1 ¶ O ye sons of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem and blow the shofar in Tekoa and set up as a sign smoke in Bethhaccerem; for evil appears out of the north wind and great destruction.

Huid, hijos de Benjamín, de en medio de Jerusalén, y tocad shofar en Tecoa, y alzad por señal humo sobre Bet-haquerem; porque del aquilón se ha visto que viene mal, y quebrantamiento grande.

2 I shall liken the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

Como mujer hermosa y delicada comparé a la hija de Sion.

3 T he shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed each one his portion.

A ella vendrán pastores y sus rebaños; junto a ella y a su alrededor pondrán sus tiendas; cada uno apacentará a su parte.

4 P repare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up towards the south. Woe unto us! for the day goes away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

Denunciad guerra contra ella; levantaos y subamos hacia el mediodía. ¡Ay de nosotros! Que va cayendo ya el día, que las sombras de la tarde se han extendido.

5 A rise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

Levantaos, y subamos de noche, y destruyamos sus palacios.

6 F or thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Hew ye down trees and cast a mount against Jerusalem; this is the city that all of her is to be visited; there is violence in the midst of her.

Porque así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Cortad árboles, y extended baluarte junto a Jerusalén; ésta es la ciudad que toda ella ha de ser visitada; violencia hay en medio de ella.

7 A s the waters never cease to flow from a fountain, so her wickedness never ceases to flow; injustice and robbery is heard in her; in my presence continually, sickness and wounds.

Como la fuente nunca cesa de manar sus aguas, así nunca cesa de manar su malicia; injusticia y robo se oye en ella; continuamente en mi presencia, enfermedad y herida.

8 C hastise Jerusalem lest peradventure my soul be disjointed from thee, lest peradventure I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Castiga Jerusalén, para que por ventura no sea descoyuntado mi alma de ti, para que por ventura no te torne desierta, tierra no habitada.

9 ¶ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine; turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Del todo rebuscarán como a vid el resto de Israel; torna tu mano como vendimiador a los cestos.

10 T o whom shall I speak, and give warning that they may hear? behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken, behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

¿A quién tengo que hablar y amonestar, para que oigan? He aquí que sus orejas son incircuncisas, y no pueden escuchar. He aquí que la palabra del SEÑOR les es cosa vergonzosa; no la aman.

11 T herefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I have worked hard to hold myself in from pouring it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together; for the husband with the wife shall also be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

Por tanto, estoy lleno de la furia del SEÑOR, he trabajado por contenerme de derramarla sobre los niños en la calle, y sobre la reunión de los jóvenes juntamente; porque el marido también será preso con la mujer, el viejo con el lleno de días.

12 A nd their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

Y sus casas serán traspasadas a otros, sus heredades y también sus mujeres; porque extenderé mi mano sobre los moradores de la tierra, dice el SEÑOR.

13 F or from the least of them even unto the greatest of them each one is given to greed; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one deals falsely.

Porque desde el más chico de ellos hasta el más grande de ellos, cada uno sigue la avaricia; y desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, todos son engañadores.

14 T hey treat also the destruction of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

Y curan el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo con liviandad, diciendo: Paz, paz; y no hay paz.

15 W ere they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush; therefore, they shall fall among those that shall fall: at the time that I visit them they shall fall, saith the LORD.

¿Se han avergonzado de haber hecho abominación? No por cierto, no se han avergonzado, ni aun saben tener vergüenza; por tanto, caerán entre los que caerán; caerán cuando los visitare, dice el SEÑOR.

16 T hus hath the LORD said, Stand ye in the ways and see and ask for the old paths, where the good way is and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Así dijo el SEÑOR: Paraos en los caminos, y mirad, y preguntad por las sendas antiguas, cuál sea el buen camino, y andad por él, y hallaréis descanso para vuestra alma. Mas dijeron: No andaremos.

17 A lso I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the shofar. But they said, We will not hearken.

Desperté también sobre vosotros atalayas, que dijeran: Escuchad a la voz del shofar. Y dijeron ellos: No escucharemos.

18 ¶ Therefore hear, ye Gentiles, and know, O congregation of Gentiles.

Por tanto oíd, gentiles, y conoced, oh congregación de ellas.

19 H ear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts because they have not hearkened unto my words, and they hated my law.

Oye, tierra. He aquí yo traigo mal sobre este pueblo, el fruto de sus pensamientos; porque no escucharon a mis palabras, y aborrecieron mi ley.

20 T o what purpose does this incense come to me from Sheba and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not according to my will, nor are your sacrifices sweet unto me.

¿A qué viene para mí este incienso de Seba, y la buena caña olorosa de tierra lejana? Vuestros holocaustos no son a mi voluntad, ni vuestros sacrificios me dan gusto.

21 T herefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Por tanto, el SEÑOR dice esto: He aquí yo pongo a este pueblo tropiezos, y caerán en ellos los padres y los hijos juntamente, el vecino y su cercano perecerán.

22 T hus hath the LORD said, Behold, a people come from the land of the north wind, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que viene pueblo de tierra del aquilón, y gente grande se levantará de los cantones de la tierra.

23 T hey shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and they shall have no mercy; their voice shall roar like the sea; and they shall ride upon horses set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

Arco y escudo arrebatarán; crueles son, que no tendrán misericordia; sonará la voz de ellos como el mar, y montarán a caballo como varones dispuestos para la guerra, contra ti, oh hija de Sion.

24 W e have heard the fame thereof; our hands wax feeble; anguish has taken hold of us, and pain as of a woman in travail.

Su fama oímos, y nuestras manos se descoyuntaron; se apoderó de nosotros angustia, dolor como de mujer que está de parto.

25 D o not go forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

No salgas al campo, ni andes por camino; porque espada de enemigo y temor hay por todas partes.

26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth and wallow thyself in ashes; make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us.

Hija de mi pueblo, cíñete de cilicio, y revuélcate en ceniza; hazte luto como por hijo único, llanto de amarguras, porque presto vendrá sobre nosotros el destruidor.

27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people; thou shalt know and examine their way.

Por fortaleza te he puesto en mi pueblo, por torre; conocerás pues, y examinarás el camino de ellos.

28 T hey are all rebellious princes; they walk with deception: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

Todos ellos príncipes rebeldes, andan con engaño; son bronce y hierro; todos ellos son corruptores.

29 T he bellows are burned; the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melts in vain; for the wicked are not plucked away.

Se quemó el fuelle del fuego, se ha gastado el plomo; por demás fundió el fundidor, pues los malos no son arrancados.

30 R eprobate silver shall men call them because the LORD has rejected them.

Plata desechada los llamarán, porque el SEÑOR los desechó.
