1 N ow there was a man from the mountains of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

Era un om din regiunea muntoasă a lui Efraim care se numea Mica.

2 A nd he said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you, and on which you put a curse, even saying it in my ears—here is the silver with me; I took it.” And his mother said, “ May you be blessed by the Lord, my son!”

El i-a zis mamei sale: – Cei o mie o sută de şecheli de argint care ţi s-au luat şi pentru care ai blestemat chiar de faţă cu mine, argintul acela este la mine. Eu îl luasem! Mama lui i-a răspuns: – Binecuvântat să fie fiul meu de Domnul!

3 S o when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, “I had wholly dedicated the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore, I will return it to you.”

El a dat înapoi mamei sale cei o mie o sută de şecheli de argint şi ea i-a zis: – Pun deoparte acest argint, închinându-l Domnului cu mâna mea, pentru ca fiul meu să-şi facă din el un idol cioplit şi un idol turnat. În acest fel ţi-l voi restitui!

4 T hus he returned the silver to his mother. Then his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to the silversmith, and he made it into a carved image and a molded image; and they were in the house of Micah.

El i-a dat înapoi mamei sale argintul. Mama lui a luat două sute de şecheli de argint şi i-a dat argintarului. Acesta a făcut din el un idol cioplit şi un idol turnat.

5 T he man Micah had a shrine, and made an ephod and household idols; and he consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

Acest om, Mica, avea un templu; şi-a făcut un efod şi nişte terafimi şi l-a învestit ca preot pe unul din fiii săi.

6 I n those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

În zilele acelea nu era rege în Israel şi fiecare făcea ce i se părea că este drept.

7 N ow there was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah, of the family of Judah; he was a Levite, and was staying there.

Era un tânăr levit ce locuia în Betleemul lui Iuda, printre cei din clanul lui Iuda.

8 T he man departed from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to stay wherever he could find a place. Then he came to the mountains of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

Omul acesta a plecat din Betleemul lui Iuda ca să locuiască acolo unde va găsi un loc potrivit. În drumul său, a ajuns în regiunea muntoasă a lui Efraim, la casa lui Mica.

9 A nd Micah said to him, “Where do you come from?” So he said to him, “I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, and I am on my way to find a place to stay.”

Mica i-a zis: – De unde vii? El i-a răspuns: – Sunt un levit din Betleemul lui Iuda şi călătoresc ca să-mi găsesc un loc unde să locuiesc!

10 M icah said to him, “Dwell with me, and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothes, and your sustenance.” So the Levite went in.

Mica i-a zis: – Rămâi la mine! Îmi vei fi părinte şi preot, iar eu îţi voi da zece şecheli de argint pe an, un rând de haine şi mijloace de trai. Levitul a rămas.

11 T hen the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man became like one of his sons to him.

Astfel, levitul a fost de acord să locuiască la acel om care l-a privit ca pe unul din fiii lui.

12 S o Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and lived in the house of Micah.

Mica l-a învestit pe levit şi tânărul a slujit ca preot în casa lui.

13 T hen Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since I have a Levite as priest!”

Mica a zis: „Acum ştiu că Domnul îmi va face bine, fiindcă am ca preot un levit!“
