1 A nd it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

În anul al doisprezecelea, în prima zi a lunii a douăsprezecea, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 “ Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: ‘You are like a young lion among the nations, And you are like a monster in the seas, Bursting forth in your rivers, Troubling the waters with your feet, And fouling their rivers.

„Fiul omului, rosteşte o cântare de jale despre Faraon, monarhul Egiptului, şi spune-i: «Te consideri un leu printre neamuri, dar eşti ca un monstru în mări! Te arunci în râurile tale, tulburi apele cu picioarele şi îţi murdăreşti râurile.»

3 ‘ Thus says the Lord God: “I will therefore spread My net over you with a company of many people, And they will draw you up in My net.

Acum, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Voi arunca asupra ta năvodul Meu, printr-o mare mulţime de popoare, şi te voi trage în plasa Mea!

4 T hen I will leave you on the land; I will cast you out on the open fields, And cause to settle on you all the birds of the heavens. And with you I will fill the beasts of the whole earth.

Te voi lăsa pe pământ şi te voi arunca pe suprafaţa câmpiei; voi pune să se aşeze peste tine păsările cerului şi voi sătura din tine fiarele întregului pământ!

5 I will lay your flesh on the mountains, And fill the valleys with your carcass.

Îţi voi arunca carnea pe munţi şi voi umple văile cu resturile tale!

6 “ I will also water the land with the flow of your blood, Even to the mountains; And the riverbeds will be full of you.

Voi uda pământul cu sângele tău scurs pe munţi şi albiile vor fi pline de resturile tale.

7 W hen I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.

Când te voi stinge, voi acoperi cerurile şi voi întuneca stelele lor; voi acoperi soarele cu un nor şi luna nu-şi va mai da lumina.

8 A ll the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you, And bring darkness upon your land,” Says the Lord God.

Voi întuneca din pricina ta toţi luminătorii care strălucesc pe ceruri şi voi răspândi întunericul peste ţara ta, zice Stăpânul Domn.

9 ‘ I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.

Voi nelinişti inima multor popoare când voi vesti distrugerea ta printre neamuri, printre ţările pe care nu le-ai cunoscut.

10 Y es, I will make many peoples astonished at you, and their kings shall be horribly afraid of you when I brandish My sword before them; and they shall tremble every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.

Voi face să se îngrozească din pricina ta multe popoare, iar regii lor se vor înspăimânta din pricina ta, când Îmi voi flutura sabia pe dinaintea lor. În ziua căderii tale fiecare va tremura în orice clipă pentru viaţa lui.

11 ‘ For thus says the Lord God: “The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.

Căci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: Sabia împăratului Babilonului va veni peste tine!

12 B y the swords of the mighty warriors, all of them the most terrible of the nations, I will cause your multitude to fall. “They shall plunder the pomp of Egypt, And all its multitude shall be destroyed.

Voi face ca mulţimea ta să cadă răpusă de sabia celor viteji, cei mai înspăimântători dintre toate neamurile. Ei vor distruge mândria Egiptului şi toată mulţimea lui va fi nimicită.

13 A lso I will destroy all its animals From beside its great waters; The foot of man shall muddy them no more, Nor shall the hooves of animals muddy them.

Voi face să piară toate vitele lui de lângă apele cele multe; şi nu le va mai tulbura nici picior de om, nici copită de animal.

14 T hen I will make their waters clear, And make their rivers run like oil,” Says the Lord God.

Atunci îi voi lăsa apele să se aşeze şi-i voi face râurile să curgă ca uleiul, zice Stăpânul Domn.

15 “ When I make the land of Egypt desolate, And the country is destitute of all that once filled it, When I strike all who dwell in it, Then they shall know that I am the Lord.

Când voi preface ţara Egiptului într-o pustietate, şi ţara va fi jefuită de bogăţia ei, când îi voi fi lovit pe toţi cei ce locuiesc în ea, vor şti că Eu sunt Domnul.

16 “ This is the lamentation With which they shall lament her; The daughters of the nations shall lament her; They shall lament for her, for Egypt, And for all her multitude,” Says the Lord God.’” Egypt and Others Consigned to the Pit

Aceasta este cântarea de jale pe care o vor cânta despre el. Fiicele neamurilor o vor cânta; o vor cânta despre Egipt şi despre toată mulţimea lui, zice Stăpânul Domn. »“

17 I t came to pass also in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

În anul al doisprezecelea, în ziua a cincisprezecea a lunii, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

18 “ Son of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt, And cast them down to the depths of the earth, Her and the daughters of the famous nations, With those who go down to the Pit:

„Fiul omului, boceşte pentru mulţimea Egiptului şi coboar-o, pe ea şi pe fiicele neamurilor măreţe, în tărâmul de jos, la cei coborâţi în groapă.

19 ‘ Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down, be placed with the uncircumcised.’

Spune-i: «Crezi că eşti tu mai încântătoare decât altele? Coboară şi zaci printre cei necircumcişi!»

20 “ They shall fall in the midst of those slain by the sword; She is delivered to the sword, Drawing her and all her multitudes.

