1 O Israel, return to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity;

„Întoarce-te, Israele, la Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, căci ai căzut din pricina fărădelegii tale.

2 T ake words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.

Aduceţi cu voi cuvinte de căinţă şi întoarceţi-vă la Domnul! Spuneţi-I: «Iartă-ne toate fărădelegile, primeşte-ne cu bunăvoinţă, şi noi Îţi vom aduce jertfa buzelor noastre!

3 A ssyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘ You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”

Asiria nu ne poate scăpa! Nu vom mai încăleca pe cai! Nu vom mai numi ‘dumnezeul nostru!’ lucrarea mâinilor noastre, căci numai la Tine găseşte orfanul milă.»

4 “ I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.

Atunci îi voi vindeca de rătăcirea lor şi îi voi iubi fără limite, căci mânia Mea s-a abătut de la ei.

5 I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon.

Voi fi ca roua pentru Israel, iar el va înflori ca floarea de crin; va da rădăcini adânci ca un cedru din Liban,

6 H is branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon.

iar ramurile lui se vor întinde. Splendoarea lui va fi ca a măslinului, iar aroma lui ca a cedrului din Liban.

7 T hose who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.

Vor fi din nou locuitori la umbra lui, iar aceştia vor da viaţă grânelor. Ei vor înflori ca via şi vor fi renumiţi ca vinul de Liban.

8 “ Ephraim shall say, ‘What have I to do anymore with idols?’ I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me.”

Efraime, ce mai am Eu de-a face cu idolii? Eu îi voi răspunde şi îi voi purta de grijă. Sunt ca un chiparos verde; din Mine vine rodul tău!“

9 W ho is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.

Cine este înţelept? Acela va înţelege aceste lucruri! Cine este priceput? Acela le va cunoaşte! Căci căile Domnului sunt drepte! Cei drepţi umblă pe ele, însă răzvrătiţii se împiedică pe ele.
