1 “ When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

„Când Israel era doar un copil, îl iubeam şi l-am chemat pe fiul Meu din Egipt.

2 A s they called them, So they went from them; They sacrificed to the Baals, And burned incense to carved images.

Cu cât îi chemam mai mult, cu atât se îndepărtau de Mine; jertfeau baalilor şi ardeau tămâie idolilor.

3 “ I taught Ephraim to walk, Taking them by their arms; But they did not know that I healed them.

Eu am fost Cel Ce l-am învăţat pe Efraim să meargă, luându-l de mâini, dar el nu şi-a dat seama că Eu am fost Cel Ce l-am vindecat.

4 I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them.

I-am tras cu funii omeneşti, cu legături de dragoste. Am fost pentru ei ca cei care ridică jugul de pe umeri şi M-am aplecat spre ei ca să-i hrănesc.

5 “ He shall not return to the land of Egypt; But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent.

Dar oare nu se vor întoarce în ţara Egiptului şi nu va fi asirianul împăratul lor, pentru că au refuzat să se pocăiască?

6 A nd the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels.

Sabia se va dezlănţui în cetăţile lor, le va distruge zăvoarele porţilor şi-i va devora din pricina planurilor lor rele.

7 M y people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him.

Dar poporul Meu este pornit să-Mi întoarcă spatele. De aceea, chiar dacă Îl vor striga pe Cel Preaînalt, El nu-i va înălţa nicidecum.

8 “ How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I set you like Zeboiim? My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred.

Totuşi cum să te dau, Efraime? Cum să te predau, Israele? Cum aş putea să-ţi fac ca Admei? Sau să mă port cu tine ca şi cu Ţeboimul? Mi se zbate inima în Mine şi toată fiinţa-Mi freamătă de compasiune.

9 I will not execute the fierceness of My anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst; And I will not come with terror.

Nu voi lucra după mânia Mea cea aprigă, nu mă voi întoarce să-l distrug pe Efraim, căci Eu sunt Dumnezeu, nu un om, sunt Cel Sfânt din mijlocul tău şi nu voi veni cu mânie.

10 “ They shall walk after the Lord. He will roar like a lion. When He roars, Then His sons shall come trembling from the west;

Ei vor merge după Domnul, Care va rage ca un leu. Când El va rage, fiii Lui vor veni tremurând din apus.

11 T hey shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt, Like a dove from the land of Assyria. And I will let them dwell in their houses,” Says the Lord. God’s Charge Against Ephraim

Vor veni tremurând ca păsările din Egipt şi ca porumbeii din Asiria, iar Eu îi voi aşeza în casele lor, zice Domnul. Păcatul poporului

12 “ Ephraim has encircled Me with lies, And the house of Israel with deceit; But Judah still walks with God, Even with the Holy One who is faithful.

Efraim însă M-a înconjurat cu minciuni, iar Casa lui Israel – cu înşelăciuni. Cât despre Iuda, el încă rătăceşte faţă de Dumnezeu, faţă de Cel Sfânt şi Credincios.“
