1 ¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

От старейшины – избранной госпоже и ее детям, которых я люблю как пребывающих в истине, и не только я, но и все, кто знает истину;

2 f or the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

потому что истина эта живет в нас и будет с нами всегда.

3 G race be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

Благодать, милость и мир будут с нами в истине и любви от Бога Отца и от Иисуса Христа, Его Сына. Повеление о любви

4 I have rejoiced greatly, for I have found of thy sons that they walk in the truth, as we have received the commandment from the Father.

Меня очень радует, что среди твоих детей есть ходящие в истине, как нам повелел Отец.

5 ¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, (not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning) that we love one another.

И сейчас, госпожа, я пишу тебе не какое-то новое повеление, но то, которое было у нас с самого начала: будем любить друг друга.

6 A nd this is charity, that we walk after his commandment. And this is the commandment, That ye walk in him, as ye have heard from the beginning.

И любовь эта заключается в том, чтобы мы соблюдали Его повеления. Вы с самого начала слышали Его повеление, по нему и поступайте. Оставайтесь верными Христу

7 ¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

Много обманщиков вышло в мир, не признающих, что Иисус Христос пришел в человеческом теле. Такой человек – обманщик и антихрист.

8 L ook to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

Смотрите, чтобы не потерять то, ради чего мы трудились, но чтобы получить полную награду.

9 W hosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

Кто не живет согласно учению Христа, но идет иным путем, тот не имеет в себе Бога. Но тот, кто остается верным Его учению, имеет в себе и Отца, и Сына.

10 ¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

Если кто-либо приходит к вам и приносит не это учение, того вы не должны принимать в дом и приветствовать его.

11 F or he that says unto him, Welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.

Кто приветствует такого человека, тот становится соучастником в его злых делах.

12 ¶ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

О многом еще я хотел бы вам сказать, но я не хочу доверять это бумаге и чернилам. Я надеюсь скоро быть у вас и лично поговорить с вами, чтобы наша радость была полной.
