1 B ehold, a king will reign in righteousness, And princes will rule with justice.

Iată, un rege va domni cu dreptate şi nişte prinţi vor stăpâni drept.

2 A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, And a cover from the tempest, As rivers of water in a dry place, As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

Fiecare om va fi atunci ca un adăpost împotriva vântului şi ca un refugiu în faţa furtunii, ca nişte pâraie de apă într-un loc uscat şi ca umbra unei stânci mari într-un ţinut însetat.

3 T he eyes of those who see will not be dim, And the ears of those who hear will listen.

Atunci ochii celor ce văd nu vor mai fi închişi, iar urechile celor ce aud vor lua aminte.

4 A lso the heart of the rash will understand knowledge, And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.

Mintea celor nesăbuiţi va judeca sănătos, iar limba celor bâlbâiţi va vorbi repede şi clar.

5 T he foolish person will no longer be called generous, Nor the miser said to be bountiful;

Nebunul nu va mai fi numit ales la suflet şi ticălosului nu i se va mai spune că este distins.

6 F or the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the Lord, To keep the hungry unsatisfied, And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

Căci nebunul spune numai nebunii şi mintea lui se gândeşte numai la rău: este lipsit de evlavie şi spune neadevăruri cu privire la Domnul; îl lasă fără hrană pe cel flămând şi fără apă pe cel însetat.

7 A lso the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice.

Mijloacele celui ticălos sunt rele; el face planuri mişeleşti pentru a-l distruge pe cel sărac cu minciuni, chiar şi atunci când cauza nevoiaşului este dreaptă.

8 B ut a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand. Consequences of Complacency

Dar cel ales la suflet face planuri alese şi rămâne statornic în ele.

9 R ise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech.

Femei fără grijă, sculaţi-vă şi ascultaţi glasul meu! Fiice încrezătoare, luaţi aminte la vorbirea mea!

10 I n a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come.

Într-un an şi câteva zile vă veţi înfiora, încrezătoarelor! Căci via nu va mai fi culeasă, nici secerişul nu va mai veni.

11 T remble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists.

Tremuraţi, femei pline de linişte! Înfioraţi-vă, fiice încrezătoare! Dezbrăcaţi-vă! Aruncaţi-vă hainele şi încingeţi-vă coapsele cu haine de jale!

12 P eople shall mourn upon their breasts For the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

Bateţi-vă în piept şi plângeţi pentru câmpurile frumoase, pentru viţa plină de rod

13 O n the land of my people will come up thorns and briers, Yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city;

şi pentru pământul poporului meu pe care cresc acum spini şi mărăcini! Plângeţi pentru toate casele de petrecere şi pentru această cetate plină de veselie!

14 B ecause the palaces will be forsaken, The bustling city will be deserted. The forts and towers will become lairs forever, A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks—

Căci fortăreaţa va fi abandonată, cetatea zgomotoasă va fi părăsită, citadela şi turnul de veghe vor deveni vizuini pe vecie, o bucurie pentru măgarii sălbatici şi o păşune pentru turme,

15 U ntil the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest. The Peace of God’s Reign

până va fi turnat peste noi Duhul de sus şi pustia va deveni o grădină, iar grădina va fi privită ca o pădure.

16 T hen justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

Atunci judecata dreaptă va locui în pustie. Da, dreptatea va locui în grădina roditoare.

17 T he work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

Rodul dreptăţii va fi pacea, iar urmările dreptăţii vor fi liniştea şi încrederea pe vecie.

18 M y people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places,

Poporul Meu va trăi într-o locuinţă paşnică, într-un lăcaş sigur, în locuri de odihnă liniştite.

19 T hough hail comes down on the forest, And the city is brought low in humiliation.

Chiar dacă pădurea va cădea sub grindină şi cetatea va fi făcută una cu pământul,

20 B lessed are you who sow beside all waters, Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.

fericiţi veţi fi, semănând de-a lungul oricărei ape şi lăsând boul şi măgarul să pască liberi.
