1 D epois daquela praga disse o Senhor a Moisés e a Eleazar, filho do sacerdote Arão:

After the very bad disease came on the people because of Israel’s sin, the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar the son of Aaron the religious leader,

2 T omai a soma de toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, da idade de vinte anos para cima, segundo as casas e seus pais, todos os que em Israel podem sair ã guerra.

“Add the numbers of all the people of Israel who are twenty years old and older, by their fathers’ houses. Number whoever in Israel is able to go to war.”

3 F alaram-lhes, pois, Moisés e Eleazar o sacerdote, nas planícies de Moabe, junto ao Jordão, na altura de Jericó, dizendo:

So Moses and Eleazar the religious leader said to the people in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho,

4 C ontai o povo da idade de vinte anos para cima; como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés e aos filhos de Israel que saíram da terra do Egito.

“Number the people who are twenty years old and older, as the Lord has told Moses.” Now these were the sons of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt.

5 R úben, o primogênito de Israel; os filhos de Rúben: de Hanoque, a família dos hanoquitas; de Palu, a família dos paluítas;

Reuben was the first-born son of Israel. Reuben’s sons were the family of the Hanochites from Hanoch, the family of the Palluites from Pallu,

6 d e Hezrom, a família dos hezronitas; de Carmi, a família dos carmitas.

the family of the Hezronites from Hezron, and the family of the Carmites from Carmi.

7 E stas são as famílias dos rubenitas; os que foram deles contados eram quarenta e três mil setecentos e trinta.

These are the families of the Reubenites, and their number was 43, 730.

8 E o filho de Palu: Eliabe.

Eliab was the son of Pallu.

9 O s filhos de Eliabe: Nemuel, Dato e Abirão. Estes são aqueles Datã e Abirão que foram chamados da congregação, os quais contenderam contra Moisés e contra Arão na companhia de Corá, quando contenderam contra o Senhor,

The sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These are Dathan and Abiram who were chosen by the people and who joined with Korah to argue against Moses and Aaron. They argued against the Lord,

10 e a terra abriu a boca, e os tragou juntamente com Corá, quando pereceu aquela companhia; quando o fogo devorou duzentos e cinqüenta homens, os quais serviram de advertência.

and the earth opened its mouth and took them together with Korah, when that group died. The fire destroyed 250 men, and taught others to be careful.

11 T odavia os filhos de Corá não morreram.

But the sons of Korah did not die.

12 O s filhos de Simeão, segundo as suas famílias: de Nemuel, a família dos nemuelitas; de Jamim, a família dos jaminitas; de Jaquim, a família dos jaquinitas;

The sons of Simeon by their families were the family of the Nemuelites from Nemuel, the family of the Jaminites from Jamin, the family of the Jachinites from Jachin,

13 d e Zerá, a família dos zeraítas; de Saul, a família dos saulitas.

the family of the Zerahites from Zerah, and the family of the Shaulites from Shaul.

14 E stas são as famílias dos simeonitas, vinte e dois mil e duzentos.

These are the families of the Simeonites, 22, 200 people.

15 O s filhos de Gade, segundo as suas famílias: de Zefom, a família dos zefonitas; de Hagui, a família dos haguitas; de Suni, a família dos sunitas;

The sons of Gad by their families were the family of the Zephonites from Zephon, the family of the Haggites from Haggi, the family of the Shunites from Shuni,

16 d e Ozni, a família dos oznitas; de Eri, a família dos eritas;

the family of the Oznites from Ozni, the family of the Erites from Eri,

17 d e Arode, a família dos aroditas; de Areli, a família dos arelitas.

the family of the Arodites from Arod, and the family of the Arelites from Areli.

18 E stas são as famílias dos filhos de Gade, segundo os que foram deles contados, quarenta mil e quinhentos.

These are the families of the sons of Gad. Their number was 40, 500.

19 O s filhos de Judá: Er e Onã; mas Er e Onã morreram na terra de Canaã.

The sons of Judah were Er and Onan. But Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.

20 A ssim os filhos de Judá, segundo as suas famílias, eram: de Selá, a família dos selanitas; de Pérez, a família dos perezitas; de Zerá, a família dos zeraítas.

The sons of Judah by their families were the family of the Shelanites from Shelah, the family of the Perezites from Perez, and the family of the Zerahites from Zerah.

21 E os filhos de Pérez eram: de Hezrom, a família dos hezronitas; de Hamul, a família dos hamulitas.

The sons of Perez were the family of the Hezronites from Hezron, and the family of the Hamulites from Hamul.

