1 C ome near, you nations, to hear; And heed, you people! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, The world and all things that come forth from it.

Apropiaţi-vă, neamuri, şi ascultaţi! Luaţi aminte, popoare! Să audă pământul şi toţi cei ce-l locuiesc, lumea şi toate făpturile ei!

2 F or the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, And His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter.

Domnul este mânios pe toate neamurile şi furios pe toate oştirile lor. El le nimiceşte cu desăvârşire, le dă spre a fi măcelărite.

3 A lso their slain shall be thrown out; Their stench shall rise from their corpses, And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Morţii lor vor fi lăsaţi neîngropaţi; hoiturile lor vor răspândi un miros greu, iar munţii vor şiroi de sângele lor.

4 A ll the host of heaven shall be dissolved, And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; All their host shall fall down As the leaf falls from the vine, And as fruit falling from a fig tree.

Toată oştirea cerurilor se va descompune şi cerurile însele vor fi înfăşurate ca un sul. Toată oştirea lor va cădea asemeni frunzei veştejite a viţei-de-vie şi asemeni smochinei stricate din pom.

5 “ For My sword shall be bathed in heaven; Indeed it shall come down on Edom, And on the people of My curse, for judgment.

Sabia Mea s-a îmbătat în ceruri, iar acum, iată, coboară să judece Edomul, poporul pe care l-am sortit nimicirii.

6 T he sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It is made overflowing with fatness, With the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

Sabia Domnului este scăldată în sânge; este acoperită de grăsime, de sângele mieilor şi al ţapilor şi de grăsimea de la rinichii berbecilor. Căci Domnul aduce o jertfă la Boţra şi face un mare măcel în Edom.

7 T he wild oxen shall come down with them, And the young bulls with the mighty bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, And their dust saturated with fatness.”

Bivolii sălbatici vor cădea împreună cu ei şi tăuraşii împreună cu taurii puternici. Ţara lor va fi scăldată în sânge, iar pulberea lor va fi îmbibată de grăsime.

8 F or it is the day of the Lord ’s vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Căci Domnul are o zi a răzbunării, un an al răsplătirii, pentru cauza Sionului.

9 I ts streams shall be turned into pitch, And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch.

Pâraiele Edomului vor fi prefăcute în smoală, iar pulberea lui în pucioasă. Ţara lui va fi ca smoala aprinsă!

10 I t shall not be quenched night or day; Its smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever.

Nu se va stinge nici noaptea, nici ziua, iar fumul ei se va înălţa veşnic. Din generaţie în generaţie va rămâne pustie şi nimeni nu va mai trece vreodată prin ea.

11 B ut the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it, Also the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. And He shall stretch out over it The line of confusion and the stones of emptiness.

Ciuşul şi cucuveaua o vor stăpâni; bufniţa şi corbul îşi vor face cuib acolo. El va întinde peste ea funia de măsură a haosului şi măsura de greutate a pustiirii.

12 T hey shall call its nobles to the kingdom, But none shall be there, and all its princes shall be nothing.

Nobilii Edomului nu vor mai avea nimic acolo care să poată fi numit împărăţie; toţi prinţii lui vor ajunge o nimica.

13 A nd thorns shall come up in its palaces, Nettles and brambles in its fortresses; It shall be a habitation of jackals, A courtyard for ostriches.

Spini vor creşte în palatele lor, urzici şi mărăcini vor răsări în fortăreţele lor. Va deveni vizuină pentru şacali şi adăpost pentru struţi.

14 T he wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the jackals, And the wild goat shall bleat to its companion; Also the night creature shall rest there, And find for herself a place of rest.

Animalele pustiei se vor întâlni cu hienele, iar ţapii sălbatici se vor chema unul pe altul. De asemenea, Lilit se va culca şi îşi va găsi un loc de odihnă acolo.

15 T here the arrow snake shall make her nest and lay eggs And hatch, and gather them under her shadow; There also shall the hawks be gathered, Every one with her mate.

Bufniţa îşi va face cuibul acolo şi va depune ouă, le va cloci şi îşi va strânge puii sub umbra aripilor sale. Şoimii se vor aduna şi ei, fiecare cu perechea lui.

16 “ Search from the book of the Lord, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.

Cercetaţi sulul Domnului şi citiţi! Nici una dintre acestea nu va lipsi; nici una nu va fi fără perechea ei, căci gura Domnului a poruncit şi Duhul Său le-a adunat împreună.

17 H e has cast the lot for them, And His hand has divided it among them with a measuring line. They shall possess it forever; From generation to generation they shall dwell in it.”

El a aruncat sorţii pentru ele şi mâna Sa le-a împărţit pământul cu funia de măsurat; ele îl vor stăpâni pentru totdeauna şi-l vor locui din generaţie în generaţie.
