1 I mmediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

Dis-de-dimineaţă, conducătorii preoţilor au ţinut imediat sfat împreună cu bătrânii, cărturarii Legii şi întreg Sinedriul. L-au legat pe Isus, L-au dus şi L-au dat pe mâna lui Pilat.

2 T hen Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered and said to him, “ It is as you say.”

Pilat L-a întrebat: – Eşti Tu Împăratul iudeilor? Isus i-a răspuns: – Este aşa cum spui.

3 A nd the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing.

Conducătorii preoţilor Îl acuzau de multe lucruri.

4 T hen Pilate asked Him again, saying, “Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!”

Pilat L-a întrebat din nou: – Nu răspunzi nimic? Uite de câte lucruri Te acuză ei!

5 B ut Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled. Taking the Place of Barabbas

Dar, spre mirarea lui Pilat, Isus n-a mai răspuns nimic.

6 N ow at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested.

Pilat le elibera la fiecare sărbătoare un prizonier pe care-l cereau ei.

7 A nd there was one named Barabbas, who was chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion.

Era unul numit Baraba, închis împreună cu răsculaţii care săvârşiseră o crimă în timpul răscoalei.

8 T hen the multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do just as he had always done for them.

Mulţimea a venit şi a început să-i ceară lui Pilat să facă ceea ce făcea de obicei.

9 B ut Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

Pilat i-a întrebat: – Vreţi să vi-L eliberez pe Împăratul iudeilor?

10 F or he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.

Căci el înţelesese că din invidie Îl dăduseră conducătorii preoţilor pe mâna lui.

11 B ut the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them.

Însă conducătorii preoţilor au stârnit mulţimea să ceară să le elibereze mai bine pe Baraba.

12 P ilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

Pilat i-a întrebat iarăşi: – Şi atunci ce (doriţi) să fac cu (Cel pe Care-L numiţi) Împăratul iudeilor?

13 S o they cried out again, “Crucify Him!”

Ei au strigat din nou: – Răstigneşte-L!

14 T hen Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, “Crucify Him!”

Pilat i-a întrebat: – Dar ce rău a făcut? Însă ei strigau şi mai tare: – Răstigneşte-L!

15 S o Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified. The Soldiers Mock Jesus

Şi astfel, Pilat, vrând să facă pe placul mulţimii, le-a eliberat pe Baraba, iar pe Isus, după ce a pus să-L biciuiască, L-a dat să fie răstignit. Isus, batjocorit de soldaţi

16 T hen the soldiers led Him away into the hall called Praetorium, and they called together the whole garrison.

Soldaţii L-au dus în curtea palatului, adică în pretoriu, şi au chemat toată cohorta.

17 A nd they clothed Him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, put it on His head,

L-au îmbrăcat cu o mantie purpurie, au împletit o coroană de spini şi I-au aşezat-o pe cap.

18 a nd began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

Şi au început să-L salute zicând: „Salutare, Împărate al iudeilor!“

19 T hen they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him.

Ei Îl loveau peste cap cu o trestie, Îl scuipau şi se puneau în genunchi, închinându-I-se.

20 A nd when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him. The King on a Cross

După ce şi-au bătut joc de El astfel, L-au dezbrăcat de mantia purpurie, L-au îmbrăcat cu hainele Lui şi L-au dus afară să-L răstignească. Răstignirea

21 T hen they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear His cross.

Au obligat un trecător, un om care venea de la câmp, şi anume pe Simon din Cirena, tatăl lui Alexandru şi al lui Rufus, să ducă crucea lui Isus.

22 A nd they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.

L-au adus la locul numit Golgota, care tradus înseamnă „Locul Craniului“.

23 T hen they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.

I-au dat să bea vin amestecat cu smirnă, dar El nu l-a luat.

24 A nd when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.

După ce L-au răstignit, şi-au împărţit hainele Lui între ei, trăgând la sorţi pentru ele, ca să ştie cine ce să ia.