22 E stas são as famílias de Judá, segundo os que foram deles contados, setenta e seis mil e quinhentos.

These are the families of Judah. Their number was 76, 500.

23 O s filhos de Issacar, segundo as suas famílias: de Tola, a família dos tolaítas; de Puva, a família dos puvitas;

The sons of Issachar by their families were the family of the Tolaites from Tola, the family of the Punites from Puvah,

24 d e Jasube, a família dos jasubitas; de Sinrom, a família dos sinronitas.

the family of the Jashubites from Jashub, and the family of the Shimronites from Shimron.

25 E stas são as famílias de Issacar, segundo os que foram deles contados, sessenta e quatro mil e trezentos:

These are the families of Issachar. Their number was 64, 300.

26 O s filhos de Zebulom, segundo as suas famílias: de Serede, a família dos sereditas; de Elom, a família dos elonitas; de Jaleel, a família dos jaleelitas.

The sons of Zebulun by their families were the family of the Seredites from Sered, the family of the Elonites from Elon, and the family of the Jahleelites from Jahleel.

27 E stas são as famílias dos zebulonitas, segundo os que foram deles contados, sessenta mil e quinhentos.

These are the families of the Zebulunites. Their number was 60, 500.

28 O s filhos de José, segundo as suas familias: Manassés e Efraim.

The sons of Joseph by their families were Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 O s filhos de Manassés: de Maquir, a família dos maquiritas; e Maquir gerou a Gileade; de Gileade, a família dos gileaditas.

The sons of Manasseh were the family of the Machirites from Machir, and the family of the Gileadites from Gilead. Machir was the father of Gilead.

30 E stes são os filhos de Gileade: de Iezer, a família dos iezritas; de Heleque, a família dos helequitas;

The sons of Gilead were the family of the Iezerites from Iezer, the family of the Helekites from Helek,

31 d e Asriel, a família dos asrielitas; de Siquém, a família dos siquemitas;

the family of the Asrielites from Asriel, the family of the Shechemites from Shechem,

32 e de Semida, a família dos semidaítas; e de Hefer, a família dos heferitas.

the family of the Shemidaites from Shemida, and the family of the Hepherites from Hepher.

33 O ra, Zelofeade, filho de Hefer, não tinha filhos, senão filhas; e as filhas de Zelofeade chamavam-se Macla, Noa, Hogla, Milca e Tirza.

Hepher’s son Zelophehad had no sons, but only daughters. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

34 E stas são as famílias de Manassés; os que foram deles contados, eram cinqüenta e dois mil e setecentos.

These were the families of Manasseh. Their number was 52, 700.

35 E stes são os filhos de Efraim, segundo as suas famílias: de Sutela, a família dos sutelaítas; de Bequer, a família dos bequeritas; de Taã, a família dos taanitas.

The sons of Ephraim by their families were the family of the Shuthelaites from Shuthelah, the family of the Becherites from Becher, and the family of the Tahanites from Tahan.

36 E estes são os filhos de Sutela: de Erã, a família dos eranitas.

The sons of Shuthelah were the family of the Eranites from Eran.

37 E stas são as famílias dos filhos de Efraim, segundo os que foram deles contados, trinta e dois mil e quinhentos. Estes são os filhos de José, segundo as suas famílias.

These are the families of the sons of Ephraim. Their number was 32, 500. These are the sons of Joseph by their families.

38 O s filhos de Benjamim, segundo as suas famílias: de Belá, a família dos belaítas; de Asbel, a família dos asbelitas; de Airão, a família dos airamitas;

The sons of Benjamin by their families were the family of the Belaites from Bela, the family of the Ashbelites from Ashbel, the family of the Ahiramites from Ahiram,

39 d e Sefufã, a família dos sufamitas; de Hufão, a família dos hufamitas.

the family of the Shuphamites from Shupham, and the family of the Huphamites from Hupham.

40 E os filhos de Belá eram Arde e Naamã: de Arde a família dos arditas; de Naamã, a família dos naamitas.

The sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman, the family of the Ardites from Ard, and the family of the Naamites from Naaman.

41 E stes são os filhos de Benjamim, segundo as suas famílias; os que foram deles contados, eram quarenta e cinco mil e seiscentos.

These are the sons of Benjamin by their families. Their number was 45, 600.

42 E stes são os filhos de Dã, segundo as suas famílias: de Suão a família dos suamitas. Estas são as famílias de Dã, segundo as suas famílias.

The sons of Dan by their families were the family of the Shuhamites from Shuham. These are the families of Dan by their families.

