1 ¶ In those days, as before, there was a great multitude, and they had nothing to eat; Jesus called his disciples unto him and said unto them,

¶ En aquellos días, como otra vez hubo gran multitud, y no tenían qué comer, Jesús llamó a sus discípulos, y les dijo:

2 I have mercy on the multitude because they have now been with me three days and have nothing to eat;

Tengo misericordia de la multitud, porque ya hace tres días que están conmigo; y no tienen qué comer.

3 A nd if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way, for some of them came from afar.

Si los envío en ayunas a sus casas, desmayarán en el camino; porque algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.

4 A nd his disciples answered him, From where can anyone satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

Sus discípulos le respondieron: ¿De dónde podrá alguien saciar a éstos de pan aquí en el desierto?

5 A nd he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

Y les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.

6 A nd he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; and taking the seven loaves and having given thanks, he broke them and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.

Entonces mandó a la multitud que se recostara en tierra; y tomando los siete panes, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y dio a sus discípulos que pusieran delante; y los pusieron delante a la multitud.

7 A nd they also had a few small fishes; and he blessed them and commanded to set them also before them.

Tenían también unos pocos pececillos; y los bendijo, y mandó que también los pusieran delante.

8 S o they ate and were filled; and they took up of the broken food that was left seven baskets.

Y comieron, y se saciaron; y levantaron de los pedazos que habían sobrado, siete canastas.

9 A nd those that had eaten were about four thousand; and he dispatched them.

Y eran los que comieron, como cuatro mil; y los despidió.

10 ¶ And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

¶ Luego entrando en el barco con sus discípulos, vino a la región de Dalmanuta.

11 A nd the Pharisees came forth and began to argue with him, demanding of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

Y vinieron los fariseos, y comenzaron a altercar con él, demandándole señal del cielo, tentándole.

12 A nd crying out in his spirit, he said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

Y gimiendo de su espíritu, dice: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? De cierto os digo que no se dará señal a esta generación.

13 A nd he left them and, entering into the ship again, departed to the other side.

Y dejándolos, volvió a entrar en el barco, y se fue a la otra ribera.

14 N ow the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

Y se habían olvidado de tomar pan, y no tenían sino un pan consigo en el barco.

15 A nd he commanded them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

Y les mandó, diciendo: Mirad, guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos, y de la levadura de Herodes.

16 A nd they argued among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

Y altercaban los unos con los otros diciendo: Pan no tenemos.

17 A nd as Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why argue ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not consider nor understand? is your heart yet blind?

Y como Jesús lo entendió, les dice: ¿Qué altercáis, porque no tenéis pan? ¿No consideráis ni entendéis? ¿Aún tenéis ciego vuestro corazón?

18 H aving eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¿Teniendo ojos no veis, y teniendo oídos no oís? ¿Y no os acordáis?

19 W hen I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They said unto him, Twelve.

Cuando partí los cinco panes entre cinco mil, ¿cuántas canastas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Doce.

20 A nd when the seven loaves among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

Y cuando los siete panes entre cuatro mil, ¿cuántas canastas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.

21 A nd he said unto them, How is it that ye do not yet understand?

Y les dijo: ¿Cómo aún no entendéis?

22 ¶ And he came to Bethsaida, and they bring a blind man unto him and beseech him to touch him.

¶ Y vino a Betsaida; y le traen un ciego, y le ruegan que le tocara.

23 S o, taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting into his eyes and putting his hands upon them, he asked him if he saw anything.

Entonces, tomando la mano del ciego, le sacó fuera de la aldea; y escupiendo en sus ojos, y poniéndole las manos encima, le preguntó si veía algo.

24 A nd looking, he said, I see men; I see that they walk as trees.

Y él mirando, dijo: Veo los hombres, pues veo que andan como árboles.

25 A fter that, he put his hands again upon his eyes and caused him to see; and he was whole and saw everyone, far away and clearly.

Luego le puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y le hizo que mirara; y fue sano, y vio de lejos y claramente a todos.

26 A nd he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

Y le envió a su casa, diciendo: No entres en la aldea, ni lo digas a nadie en la aldea.

27 ¶ And Jesus and his disciples went out into the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

¶ Salió Jesús y sus discípulos por las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo. Y en el camino preguntó a sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?

28 A nd they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.

Ellos respondieron: Juan Bautista; y otros, Elías; y otros: Alguno de los profetas.

29 T hen he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answered and said unto him, Thou art the Christ!

Entonces él les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y respondiendo Pedro, le dice: ¡Tú eres el Cristo!

30 A nd he commanded them that they should tell no one of this regarding him.

Y les mandó que no hablaran esto de él a ninguno.

31 A nd he began to teach them that it was convenient that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and of the scribes, and be killed and after three days rise again.

Y comenzó a enseñarles, que convenía que el Hijo del hombre padeciera mucho, y ser reprobado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas; y ser muerto, y resucitar después de tres días.

32 A nd he spoke this word clearly. Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him.

Y claramente decía esta palabra. Entonces Pedro le tomó, y le comenzó a reprender.

33 A nd he, turning about and looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get thyself from me, Satan, for thou knowest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men.

Y él, volviéndose y mirando a sus discípulos, riñó a Pedro, diciendo: Apartate de mí, Satanás; porque no sabes las cosas que son de Dios, sino las que son de los hombres.

34 A nd calling the multitude unto him with his disciples, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Y llamando a la multitud con sus discípulos, les dijo: Cualquiera que quisiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su madero, y sígame.

35 F or whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Porque el que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí y del Evangelio, éste la salvará.

36 F or what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si ganare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma?

37 O r what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?

38 W hosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adulterina y pecadora, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará también de él, cuando vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.