Vor cădea astfel în mijlocul celor răpuşi de sabie! Sabia este pregătită! Să fie scos afară Egiptul şi toată mulţimea lui!

21 T he strong among the mighty Shall speak to him out of the midst of hell With those who help him: ‘They have gone down, They lie with the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.’

Atunci conducătorii cei viteji din Locuinţa Morţilor vor zice despre el şi despre cei ce-l ajutau: «S-au coborât şi zac printre cei necircumcişi, răpuşi de sabie!»

22 “ Assyria is there, and all her company, With their graves all around her, All of them slain, fallen by the sword.

Acolo este Asiria şi toată adunarea ei! De jur împrejurul ei se află mormintele tuturor celor ucişi, care au căzut răpuşi de sabie

23 H er graves are set in the recesses of the Pit, And her company is all around her grave, All of them slain, fallen by the sword, Who caused terror in the land of the living.

şi cărora li s-au dat morminte în cele mai adânci locuri ale gropii. Adunarea ei se află de jur împrejurul mormântului ei, şi anume toţi cei ucişi, care au căzut răpuşi de sabie, ei, care răspândeau teroare pe tărâmul celor vii.

24 “ There is Elam and all her multitude, All around her grave, All of them slain, fallen by the sword, Who have gone down uncircumcised to the lower parts of the earth, Who caused their terror in the land of the living; Now they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit.

Acolo este Elamul şi toată mulţimea lui! De jur împrejurul mormântului lui se află toţi cei ucişi, care au căzut răpuşi de sabie. Ei, care răspândeau teroare pe tărâmul celor vii, s-au coborât necircumcişi în tărâmul de jos. Acum ei îşi poartă ruşinea împreună cu cei ce s-au coborât în groapă.

25 T hey have set her bed in the midst of the slain, With all her multitude, With her graves all around it, All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; Though their terror was caused In the land of the living, Yet they bear their shame With those who go down to the Pit; It was put in the midst of the slain.

I-au pregătit Elamului un pat în mijlocul celor ucişi şi toată mulţimea lui se află împrejurul mormântului lui. Toţi sunt necircumcişi şi au fost răpuşi de sabie, căci răspândeau teroare pe tărâmul celor vii. Ei îşi poartă acum ruşinea împreună cu cei ce s-au coborât în groapă; au fost culcaţi alături de cei ucişi.

26 “ There are Meshech and Tubal and all their multitudes, With all their graves around it, All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, Though they caused their terror in the land of the living.

Acolo sunt Meşekul şi Tubalul şi toată mulţimea lor, de jur împrejurul mormântului lor! Toţi sunt necircumcişi şi au fost răpuşi de sabie, căci răspândeau teroare pe tărâmul celor vii.

27 T hey do not lie with the mighty Who are fallen of the uncircumcised, Who have gone down to hell with their weapons of war; They have laid their swords under their heads, But their iniquities will be on their bones, Because of the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.

Să nu zacă ei împreună cu cei viteji, care au căzut dintre cei necircumcişi şi care au coborât în Locuinţa Morţilor cu toate armele lor de război, cei ale căror săbii au fost puse sub capetele lor? Nelegiuirile lor au fost puse pe oasele lor, căci aceşti viteji erau o teroare pe tărâmul celor vii.

28 Y es, you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, And lie with those slain by the sword.

Tot aşa şi tu, Faraon, vei fi zdrobit şi vei zăcea printre cei necircumcişi, împreună cu cei răpuşi de sabie.

29 “ There is Edom, Her kings and all her princes, Who despite their might Are laid beside those slain by the sword; They shall lie with the uncircumcised, And with those who go down to the Pit.

Acolo este şi Edomul, împreună cu regii şi toţi prinţii lui, care, în pofida vitejiei lor, au fost puşi alături de cei răpuşi de sabie. Ei zac împreună cu cei necircumcişi, cu cei ce s-au coborât în groapă.

30 T here are the princes of the north, All of them, and all the Sidonians, Who have gone down with the slain In shame at the terror which they caused by their might; They lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword, And bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit.

Acolo sunt toţi prinţii nordului şi toţi sidonienii; ei s-au coborât împreună cu cei ucişi, în pofida terorii pe care au răspândit-o. În ciuda vitejiei lor, ei sunt acum acoperiţi de ruşine. Aceşti necircumcişi zac împreună cu cei răpuşi de sabie şi-şi poartă ruşinea alături de cei ce s-au coborât în groapă.

31 “ Pharaoh will see them And be comforted over all his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, Slain by the sword,” Says the Lord God.

Faraon – el şi întreaga lui oştire – îi va vedea şi se va consola pentru întreaga lui mulţime care a fost răpusă de sabie, zice Stăpânul Domn.

32 “ For I have caused My terror in the land of the living; And he shall be placed in the midst of the uncircumcised With those slain by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude,” Says the Lord God.

Căci voi răspândi teroarea pe tărâmul celor vii, şi Faraon cu toată mulţimea lui va fi pus să zacă printre cei necircumcişi, alături de cei răpuşi de sabie, zice Stăpânul Domn. »“