43 T odas as famílias dos suamitas, segundo os que foram deles contados, eram sessenta e quatro mil e quatrocentos.

44 O s filhos de Aser, segundo as suas famílias: de Imná, a família dos imnitas; de Isvi, a família dos isvitas; de Berias, a família dos beritas.

The sons of Asher by their families were the family of the Imnites from Imnah, the family of the Ishvites from Ishvi, and the family of the Beriites from Beriah.

46 E a filha de Aser chamava-se Sera.

The name of Asher’s daughter was Serah.

47 E stas são as famílias dos filhos de Aser, segundo os que foram deles contados, cinqüenta e três mil e quatrocentos.

48 O s filhos de Naftali, segundo as suas famílias: de Jazeel, a família dos jazeelitas; de Guni, a família dos gunitas;

The sons of Naphtali by their families were the family of the Jahzeelites from Jahzeel, the family of the Gunites from Guni,

49 d e Jezer, a família dos jezeritas; de Silém, a família dos silemitas.

the family of the Jezerites from Jezer, and the family of the Shillemites from Shillem.

50 E stas são as famílias de Naftali, segundo as suas famílias; os que foram deles contados, eram quarenta e cinco mil e quatrocentos.

These are the families of Naphtali by their families. Their number was 45, 400.

51 E stes são os que foram contados dos filhos de Israel, seiscentos e um mil setecentos e trinta.

Those who were numbered of the sons of Israel were 601, 730.

52 D isse mais o senhor a Moisés:

The Lord said to Moses,

53 A estes se repartirá a terra em herança segundo o número dos nomes.

“The land will be divided among these people by the number of names.

54 Â tribo de muitos darás herança maior, e ã de poucos darás herança menor; a cada qual se dará a sua herança segundo os que foram deles contados.

Give more land to the larger group. Give less land to the smaller group. Each family should be given land by the number of its people.

55 T odavia a terra se repartirá por sortes; segundo os nomes das tribos de seus pais a herdarão.

But the land should be divided by drawing names. They will receive their land by the names of the families of their fathers.

56 S egundo sair a sorte, se repartirá a herança deles entre as tribos de muitos e as de poucos.

The land will be divided between the larger and smaller groups by the names that are drawn.”

57 T ambém estes são os que foram contados dos levitas, segundo as suas famílias: de Gérson, a família dos gersonitas; de Coate, a família dos coatitas; de Merári, a família os meraritas.

Those who were numbered of the Levites by their families were the family of the Gershonites from Gershon, the family of the Kohathites from Kohath, and the family of the Merarites from Merari.

58 E stas são as famílias de Levi: a família dos libnitas, a família dos hebronitas, a família dos malitas, a família dos musitas, a família dos coraítas. Ora, Coate gerou a Anrão.

The families of Levi were the Libnites, the Hebronites, the Mahlites, the Mushites, and the Korahites. Kohath was the father of Amram.

59 E a mulher de Anrão chamava-se Joquebede, filha de Levi, a qual nasceu a Levi no Egito; e de Anrão ela teve Arão e Moisés, e Miriã, irmã deles.

The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi. She was born to Levi in Egypt. And she gave birth to Amram’s children, Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.

60 E a Arão nasceram Nadabe e Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.

Aaron was the father of Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

61 M as Nadabe e Abiú morreram quando ofereceram fogo estranho perante o Senhor.

But Nadab and Abihu died when they burned fire that was not holy before the Lord.

62 E os que foram deles contados eram vinte e três mil, todos os homens da idade de um mês para cima; porque não foram contados entre os filhos de Israel, porquanto não lhes foi dada herança entre os filhos de Israel.

The number of all of their males a month old and older was 23, 000. For they were not numbered among the people of Israel, because no land was given to them among the people of Israel.

63 E sses são os que foram contados por Moisés e Eleazar, o sacerdote, que contaram os filhos de Israel nas planícies de Moabe, junto ao Jordão, na altura de Jericó.

These are the people who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the religious leader. They numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

64 E ntre esses, porém, não se achava nenhum daqueles que tinham sido contados por Moisés e Arão, o sacerdote, quando contaram os filhos de Israel no deserto de Sinai.

But among all these was not one of those numbered by Moses and Aaron the religious leader when the people of Israel were numbered in the Desert of Sinai.

65 P orque o senhor dissera deles: Certamente morrerão no deserto; pelo que nenhum deles ficou, senão Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e Josué, filho de Num.

For the Lord had said of them, “For sure they will die in the desert.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
