1 H ear a just cause, O Lord, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.

Ascultă-mi, Doamne, cauza dreaptă, ia aminte la strigătul meu! Pleacă-Ţi urechea la rugăciunea mea nerostită de buze înşelătoare!

2 L et my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright.

Să iasă dinaintea Ta sentinţa dată mie! Ochii Tăi să vadă ceea ce este drept!

3 Y ou have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Dacă vei cerceta inima mea noaptea, când mă vizitezi, dacă mă vei încerca, nu vei găsi nimic, căci mi-am propus să nu păcătuiesc cu gura.

4 C oncerning the works of men, By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.

Cu privire la faptele omului, eu m-am ţinut departe de căile celor violenţi, după cuvântul buzelor Tale.

5 U phold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.

Paşii mei stau neclintiţi pe cărările Tale; astfel, picioarele nu mi se clatină.

6 I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.

Eu Te chem, căci îmi răspunzi, Dumnezeule! Pleacă-Ţi urechea spre mine şi ascultă-mi cuvântul!

7 S how Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them.

Arată-Ţi marea îndurare, Tu, Care prin dreapta Ta, îi scapi de împotrivitorii lor pe cei ce caută adăpost.

8 K eep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,

Păzeşte-mă ca pe lumina ochilor, ascunde-mă la umbra aripilor Tale

9 F rom the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.

de cei nelegiuiţi, care vor să mă spulbere, de duşmanii mei de moarte, care mă împresoară.

10 T hey have closed up their fat hearts; With their mouths they speak proudly.

Ei sunt plini de grăsime; gurile lor vorbesc cu aroganţă.

11 T hey have now surrounded us in our steps; They have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth,

Acum se ţin de paşii mei, mă înconjoară, mă pândesc ca să mă doboare la pământ.

12 A s a lion is eager to tear his prey, And like a young lion lurking in secret places.

Parcă ar fi un leu care tânjeşte să sfâşie, un pui de leu care aşteaptă în desiş.

13 A rise, O Lord, Confront him, cast him down; Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword,

Ridică-Te, Doamne, înfruntă-l şi trânteşte-l! Scapă-mă de cel rău cu sabia Ta!

14 W ith Your hand from men, O Lord, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.

Scapă-mă Doamne, cu mâna Ta, de astfel de oameni, de oamenii acestei lumi care-şi au partea în viaţa aceasta! Tu le umpli pântecele cu bunătăţile Tale, fiii lor se satură şi păstrează ce rămâne pentru copiii lor.

15 A s for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

Eu însă, în nevinovăţia mea, voi vedea faţa Ta! Când mă voi trezi mă voi sătura de chipul Tău.
