1 ¶ On that same day King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, unto Esther, the queen. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told what he was unto her.

El mismo día dio el rey Asuero a la reina Ester la casa de Amán enemigo de los judíos; y Mardoqueo vino delante del rey, porque Ester le declaró lo que era respecto de ella.

2 A nd the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Y se quitó el rey su anillo que había vuelto a tomar de Amán, y lo dio a Mardoqueo. Y Ester puso a Mardoqueo sobre la casa de Amán.

3 ¶ And Esther spoke yet again before the king and fell down at his feet and besought him with tears to put away the evil of Haman, the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

Volvió luego Ester a hablar delante del rey, y se echó a sus pies, llorando y rogándole que hiciere nula la maldad de Amán agagueo, y su designio que había formado contra los judíos.

4 T hen the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king,

Entonces extendió el rey a Ester la vara de oro, y Ester se levantó, y se puso en pie delante del rey.

5 A nd said, If it pleases the king and if I have found grace in his sight and if the thing is right before the king and if I am good in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

Y dijo: Si place al rey, y si he hallado gracia delante de él, y si la cosa es recta delante del rey, y si yo soy buena en sus ojos, sea escrito para revocar las cartas del designio de Amán hijo de Hamedata agagueo, que escribió para destruir a los judíos que están en todas las provincias del rey.

6 F or how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my nation?

Porque ¿cómo podré yo ver el mal que alcanzará a mi pueblo? ¿Cómo podré yo ver la destrucción de mi nación?

7 T hen King Ahasuerus said unto Esther, the queen, and to Mordecai, the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him upon the gallows because he extended his hand against the Jews.

Y respondió el rey Asuero a la reina Ester, y a Mardoqueo judío: He aquí yo he dado a Ester la casa de Amán, y a él han colgado en la horca, por cuanto extendió su mano contra los judíos.

8 W rite ye also for the Jews, as it pleases you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring; for the writing which is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s ring may not be revoked.

Escribid pues vosotros a los judíos como bien os pareciere en el nombre del rey, y selladlo con el anillo del rey; porque la escritura que se escribe en el nombre del rey, y se sella con el anillo del rey, no es para revocarla.

9 T hen the king’s scribes were called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the twenty-third day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews and to the lieutenants and the captains and the princes of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces, unto each province according to the writing thereof, and unto each people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

Entonces fueron llamados los escribanos del rey en el mes tercero, que es Siván, a los veintitrés del mismo; y se escribió conforme a todo lo que mandó Mardoqueo, a los judíos, a los virreyes, a los capitanes, y a los príncipes de las provincias que había desde la India hasta Etiopía, ciento veintisiete provincias; a cada provincia según su escribir, y a cada pueblo conforme a su lengua, a los judíos también conforme a su escritura y lengua.

10 A nd he wrote in King Ahasuerus’s name and sealed it with the king’s ring and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, mules that were born of mares,

Y escribió en nombre del rey Asuero, y selló con el anillo del rey, y envió las cartas por correos de a caballo; caballeros en mulos, en mulos hijos de yeguas;

11 t hat the king granted power to the Jews who were in all the cities to gather themselves together and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish any army of the people or province that would assault them, and even their little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

que el rey daba facultad a los judíos que estaban en todas la ciudades, que se juntaran y estuvieran a la defensa de su vida, prontos a destruir, matar, y acabar con todo ejército de pueblo o provincia que viniera contra ellos, y aun sus niños y mujeres, y que los saquearen,

12 u pon the same day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

en un mismo día en todas las provincias del rey Asuero, en el trece del mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar.

13 T he copy of the writing which was to be given as law in each province was published unto all people and said that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves of their enemies.

La copia de la escritura que había de darse por ley en cada provincia, para que fuera manifiesta a todos los pueblos, decía que los judíos estuvieran apercibidos para aquel día, para vengarse de sus enemigos.

14 S o the posts rode upon mules, they went out on mules, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the law was given at Shushan, the palace.

Los correos pues, cabalgando en mulos; en mulos salieron apresurados y constreñidos por el mandamiento del rey; y la ley fue dada en Susa capital del reino.

15 ¶ And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white and with a great crown of gold and with a mantel of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

Y salió Mardoqueo de delante del rey con vestido real de cárdeno y blanco, y una gran corona de oro, y un manto de lino y púrpura; y la ciudad de Susa se alegró y regocijó.

16 T he Jews had light and gladness and joy and honour.

Los judíos tuvieron luz y alegría, gozo y honra.

17 A nd in each province and in each city wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a banquet and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews, for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

Y en cada provincia y en cada ciudad donde llegó el mandamiento del rey y su ley, los judíos tuvieron alegría y gozo, banquete y día de placer. Y muchos de los pueblos de la tierra se hacían judíos, porque el temor de los judíos había caído sobre ellos.
