلَ بَناياهُو المِصْريَّ برُمْحِهِ هُوَ.

24 T hese things did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and won a name beside the three mighty men.

قامَ بَناياهُو بنُ يَهُوياداعْ بِأعْمالٍ كَثيرةٍ شُجاعةٍ كَهَذِهِ. وَكانَ مَشْهوراً كَالأبطالِ الثَّلاثَةِ، لَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يُصبِحْ واحِداً منهُم.

25 H e was renowned among the Thirty, but he did not attain to the rank of the first three. David put him over his guard and council.

بَلْ إنَّهُ كانَ أكثرَ شُهرةً منَ الأبْطالِ الثّلاثين لكِنَّهُ لَمْ يصبحْ واحِداً من الأبطالِ الثَّلاثَةِ. وَقدْ جَعَلَ داوُدَ بَناياهُو قائِدَ حَرَسِهِ الخاصِّ. الأبطالُ الثَلاثُون

26 A lso the mighty men of the armies were: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

وَالمُحارِبُونَ الشُّجعانُ هُمْ: عَسائِيلُ أخُو يُوآبَ، وَألْحانانُ بْنُ دُودُو مِنْ بَيْتَ لَحْمَ،

27 S hammoth of Harod, Helez the Pelonite,

وَشَمُّوتُ الهَرُورِيُّ، وَحالَصُ الفَلُونِيُّ،

28 I ra son of Ikkesh of Tekoa, Abiezer of Anathoth,

وَعِيرا بْنُ عِقِّيشَ التَّقُوعِيِّ، وَأبِيعَزَرُ العَناثُوثِيُّ،

29 S ibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

وَسِبْكايُ الحُوشاتِيُّ، وَعِيلايُ الأخُوخِيُّ،

30 M aharai of Netophah, Heled son of Baanah of Netophah,

وَمَهْرايُ النَّطُوفاتِيُّ، وَخالِدُ بْنُ بَعْنَةَ النَّطُوفاتِيُّ،

31 I thai son of Ribai of Gibeah of the Benjamites, Benaiah of Pirathon,

وَإتّايُ بْنَ رِيبايَ مِنْ جِبْعَةِ بَنْيامِيْنَ، وَبَنايا الفَرْعَتُونِيُّ،

32 H urai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

وَحُورايُ مِنْ أودِيَةِ جاعَشَ، وَأبِيئِيلُ العَرَباتِيُّ،

33 A zmaveth of Baharum, Eliahba of Shaalbon,

وَعَزْمُوتُ البَحْرُومِيُّ، وَإلْيَحْبا الشَّعَلْبُونِيُّ،

34 T he sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan son of Shagee the Hararite,

وَأبناءُ هاشِمَ الجَزُونِيَّ، وَيُوناثانُ بْنُ شاجايَ الهَرارِيِّ،

35 A hiam son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal son of Ur,

وَأخِيآمُ بْنُ ساكارَ الهَرارِيُّ، وَألِيفالُ بْنُ أُورَ،

36 H epher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

وَحافِرُ المَكِيراتِيُّ، وَأخِيا الفَلُونِيُّ،

37 H ezro of Carmel, Naarai son of Ezbai,

وَحَصْرُو الكَرْمِلِيُّ، وَنَعْرايُ بْنُ أزْبايَ،

38 J oel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Hagri,

وَيُوئِيلُ أخُو ناثانَ، وَمِبْحارُ بْنُ هَجْرِي،

39 Z elek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,

وَصالِقُ العَمُّونِيُّ، وَنَحْرايُ البَئِيرُوتِيُّ – وَهُوَ حامِلُ سِلاحِ يُوآبَ بنِ صُرُوِيَّةَ –

40 I ra the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

وَعِيرا اليَثْرِيُّ، وَجارِبُ اليَثْرِيُّ،

41 U riah the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai,

وَأُورِيّا الحِثِّيُّ، وَزابادُ بْنُ أحلايَ،

42 A dina son of Shiza, a leader of the Reubenites, and thirty heroes with him,

وَعَدِينا بْنُ شِيزا الرَأُوبَيْنِيُّ – وَهُوَ مِنْ رُؤَساءِ الرَأُوبَيْنِيِّينَ، وَمَعَهُ ثَلاثُونَ –

43 H anan son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,

وَحانانُ بْنُ مَعْكَةَ، وَيُوشافاطُ المِثْنِيُّ،

44 U zzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

وَعُزِّيّا العَشْتارُوثِيُّ، وَشاماعُ وَيَعُوئيلُ ابْنا حُوثامَ العَرُوعِيرِيُّ،

45 J ediael son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,

وَيَدِيعَئِيلُ بْنُ شَمْرِي، وَأخُوهُ يُوحا التَّيصِيُّ،

46 E liel the Mahavite, Jeribai and Joshaviah sons of Elnaam, Ithmah the Moabite,

وَإيلِيئِيلُ المَحوِيُّ، وَيَرِيبايُ وَيُوشُويا ابْنا ألْنَعَمَ، وَيِثْمَةُ المُوآبِيُّ،

47 E liel, Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.

وَإيلِيئِيلُ، وَعُوبِيدُ، وَيَعِسِيئِيلُ المَصُوباوِيُّ.
