1 E lihu also proceeded and said:

Elihu a continuat:

2 “ Bear with me a little, and I will show you That there are yet words to speak on God’s behalf.

„Mai rabdă-mă puţin şi-ţi voi arăta că mai sunt lucruri de spus în favoarea lui Dumnezeu.

3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

Îmi voi aduce cunoştinţa de departe şi voi arăta dreptatea Făcătorului meu.

4 F or truly my words are not false; One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

Fiţi siguri că vorbele mele nu sunt mincinoase; unul desăvârşit în cunoaştere este cu voi.

5 “ Behold, God is mighty, but despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

Dumnezeu este puternic, dar nu dispreţuieşte pe nimeni; este puternic, ferm în scopurile Sale.

6 H e does not preserve the life of the wicked, But gives justice to the oppressed.

Nu-l ţine în viaţă pe cel rău, dar îi face dreptate celui în suferinţă.

7 H e does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; But they are on the throne with kings, For He has seated them forever, And they are exalted.

Nu-Şi ia ochii de la cei drepţi, ci îi aşază pe tron împreună cu împăraţii şi îi înalţă pentru totdeauna.

8 A nd if they are bound in fetters, Held in the cords of affliction,

Dacă oamenii sunt legaţi în lanţuri şi ţinuţi în legăturile suferinţei,

9 T hen He tells them their work and their transgressions— That they have acted defiantly.

El le spune ce-au făcut – că s-au mândrit şi au păcătuit.

10 H e also opens their ear to instruction, And commands that they turn from iniquity.

El le deschide urechile spre a se îndrepta şi le porunceşte să se întoarcă de la nedreptate.

11 I f they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.

Dacă Îl ascultă şi-L slujesc, îşi vor sfârşi zilele în fericire şi anii lor în mulţumire sufletească.

12 B ut if they do not obey, They shall perish by the sword, And they shall die without knowledge.

Dar dacă ei nu ascultă, vor pieri de sabie şi vor muri fără cunoştinţă.

13 “ But the hypocrites in heart store up wrath; They do not cry for help when He binds them.

Cei nelegiuiţi nutresc mânie; nu strigă după ajutor nici chiar atunci când El îi leagă.

14 T hey die in youth, And their life ends among the perverted persons.

Ei mor în tinereţe, sfârşesc printre cei ce se prostituează.

15 H e delivers the poor in their affliction, And opens their ears in oppression.

Dar pe cei suferinzi El îi scapă prin suferinţa lor şi le deschide urechea prin asuprire.

16 “ Indeed He would have brought you out of dire distress, Into a broad place where there is no restraint; And what is set on your table would be full of richness.

Tot aşa te-ar fi scos şi pe tine din necaz, la un loc larg, departe de strâmtorare şi ar fi pus pe masa ta bucate alese.

17 B ut you are filled with the judgment due the wicked; Judgment and justice take hold of you.

Dar tu te-ai umplut cu judecata celui rău; judecata şi dreptatea te cuprind.

18 B ecause there is wrath, beware lest He take you away with one blow; For a large ransom would not help you avoid it.

Fii atent ca nimeni să nu te amăgească prin bogăţii şi nu lăsa ca un dar bogat să te abată de pe cale!

19 W ill your riches, Or all the mighty forces, Keep you from distress?

Te-ar putea feri de necaz bogăţia sau toate eforturile pe care le faci?

20 D o not desire the night, When people are cut off in their place.

Nu tânji după noapte, ca să smulgi popoarele din locul lor.

21 T ake heed, do not turn to iniquity, For you have chosen this rather than affliction.

Ai grijă! Nu te întoarce spre nedreptate; căci se pare că ai ales-o mai degrabă pe aceasta decât suferinţa.

22 “ Behold, God is exalted by His power; Who teaches like Him?

Iată, Dumnezeu este înălţat în puterea Sa; care învăţător este ca El?

23 W ho has assigned Him His way, Or who has said, ‘You have done wrong’? Elihu Proclaims God’s Majesty

Cine I-a rânduit căile sau cine-I poate spune: «Ai greşit!»

24 “ Remember to magnify His work, Of which men have sung.

Nu uita să-I preamăreşti lucrarea pe care oamenii au lăudat-o în cântare.

25 E veryone has seen it; Man looks on it from afar.

Toţi oamenii au văzut-o; fiecare priveşte la ea de departe.

26 “ Behold, God is great, and we do not know Him; Nor can the number of His years be discovered.

Ce mare este Dumnezeu, dincolo de înţelegerea noastră! Numărul anilor Lui nu poate fi pătruns.

27 F or He draws up drops of water, Which distill as rain from the mist,

El ia picăturile din apă şi preface ceaţa în ploaie,

28 W hich the clouds drop down And pour abundantly on man.

pe care norii o lasă să cadă şi care picură din plin peste oameni.

29 I ndeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds, The thunder from His canopy?

Cine poate înţelege ruperea norilor, tunetele cortului său?

30 L ook, He scatters His light upon it, And covers the depths of the sea.

El Îşi răspândeşte fulgerul în jurul Lui şi acoperă adâncurile mării.

31 F or by these He judges the peoples; He gives food in abundance.

În acest fel judecă El popoarele; El le dă hrană din belşug.

32 H e covers His hands with lightning, And commands it to strike.

Îşi umple mâinile cu un fulger şi-i porunceşte unde să lovească.

33 H is thunder declares it, The cattle also, concerning the rising storm.

Tunetul său Îi vesteşte sosirea, iar furtuna anunţă mânia Sa aprinsă.
