1 I n the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king.

Domnul l-a lovit pe rege cu lepră şi a rămas lepros până la moarte. El a locuit într-o casă izolată. Cel care supraveghea palatul şi judeca poporul ţării era Iotam, fiul regelui.

Toată viaţa el a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului şi nu s-a depărtat de păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, cel care l-a făcut pe Israel să păcătuiască.

19 P ul king of Assyria came against the land; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to strengthen the kingdom under his control.

25 T hen Pekah the son of Remaliah, an officer of his, conspired against him and killed him in Samaria, in the citadel of the king’s house, along with Argob and Arieh; and with him were fifty men of Gilead. He killed him and reigned in his place.

Totuşi înălţimile nu le-a îndepărtat şi poporul încă mai aducea jertfe şi tămâie pe înălţimi. El a zidit Poarta de Sus a Casei Domnului.

37 I n those days the Lord began to send Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah.

În acele zile Domnul a început să trimită împotriva lui Iuda pe Reţin, regele Aramului, şi pe Pekah, fiul lui Remalia.

38 S o Jotham rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

Iotam s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat alături de părinţii săi, în cetatea strămoşului său David. Şi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Ahaz.
