1 ¶ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a prince of the Jews;

Среди фарисеев был один человек, которого звали Никодим. Он был одним из иудейских вождей.

2 t he same came to Jesus by night and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that thou doest unless God is with him.

Однажды ночью он пришел к Иисусу и сказал: – Рабби, мы знаем, что Ты Учитель, пришедший от Бога, потому что никто не может творить таких знамений, какие Ты творишь, если Бог не с ним.

3 J esus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a person be born again from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

В ответ Иисус сказал: – Говорю тебе истину, никто не может увидеть Божьего Царства, если не будет заново рожден.

4 N icodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born?

– Как это человек может быть рожден еще раз, когда он уже стар? – удивился Никодим. – Не может же он опять войти в утробу своей матери и снова родиться!

5 J esus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Иисус ответил: – Говорю тебе истину, никто не сможет войти в Царство Божье, если не будет рожден от воды и Духа.

6 T hat which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

От плоти рождается плоть, а Дух рождает дух.

7 M arvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again from above.

Не удивляйся тому, что Я сказал: вы должны быть заново рождены.

8 T he wind blows where it desires, and thou hearest the sound of it, but canst not tell from where it comes or where it goes; so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Ветер дует, где хочет. Ты слышишь его шум, но не можешь определить, откуда он приходит и куда уходит. Так же и с каждым рожденным от Духа.

9 N icodemus answered and said unto him, How can this be done?

– Как это может быть? – спросил Никодим.

10 J esus answered and said unto him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not this?

Иисус ответил: – Ты – учитель Израиля, и ты этого не понимаешь?

11 V erily, verily, I say unto thee that we speak what we know and testify that which we have seen, and ye do not receive our witness.

Говорю тебе истину: Мы говорим о том, что знаем, и свидетельствуем о том, что видели, но вы не принимаете Нашего свидетельства.

12 I f I have told you earthly things and ye do not believe, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?

Если Я сказал вам о земных вещах, и вы не верите, то как же вы поверите, если Я буду говорить вам о небесном?

13 A nd no one has ascended up to the heaven but he that came down from the heaven, even the Son of man, who is in the heaven.

Никто не поднимался на небо, кроме Того, Кто сошел с неба, то есть Сына Человеческого.

14 A nd as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up,

И как Моисей поднял змея в пустыне, так будет поднят и Сын Человеческий,

15 t hat whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

чтобы каждый, кто поверит в Него, имел жизнь вечную,

16 F or God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Ведь Бог так полюбил этот мир, что отдал Своего единственного Сына, чтобы каждый верующий в Него не погиб, но имел вечную жизнь.

17 F or God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

Бог послал Сына в мир не затем, чтобы осудить мир, но чтобы спасти мир через Него.

18 H e that believes on him is not condemned, but he that does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Верующий в Него не будет судим. Кто же не верит, тот уже осужден, потому что он не поверил во Имя единственного Сына Бога.

19 A nd this is the condemnation, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness more than the light because their deeds were evil.

Суд заключается в том, что в мир пришел Свет, но люди полюбили тьму больше, чем Свет, потому что их дела были злы.

20 F or every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Ведь каждый, кто делает зло, ненавидит Свет и не идет к Свету, чтобы не обнаружились его дела.

21 B ut he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Но кто живет по истине, тот, наоборот, идет к Свету, чтобы было ясно видно, что его дела совершены в Боге. Иоанн Креститель говорит об Иисусе

22 ¶ After these things Jesus and his disciples came into the land of Judaea, and he tarried there with them and baptized.

После этого Иисус с учениками пошли в Иудею. Там Иисус пробыл с ними некоторое время и крестил.

23 A nd John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim because there was much water there, and they came and were baptized.

Иоанн тоже продолжал крестить в Еноне, у Салима, потому что там было много воды. Люди постоянно приходили к нему креститься.

24 F or John was not yet cast into prison.

Это было еще до того, как Иоанна заключили в темницу.

25 T hen there arose a question between the disciples of John and the Jews about purifying.

Между некоторыми из учеников Иоанна и одним иудеем возник спор об обрядовом очищении.

26 A nd they came unto John and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan of whom thou gave witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.

Они пришли к Иоанну и сказали: – Рабби, Тот Человек, Который был с тобой на другой стороне реки Иордана и о Котором ты свидетельствовал, сейчас Сам крестит, и все идут к Нему.

27 J ohn answered and said, A man can receive nothing except it is given him from the heaven.

Иоанн ответил: – Человек может делать только то, что ему поручено Небом.

28 Y e yourselves are my witnesses that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

Вы сами свидетели тому, что я говорил: «Я не Христос, но я послан, чтобы идти впереди Него».

29 H e that has the bride is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice; this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

Невеста принадлежит жениху. Друг же жениха стоит рядом, слушает его радостный голос и сам радуется его счастью. В этом и моя радость, и сейчас она исполнилась.

30 I t is expedient unto him to increase, but unto me, to decrease.

Ему предстоит возвеличиваться, а мне умаляться.

31 H e that comes from above is above all; he that is of the earth is earthly and speaks earthly things: he that comes from heaven is above all.

Тот, Кто свыше приходит, выше всех, а земной принадлежит земле и говорит по-земному, но Пришедший с небес – превыше всех!

32 A nd what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no one receives his testimony.

Он свидетельствует о том, что Он Сам видел и слышал, но никто не принимает Его свидетельства.

33 H e that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true.

Тот же, кто принимает, свидетельствует, что Бог истинен.

34 F or he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God does not give the Spirit by measure unto him.

Посланный Богом говорит слова Божьи, и Бог дает Ему Своего Духа без всякого ограничения.

35 T he Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.

Отец любит Сына и все отдал в Его руки.

36 H e that believes in the Son has eternal life, and he that does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Верующий в Сына имеет жизнь вечную, тот же, кто отвергает Сына, не увидит жизни, и его ожидает Божий гнев.
