1 S end the lamb to the ruler of the land, From Sela to the wilderness, To the mount of the daughter of Zion.

Trimiteţi miei drept tribut conducătorului ţării, din Sela, pe drumul pustiei, la muntele fiicei Sionului.

2 F or it shall be as a wandering bird thrown out of the nest; So shall be the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon.

Ca nişte păsări alungate, izgonite din cuib, aşa sunt fiicele Moabului la vadurile Arnonului.

3 “ Take counsel, execute judgment; Make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day; Hide the outcasts, Do not betray him who escapes.

«Dă-ne un sfat! Hotărăşte ceva! Întinde-ţi umbra în mijlocul zilei şi prefă-o în noapte! Ascunde-i pe cei izgoniţi şi nu-i trăda pe fugari!

4 L et My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. For the extortioner is at an end, Devastation ceases, The oppressors are consumed out of the land.

Primeşte-i pe deportaţii Moabului să locuiască cu tine! Fii un refugiu pentru ei în faţa nimicitorului!» Când asupritorul va înceta, când nimicirea va lua sfârşit şi prădătorul va lăsa ţara în pace,

5 I n mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

atunci, prin îndurare, va fi întemeiat un tron pe care va domni cu credincioşie cineva din Cortul lui David, un judecător care caută să judece drept şi este plin de râvnă pentru dreptate.

6 W e have heard of the pride of Moab— He is very proud— Of his haughtiness and his pride and his wrath; But his lies shall not be so.

Am auzit de mândria Moabului – cât este el de mândru! – de fala sa, de trufia şi de aroganţa sa, dar laudele lui sunt minciuni.

7 T herefore Moab shall wail for Moab; Everyone shall wail. For the foundations of Kir Hareseth you shall mourn; Surely they are stricken.

De aceea bocesc moabiţii, văitându-se toţi pentru Moab. Bociţi şi fiţi adânc mâhniţi pentru oamenii din Chir-Hareset!

8 F or the fields of Heshbon languish, And the vine of Sibmah; The lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants, Which have reached to Jazer And wandered through the wilderness. Her branches are stretched out, They are gone over the sea.

Căci câmpiile Heşbonului se usucă la fel ca şi viile din Sibma. Domnitorii neamurilor au distrus cele mai alese viţe, care cândva ajungeau până la Iazer, fiind răspândite până spre pustie. Mlădiţele ei se întindeau şi ajungeau până la mare.

9 T herefore I will bewail the vine of Sibmah, With the weeping of Jazer; I will drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh; For battle cries have fallen Over your summer fruits and your harvest.

De aceea plâng împreună cu Iazerul pentru viile din Sibma. O, Heşbon! O, Eleale! Vă ud cu lacrimile Mele! Căci strigătul de bucurie scos de voi la culesul fructelor şi la seceriş a încetat.

10 G ladness is taken away, And joy from the plentiful field; In the vineyards there will be no singing, Nor will there be shouting; No treaders will tread out wine in the presses; I have made their shouting cease.

Bucuria şi veselia au dispărut din livezi; în vii nu se mai cântă şi nu se mai chiuie de bucurie; nimeni nu mai zdrobeşte vinul în teascuri, căci am făcut să înceteze strigătele de bucurie.

11 T herefore my heart shall resound like a harp for Moab, And my inner being for Kir Heres.

De aceea, ca o liră Îmi plânge inima pentru Moab şi sufletul Mi se tânguie pentru Chir-Hareset.

12 A nd it shall come to pass, When it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, That he will come to his sanctuary to pray; But he will not prevail.

Moab va fi văzut trudindu-se pe înălţimi, venind la altar să se roage, însă nu va primi nimic.

13 T his is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

Acesta este cuvântul pe care-l rostise Domnul cu privire la Moab.

14 B ut now the Lord has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as the years of a hired man, the glory of Moab will be despised with all that great multitude, and the remnant will be very small and feeble.”

Dar acum, Domnul zice: «În trei ani, număraţi ca anii unui simbriaş, în ciuda mulţimii sale mari, gloria Moabului va fi prăbuşită, iar cei ce vor supravieţui vor fi puţini şi slabi.»“
