1 ¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

¶ El anciano a la señora elegida y a sus hijos, a los cuales yo amo en verdad y no yo solo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,

2 f or the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

por la verdad que permanece en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:

3 G race be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

Sea con vosotros gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo, Hijo del Padre, en verdad y caridad.

4 I have rejoiced greatly, for I have found of thy sons that they walk in the truth, as we have received the commandment from the Father.

Mucho me he gozado, porque he hallado de tus hijos, que andan en la verdad, como nosotros hemos recibido el mandamiento del Padre.

5 ¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, (not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning) that we love one another.

¶ Y ahora te ruego, señora, (no como escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino aquel que nosotros hemos tenido desde el principio), que nos amemos unos a otros.

6 A nd this is charity, that we walk after his commandment. And this is the commandment, That ye walk in him, as ye have heard from the beginning.

Y esta es la caridad, que andemos según su mandamiento. Y el mandamiento es: Que andéis en él, como vosotros habéis oído desde el principio.

7 ¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

¶ Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesús el Cristo, es venido en carne. Este tal engañador es, y anticristo.

8 L ook to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

Mirad por vosotros mismos, para que no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos el galardón cumplido.

9 W hosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

Cualquiera que se rebela, y no permanece en la doctrina del Cristo, no tiene a Dios; el que permanece en la doctrina del Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.

10 ¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

¶ Si alguno viene a vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en vuestra casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!

11 F or he that says unto him, Welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.

Porque el que le dice bienvenido, participa con sus malas obras.

12 ¶ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

¶ Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribiros, no las he querido escribir por papel y tinta; mas yo espero ir a vosotros, y hablar cara a cara, para que nuestro gozo sea cumplido.

13 T he sons of thy chosen sister greet thee. Amen.

Los hijos de tu hermana elegida te saludan. Amén.
