1 B ut a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.

2 A nd he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

şi a păstrat pentru sine o parte din bani cu ştirea soţiei lui; apoi a adus cealaltă parte din bani şi a pus-o la picioarele apostolilor.

3 B ut Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?

Petru i-a zis: „Ananias, de ce ţi-a umplut Satan inima ca să-L minţi pe Duhul Sfânt, păstrând pentru tine o parte din preţul ogorului?

4 W hile it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

Dacă rămânea nevândut, nu rămânea el al tău? Şi, după ce a fost vândut, nu erau banii la dispoziţia ta? De ce ai pus la cale acest lucru în inima ta? Nu pe oameni i-ai minţit, ci pe Dumnezeu!“

5 T hen Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.

Când a auzit Ananias aceste cuvinte, a căzut la pământ şi şi-a dat duhul. O mare frică i-a cuprins pe toţi cei ce auziseră aceste lucruri.

6 A nd the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

Cei tineri s-au ridicat, l-au învelit, l-au scos afară şi l-au îngropat.

7 N ow it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.

Cam după trei ore, a intrat şi soţia lui, fără să ştie ce se întâmplase.

8 A nd Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.”

Petru a întrebat-o: – Spune-mi, cu atât aţi vândut ogorul? Ea i-a răspuns: – Da, cu atât.

9 T hen Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”

Atunci Petru i-a zis: – De ce v-aţi înţeles între voi să-L puneţi la încercare pe Duhul Domnului? Iată, picioarele celor ce l-au îngropat pe soţul tău sunt la uşă şi te vor duce şi pe tine!

10 T hen immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

Dintr-odată, ea a căzut la picioarele lui şi şi-a dat duhul. Când au intrat tinerii, au găsit-o moartă; au dus-o afară şi au îngropat-o lângă soţul ei.

11 S o great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things. Continuing Power in the Church

O mare frică a cuprins toată biserica şi pe toţi cei ce auziseră aceste lucruri. Prin apostoli se fac semne şi minuni

12 A nd through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.

Prin mâinile apostolilor se făceau multe semne şi minuni în popor. Toţi se adunau în acelaşi gând în Porticul lui Solomon

13 Y et none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.

şi nici unul din ceilalţi nu îndrăznea să li se alăture, deşi poporul îi lăuda foarte mult.

14 A nd believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,

Totuşi, tot mai mulţi oameni, o mulţime de bărbaţi şi femei care credeau în Domnul, erau adăugaţi la numărul lor,

15 s o that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.

18 a nd laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.

au pus mâinile pe apostoli şi i-au băgat în închisoarea publică.

19 B ut at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,

Dar un înger al Domnului a deschis uşile închisorii în timpul nopţii, i-a condus afară şi le-a zis:

20 “ Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”

„Duceţi-vă, staţi în Templu şi spuneţi poporului toate cuvintele vieţii acesteia!“

21 A nd when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. Apostles on Trial Again

Auzind aceasta, ei au intrat în Templu dis-de-dimineaţă şi au început să dea învăţătură. Când a sosit marele preot şi cei ce erau împreună cu el, au convocat Sinedriul, adică toată adunarea bătrânilor fiilor lui Israel, şi au trimis după apostoli la închisoare, ca să fie aduşi.

22 B ut when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,

Dar gărzile, când au sosit acolo, nu i-au găsit în închisoare, aşa că s-au întors şi au anunţat

23 s aying, “Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!”

spunând: „Închisoarea am găsit-o încuiată cu toată grija, iar pe gardieni i-am găsit stând la uşi, dar când am deschis, n-am găsit pe nimeni înăuntru!“

24 N ow when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be.

Când au auzit cuvintele acestea, atât comandantul gărzii Templului, cât şi conducătorii preoţilor au rămas înmărmuriţi din pricina lor şi au început să se întrebe ce se întâmplă.

25 S o one came and told them, saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!”

Cineva însă a venit şi i-a anunţat: „Iată că bărbaţii pe care i-aţi băgat în închisoare stau în Templu şi dau învăţătură poporului!“

26 T hen the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

Atunci comandantul s-a dus împreună cu gărzile şi i-a adus, însă nu cu forţa, pentru că se temeau să nu fie loviţi cu pietre de popor.

27 A nd when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them,

I-au adus şi i-au pus să stea înaintea Sinedriului. Marele preot i-a întrebat

28 s aying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”

zicând: – (Nu) v-am poruncit răspicat să nu mai daţi învăţătură în Numele acesta? Dar iată că voi aţi umplut Ierusalimul cu învăţătura voastră şi vreţi să aruncaţi peste noi vina pentru sângele Acestui Om!

29 B ut Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.

Petru şi ceilalţi apostoli i-au răspuns: – Trebuie să ascultăm mai mult de Dumnezeu decât de oameni!

30 T he God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.

Dumnezeul strămoşilor noştri L-a înviat pe Isus, Cel pe Care voi L-aţi prins şi L-aţi ucis pironindu-L pe lemn!

31 H im God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Pe El, Dumnezeu L-a înălţat la dreapta Sa, ca Prinţ şi Mântuitor, ca să dea lui Israel pocăinţă şi iertare de păcate!

32 A nd we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” Gamaliel’s Advice

Iar noi suntem martori ai acestor lucruri şi, de asemenea, şi Duhul Sfânt pe Care L-a dat Dumnezeu celor ce ascultă de El!

33 W hen they heard this, they were furious and plotted to kill them.

Când au auzit ei acestea, s-au înfuriat şi au vrut să-i omoare.

34 T hen one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while.

Dar un fariseu pe nume Gamaliel, un cărturar respectat de tot poporul, s-a ridicat în Sinedriu şi a poruncit ca oamenii să fie scoşi afară puţin.

35 A nd he said to them: “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men.

Apoi le-a zis: „Bărbaţi israeliţi, luaţi seama ce aveţi de gând să le faceţi acestor oameni!

36 F or some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing.

Căci, nu demult, s-a ridicat Teudas, care spunea despre sine că este cineva şi căruia i s-au alăturat aproape patru sute de bărbaţi. El a fost omorât, iar toţi cei ce-l urmaseră au fost împrăştiaţi şi nu s-a ales nimic de ei.

37 A fter this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed.

După el, pe vremea recensământului, s-a ridicat Iuda, galileeanul, şi a tras pe popor după el. Dar şi el a pierit, iar cei ce-l urmaseră au fost împrăştiaţi.

38 A nd now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing;

Iar acum, eu vă spun: depărtaţi-vă de oamenii aceştia şi lăsaţi-i în pace! Dacă planul sau lucrarea aceasta este de la oameni, i se va pune capăt,

39 b ut if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God.”

dar dacă este de la Dumnezeu nu-i veţi putea opri pe aceşti oameni! Să nu vă pomeniţi că luptaţi împotriva lui Dumnezeu!“

40 A nd they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

Ei au fost convinşi de el. Apoi i-au chemat pe apostoli, i-au biciuit, le-au poruncit să nu mai vorbească în Numele lui Isus şi le-au dat drumul.

41 S o they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Prin urmare, apostolii au plecat dinaintea Sinedriului, bucurându-se că au fost consideraţi vrednici să fie înjosiţi pentru Numele lui Isus.

42 A nd daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

Şi, în fiecare zi, în Templu şi prin case, nu încetau să dea învăţătură şi să ducă vestea bună că Isus este Cristosul.