25 N ow it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.

Era ceasul al treilea când L-au răstignit.

26 A nd the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Au pus o inscripţie cu următoarea acuzaţie împotriva Lui: „Împăratul iudeilor“.

27 W ith Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left.

Au răstignit cu El şi doi tâlhari, unul la dreapta şi unul la stânga Lui.

28 S o the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And He was numbered with the transgressors.”

(Astfel a fost împlinită Scriptura, care zice: „A fost numărat alături de cei nelegiuiţi.“)

29 A nd those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,

Cei ce treceau pe acolo Îl insultau, dădeau din cap şi ziceau: „Ha! Tu, Cel Care dărâmi Templul şi-l reconstruieşti în trei zile,

30 s ave Yourself, and come down from the cross!”

salvează-Te pe Tine Însuţi şi dă-Te jos de pe cruce!“

31 L ikewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save.

Tot aşa Îl batjocoreau între ei şi conducătorii preoţilor împreună cu cărturarii, zicând: „Pe alţii i-a salvat, dar pe Sine Însuşi nu Se poate salva!

32 L et the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him. Jesus Dies on the Cross

«Cristosul»! «Împăratul lui Israel»! Să se coboare acum de pe cruce, ca să vedem şi să credem!“ Cei care erau răstigniţi împreună cu El Îl batjocoreau şi ei. Moartea lui Isus

33 N ow when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

Când a venit ceasul al şaselea, s-a făcut întuneric peste toată ţara până la ceasul al nouălea.

34 A nd at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Şi la ceasul al nouălea Isus a strigat cu glas tare: „ Eloi, Eloi, lema sabactani ?“, care tradus înseamnă „Dumnezeul Meu, Dumnezeul Meu, de ce M-ai părăsit?“

35 S ome of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!”

Unii din cei ce stăteau acolo L-au auzit şi au zis: „Iată că-l strigă pe Ilie!“

36 T hen someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”

Cineva a alergat şi a umplut un burete cu vin acru, l-a pus într-o trestie şi I l-a dat să-l bea, zicând: „Lăsaţi să vedem dacă va veni Ilie să-L dea jos!“

37 A nd Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.

Isus a scos un strigăt puternic şi Şi-a dat suflarea.

38 T hen the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Atunci draperia Templului a fost despicată în două, de sus până jos.

39 S o when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

Când centurionul care se afla în faţa lui Isus a văzut cum Şi-a dat suflarea, a zis: „Într-adevăr, Omul Acesta era Fiul lui Dumnezeu!“

40 T here were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,

Acolo erau şi nişte femei care priveau de departe. Printre ele erau şi Maria Magdalena, Maria – mama lui Iacov cel tânăr şi a lui Iose – şi Salome,

41 w ho also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem. Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb

care Îl urmaseră pe Isus şi-I slujiseră atunci când se afla în Galileea. Şi mai erau încă multe altele care veniseră cu El la Ierusalim. Înmormântarea lui Isus

42 N ow when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

Când s-a făcut deja seară, pentru că era Ziua Pregătirii, adică ziua de dinaintea Sabatului,

43 J oseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

Iosif din Arimateea, un sfetnic distins din Sinedriu, care şi el aştepta Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu, a îndrăznit să se ducă la Pilat şi să-i ceară trupul lui Isus.

44 P ilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.

Pilat s-a mirat că murise deja şi l-a chemat pe centurion ca să-l întrebe dacă a murit de mult timp.

45 S o when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

El s-a lămurit de la centurion de lucrul aceasta şi apoi i-a dăruit lui Iosif trupul lui Isus.

46 T hen he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

Iosif a cumpărat o pânză de in, apoi I-a dat jos trupul, L-a înfăşurat în pânza de in, L-a pus într-un mormânt săpat în stâncă şi a rostogolit o piatră la intrarea mormântului.

47 A nd Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.

Maria Magdalena şi Maria, mama lui Iose, au văzut unde fusese pus.
