1 O ra, Abraão tomou outra mulher, que se chamava Quetura.

Abraham took another wife whose name was Keturah.

2 E la lhe deu ã luz a Zinrã, Jocsã, Medã, Midiã, Isbaque e Suá.

She gave birth to his sons, Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 J ocsã gerou a Seba e Dedã. Os filhos de Dedã foram Assurim, Letusim e Leumim.

Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

4 O s filhos de Midiã foram Efá, Efer, Hanoque, Abidá e Eldá; todos estes foram filhos de Quetura.

The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

5 A braão, porém, deu tudo quanto possuía a Isaque;

Abraham gave all he had to Isaac.

6 n o entanto aos filhos das concubinas que Abraão tinha, deu ele dádivas; e, ainda em vida, os separou de seu filho Isaque, enviando-os ao Oriente, para a terra oriental.

But while he was still living, Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the women he kept who acted as his wives. And he sent them to the land of the East, away from his son Isaac.

7 E stes, pois, são os dias dos anos da vida de Abraão, que ele viveu: cento e setenta e, cinco anos.

Abraham lived 175 years.

8 E Abraão expirou, morrendo em boa velhice, velho e cheio de dias; e foi congregado ao seu povo.

Then Abraham breathed his last and died, after living a long and full life of many good years, and was buried with his people.

9 E ntão Isaque e Ismael, seus filhos, o sepultaram na cova de Macpela, no campo de Efrom, filho de Zoar, o heteu, que estava em frente de Manre,

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the grave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, east of Mamre.

10 o campo que Abraão comprara aos filhos de Hete. Ali foi sepultado Abraão, e Sara, sua mulher.

This was the field that Abraham bought from the sons of Heth. Abraham was buried there with his wife Sarah.

11 D epois da morte de Abraão, Deus abençoou a Isaque, seu filho; e habitava Isaque junto a Beer-Laai-Rói.

After the death of Abraham, God brought good to his son Isaac. And Isaac lived at Beerlahairoi.

12 E stas são as gerações de Ismael, filho de Abraão, que Agar, a egípcia, serva de Sara, lhe deu;

These are the children and their children’s children of Abraham’s son Ishmael, who was born to Abraham and Hagar, who was Sarah’s woman servant.

13 e estes são os nomes dos filhos de Ismael pela sua ordem, segundo as suas gerações: o primogênito de Ismael era Nebaiote, depois Quedar, Abdeel, Mibsão,

These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, the names of the first-born to the last: Nebaioth, Ishmael’s first-born, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

14 M isma, Dumá, Massá,

Mishma, Dumah, Massa,

15 H adade, Tema, Jetur, Nafis e Quedemá.

Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

16 E stes são os filhos de Ismael, e estes são os seus nomes pelas suas vilas e pelos seus acampamentos: doze príncipes segundo as suas tribos.

These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their towns and by their groups of tents, twelve rulers and their families.

17 E estes são os anos da vida de Ismael, cento e trinta e sete anos; e ele expirou e, morrendo, foi cogregado ao seu povo.

Ishmael lived 137 years. Then he breathed his last and died, and was buried with his people.

18 E les então habitaram desde Havilá até Sur, que está em frente do Egito, como quem vai em direção da Assíria; assim Ismael se estabeleceu diante da face de todos os seus irmãos.

His people lived from Havilah as far as Shur, east of Egypt on the way toward Assyria. He lived away from all his brothers. The Birth of Esau and Jacob

19 E estas são as gerações de Isaque, filho de Abraão: Abraão gerou a Isaque;

These are the children and their children’s children of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham was the father of Isaac.

20 e Isaque tinha quarenta anos quando tomou por mulher a Rebeca, filha de Betuel, arameu de Padã-Arã, e irmã de Labão, arameu.

Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram, and the sister of Laban the Syrian.

21 O ra, Isaque orou insistentemente ao Senhor por sua mulher, porquanto ela era estéril; e o Senhor ouviu as suas orações, e Rebeca, sua mulher, concebeu.

Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she could not give birth and the Lord answered him. Rebekah was able to give birth.

22 E os filhos lutavam no ventre dela; então ela disse: Por que estou eu assim? E foi consultar ao Senhor.

But the babies within her fought together. And she said, “If this is so, why am I like this?” She went to ask the Lord why.

23 R espondeu-lhe o Senhor: Duas nações há no teu ventre, e dois povos se dividirão das tuas estranhas, e um povo será mais forte do que o outro povo, e o mais velho servirá ao mais moço.

The Lord said to her, “Two nations are within you. Two peoples will be divided from your body. One will be stronger than the other. And the older will serve the younger.”

24 C umpridos que foram os dias para ela dar ã luz, eis que havia gêmeos no seu ventre.

When the day came for her to give birth, there were two babies to be born.

25 S aiu o primeiro, ruivo, todo ele como um vestido de pelo; e chamaram-lhe Esaú.

The first to come out was red and he had hair all over his body. They gave him the name of Esau.

26 D epois saiu o seu irmão, agarrada sua mão ao calcanhar de Esaú; pelo que foi chamado Jacó. E Isaque tinha sessenta anos quando Rebeca os deu ã luz.

Then the brother was born. His hand was holding Esau’s heel. So he was given the name of Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. Esau Sells His Birth-Right

27 C resceram os meninos; e Esaú tornou-se perito caçador, homem do campo; mas Jacó, homem sossegado, que habitava em tendas.

When the boys grew older, Esau became a good hunter, a man of the field. But Jacob was a man of peace, living in tents.

28 I saque amava a Esaú, porque comia da sua caça; mas Rebeca amava a Jacó.

Isaac showed favor to Esau, because he liked to eat the meat of the animals Esau killed. But Rebekah showed favor to Jacob.

29 J acó havia feito um guisado, quando Esaú chegou do campo, muito cansado;

As Jacob was getting food ready one day, Esau came in from the field and was very hungry.

30 e disse Esaú a Jacó: Deixa-me, peço-te, comer desse guisado vermelho, porque estou muito cansado. Por isso se chamou Edom.

Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red meat, for I am very hungry.” That is why his name was called Edom.

31 R espondeu Jacó: Vende-me primeiro o teu direito de primogenitura.

But Jacob said, “First, sell me your birth-right.”

32 E ntão replicou Esaú: Eis que estou a ponto e morrer; logo, para que me servirá o direito de primogenitura?

Esau said, “See, I am about to die. So what good is my birth-right to me?”

33 A o que disse Jacó: Jura-me primeiro. Jurou-lhe, pois; e vendeu o seu direito de primogenitura a Jacó.

Jacob said, “First give me your promise.” So Esau promised, and sold his birth-right to Jacob.

34 J acó deu a Esaú pão e o guisado e lentilhas; e ele comeu e bebeu; e, levantando-se, seguiu seu caminho. Assim desprezou Esaú o seu direito de primogenitura.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and vegetables, and Esau ate and drank. Then Esau stood up and went on his way. So Esau hated his birth-right.
