1 ¶ A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.

¶ La respuesta suave quita la ira; mas la palabra áspera hace subir el furor.

2 ¶ The tongue of the wise shall adorn wisdom, but the mouth of fools shall speak foolishness.

¶ La lengua de los sabios adornará la sabiduría; mas la boca de los locos hablará locura.

3 ¶ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding those who are evil and those who are good.

¶ Los ojos del SEÑOR están en todo lugar, mirando a los malos y a los buenos.

4 ¶ The wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

¶ La sana lengua es árbol de vida; mas la perversidad en ella es una brecha en el espíritu.

5 ¶ The fool despises his father’s chastening, but he that regards reproof shall become prudent.

¶ El loco menosprecia el castigo de su padre; mas el que guarda la corrección, saldrá prudente.

6 ¶ In the house of the righteous is much provision, but in the fruit of the wicked is trouble.

¶ En la casa del justo hay gran provisión; pero turbación en los frutos del impío.

7 ¶ The lips of the wise disperse wisdom, but the heart of the foolish does not so.

¶ Los labios de los sabios esparcen sabiduría; mas no así el corazón de los locos.

8 ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¶ El sacrificio de los impíos es abominación al SEÑOR; mas la oración de los rectos es su gozo.

9 ¶ The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD, but he loves him that follows after righteousness.

¶ Abominación es al SEÑOR el camino del impío; mas él ama al que sigue justicia.

10 ¶ Chastening is grievous unto him that forsakes the way, but he that hates reproof shall die.

¶ El castigo es molesto al que deja el camino; mas el que aborreciere la corrección, morirá.

11 ¶ Sheol and hell are before the LORD; how much more then the hearts of men?

¶ El Seol y el infierno están delante del SEÑOR; ¡cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!

12 ¶ The scorner does not love the one that reproves him, neither will he go unto the wise.

¶ El burlador no ama al que le corrige; ni se junta con los sabios.

13 ¶ A joyful heart makes a beautiful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is abated.

¶ El corazón alegre hermosea el rostro; mas por el dolor del corazón el espíritu se abate.

14 ¶ The heart of him that has understanding seeks wisdom, but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

¶ El corazón entendido busca la sabiduría; mas la boca de los locos se alimenta de locura.

15 ¶ All the days of the poor are difficult, but he that is of a good heart has a continual feast.

¶ Todos los días del pobre son trabajosos; mas el de buen corazón tiene un convite continuo.

16 ¶ Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

¶ Mejor es lo poco con el temor del SEÑOR, que el gran tesoro donde hay turbación.

17 B etter is a dinner of vegetables where love is than a fatted calf and hatred therewith.

Mejor es la comida de legumbres donde hay amor, que de buey engordado donde hay odio.

18 ¶ A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

¶ El hombre iracundo revolverá contiendas; mas el que tarde se enoja, apaciguará la rencilla.

19 ¶ The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is made plain.

¶ El camino del perezoso es como seto de espinos; mas la vereda de los rectos como una calzada.

20 ¶ The wise son makes a glad father, but the foolish man despises his mother.

¶ El hijo sabio alegra al padre; mas el hombre loco menosprecia a su madre.

21 ¶ Folly is joy to him that is destitute of understanding, but the man who is intelligent walks uprightly.

¶ La locura es alegría al falto de entendimiento; mas el hombre inteligente enderezará su caminar.

22 ¶ Without counsel purposes are disappointed, but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

¶ Los pensamientos son frustrados donde no hay consejo; mas en la multitud de consejeros se afirman.

23 ¶ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

¶ El hombre se alegra con la respuesta de su boca; y la palabra a su tiempo, ¡cuán buena es!

24 ¶ The way of life is uphill to the wise, that he may separate himself from Sheol below.

¶ El camino de la vida es cuesta arriba al entendido, para apartarse del Seol abajo.

25 ¶ The LORD will destroy the house of the proud, but he will establish the inheritance of the widow.

¶ El SEÑOR asolará la casa de los soberbios; mas él afirmará la heredad de la viuda.

26 ¶ The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, but the speech of the pure is pure.

¶ Abominación son al SEÑOR los pensamientos del malo; mas el hablar de los limpios es limpio.

27 ¶ He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house, but he that hates gifts shall live.

¶ Alborota su casa el codicioso; mas el que aborrece las dádivas vivirá.

28 ¶ The heart of the righteous studies to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.

¶ El corazón del justo piensa para responder; mas la boca de los impíos derrama malas cosas.

29 ¶ The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

¶ Lejos está el SEÑOR de los impíos; mas él oye la oración de los justos.

30 ¶ The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and a good report makes the bones fat.

¶ La luz de los ojos alegra el corazón; y la buena fama engorda los huesos.

31 ¶ The ear that hears the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.

¶ La oreja que escucha la corrección de vida, entre los sabios morará.

32 ¶ He that refuses chastening despises his own soul, but he that hears reproof has an understanding heart.

¶ El que tiene en poco el castigo, menosprecia su alma; mas el que escucha la corrección, tiene corazón entendido.

33 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honour is humility.

¶ El temor del SEÑOR es enseñanza de sabiduría; y delante de la honra está la humildad.
