1 A fter this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

După aceea, a avut loc o sărbătoare a iudeilor şi Isus S-a dus la Ierusalim.

2 N ow there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.

În Ierusalim, lângă Poarta Oilor, este un bazin numit în evreieşte „Betesda“, care are cinci porticuri.

3 I n these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.

În acestea zăceau o mulţime de bolnavi, orbi, ologi şi paralizaţi, (care aşteptau mişcarea apei.

4 F or an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.

Căci un înger al Domnului cobora din când în când în bazin şi tulbura apa. Şi primul care păşea în el, după tulburarea apei, era făcut sănătos, orice boală ar fi avut.)

5 N ow a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.

Se afla acolo un om care era infirm de treizeci şi opt de ani.

6 W hen Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

Isus l-a văzut zăcând şi, ştiind că este infirm de multă vreme, l-a întrebat: – Vrei să te faci bine?

7 T he sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Bolnavul I-a răspuns: – Domnule, nu am pe nimeni care să mă arunce în bazin atunci când este tulburată apa şi, până mă duc eu, coboară altul înaintea mea!

8 J esus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

Isus i-a zis: – Ridică-te, ia-ţi targa şi umblă!

9 A nd immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

Dintr-odată omul s-a făcut bine, şi-a luat targa şi a început să umble. Ziua aceea era o zi de Sabat.

10 T he Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

Prin urmare, iudeii îi ziceau celui ce fusese vindecat: – Este zi de Sabat! Nu ţi se dă voie să-ţi iei targa!

11 H e answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”

Însă el le-a răspuns: – Cel Ce m-a făcut bine mi-a zis: „Ia-ţi targa şi umblă!“

12 T hen they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’ ?”

Ei l-au întrebat: – Cine este Omul Care ţi-a zis: „Ia-ţi targa şi umblă!“?

13 B ut the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.

Dar cel vindecat nu ştia cine este, pentru că Isus dispăruse din mulţimea care era în locul acela.

14 A fterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

După aceea, Isus l-a găsit în Templu şi i-a zis: „Iată că te-ai făcut bine! Să nu mai păcătuieşti, ca să nu ţi se întâmple ceva şi mai rău!“

15 T he man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. Honor the Father and the Son

Omul a plecat şi le-a spus iudeilor că Isus este Cel Care l-a făcut bine. Lucrarea Fiului

16 F or this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.

De aceea iudeii Îl persecutau pe Isus, fiindcă făcea aceste lucruri în ziua de Sabat.

17 B ut Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”

Însă Isus le-a zis: „Tatăl Meu lucrează până acum, iar Eu, de asemenea, lucrez!“

18 T herefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

Tocmai de aceea iudeii căutau şi mai mult să-L omoare, fiindcă nu numai că dezlega Sabatul, ci şi vorbea despre Dumnezeu ca despre Tatăl Său, făcându-Se astfel egal cu Dumnezeu.

19 T hen Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

Prin urmare, Isus le-a mai zis: „Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că Fiul nu poate face nimic de la Sine, ci doar ceea ce-L vede pe Tatăl făcând. Ceea ce face Tatăl, face şi Fiul întocmai.

20 F or the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.

Căci Tatăl Îl iubeşte pe Fiul şi-I arată tot ce face El; şi Îi va arăta lucrări mai mari decât acestea, pentru ca voi să vă minunaţi.

21 F or as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.

Într-adevăr, aşa cum Tatăl învie morţii şi le dă viaţă, tot aşa şi Fiul dă viaţă oricui doreşte El!

22 F or the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,

Căci Tatăl nu judecă pe nimeni, ci toată judecata I-a dat-o Fiului,

23 t hat all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

pentru ca toţi să-L onoreze pe Fiul aşa cum Îl onorează pe Tatăl. Cel ce nu-L onorează pe Fiul nu-L onorează nici pe Tatăl, Care L-a trimis.

24 “ Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că cine ascultă Cuvântul Meu şi crede în Cel Ce M-a trimis are viaţă veşnică şi nu vine la judecată, ci a trecut de la moarte la viaţă.

25 M ost assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.

Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că vine ceasul, şi acum a şi venit, când cei morţi vor auzi glasul Fiului lui Dumnezeu şi cei ce ascultă vor trăi.

26 F or as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,

Căci aşa cum Tatăl are viaţa în Sine Însuşi, tot aşa I-a dat şi Fiului să aibă viaţa în Sine Însuşi

27 a nd has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

şi I-a dat autoritate să facă judecată, pentru că este Fiul Omului.

28 D o not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice

Nu vă miraţi de acest lucru, pentru că vine ceasul când toţi cei din morminte vor auzi glasul Lui

29 a nd come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

şi vor ieşi afară – cei ce au făcut binele vor învia pentru viaţă, iar cei ce au înfăptuit răul vor învia pentru judecată.

30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. The Fourfold Witness

Eu nu pot face nimic de la Mine; Eu judec după cum aud, şi judecata Mea este dreaptă, pentru că nu caut să fac voia Mea, ci voia Celui Ce M-a trimis. Mărturia despre Fiul

31 “ If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.

Dacă Eu depun mărturie despre Mine Însumi, atunci mărturia Mea nu este adevărată.

32 T here is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true.

Este un Altul Care depune mărturie despre Mine şi ştiu că mărturia pe care o depune El despre Mine este adevărată.

33 Y ou have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.

Voi aţi trimis la Ioan, şi el a depus mărturie pentru adevăr.

34 Y et I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved.

Nu că Eu aş avea nevoie de mărturia unui om, ci spun aceasta pentru ca voi să fiţi mântuiţi.

35 H e was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.

El era lampa aprinsă şi strălucitoare şi voi aţi vrut să vă veseliţi pentru un ceas la lumina lui.

36 B ut I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

Eu însă am o mărturie mai mare decât cea a lui Ioan. Căci lucrările pe care Mi le-a dat Tatăl să le împlinesc, tocmai lucrările acestea, pe care Eu le fac, depun mărturie despre Mine că Tatăl M-a trimis.

37 A nd the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.

Şi Tatăl, Care M-a trimis, a depus El Însuşi mărturie despre Mine. Voi nu I-aţi auzit niciodată glasul şi nici nu I-aţi văzut înfăţişarea,

38 B ut you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.

iar Cuvântul Lui nu rămâne în voi, pentru că nu credeţi în Acela pe Care L-a trimis El.

39 Y ou search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

Voi cercetaţi Scripturile deoarece credeţi că în ele aveţi viaţă veşnică, dar tocmai acestea sunt cele care depun mărturie despre Mine!

40 B ut you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Şi totuşi nu vreţi să veniţi la Mine ca să aveţi viaţă!

41 “ I do not receive honor from men.

Eu nu caut slavă de la oameni,

42 B ut I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

dar vă ştiu: nu aveţi în voi dragoste de Dumnezeu.

43 I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

Eu am venit în Numele Tatălui Meu şi nu Mă primiţi; dacă însă vine altul, în numele lui însuşi, pe acela îl veţi primi.

44 H ow can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

Cum puteţi crede voi, care căutaţi slavă unii de la alţii şi nu căutaţi slava care vine de la singurul Dumnezeu?!

45 D o not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust.

Să nu credeţi că Eu vă voi acuza înaintea Tatălui! Acuzatorul vostru este Moise, cel în care v-aţi pus nădejdea.

46 F or if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.

Căci dacă l-aţi crede pe Moise, M-aţi crede şi pe Mine, pentru că el a scris despre Mine.

47 B ut if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

Dar dacă nu credeţi scrierile lui, cum veţi crede cuvintele Mele?!“
