1 ¶ Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered and said,

Y respondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

2 H ow long wilt thou speak such things and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

¿Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, y las palabras de tu boca serán como un viento fuerte?

3 S hall God pervert that which is right or shall the Almighty pervert justice?

¿Por ventura pervertirá Dios el derecho, o el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia?

4 B ecause thy sons sinned against him, he cast them away in the place of their rebellion;

Porque tus hijos pecaron contra él, él los echó en el lugar de su rebelión.

5 i f thou would seek God early and make thy supplication to the Almighty,

Si tú de mañana buscares a Dios, y rogares al Todopoderoso;

6 i f thou wert pure and upright, surely now he would awake upon thee and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

si fueres limpio y derecho, cierto luego se despertará sobre ti, y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

7 I n such a way that thy beginning would have been small, in comparison to the great increase of thy latter.

De tal manera que tu principio habrá sido pequeño, en comparación del grande crecimiento de tu postrimería.

8 ¶ Ask, I pray thee, of the former age, and be willing to enquire of thy fathers regarding them;

Porque pregunta ahora a la edad pasada, y disponte para inquirir de sus padres de ellas;

9 f or we are but of yesterday and know nothing because our days upon earth are as a shadow.

porque nosotros somos desde ayer, y no sabemos, siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra.

10 S hall they not teach thee and tell thee and utter these words out of their heart?

¿Por ventura ellos no te enseñarán, te dirán, y de su corazón sacarán estas palabras?

11 C an the rush grow up without mire? Can the meadow grow without water?

¿Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿Crece el prado sin agua?

12 W hilst it is yet in its greenness and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

Aun él en su verdor sin haber sido cortado, y antes de toda hierba se seca.

13 S o are the paths of all that forget God, and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish.

Tales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan a Dios; y la esperanza del hipócrita perecerá.

14 F or his hope shall be cut off, and his trust is a spider’s web.

Porque su esperanza será cortada, y su confianza es casa de araña.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

El se apoyará sobre su casa, pero no permanecerá en pie; se asirá a ella, más no se afirmará.

16 L ike a tree, he is green before the sun, and his branches go forth over his garden;

A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto;

17 h is roots weave themselves around a spring and secure themselves even in a stony place.

se van entretejiendo sus raíces junto a una fuente, y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso.

18 I f he is uprooted from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

Si le arrancaren de su lugar, éste le negará entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

19 B ehold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth from where he was transplanted, others shall grow.

Ciertamente éste será el gozo de su camino; y de la tierra de donde se traspusiere, retoñarán otros.

20 ¶ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man; neither will he help the evil doers.

He aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, ni toma la mano de los malignos.

21 H e will yet fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouts of joy.

Aun llenará tu boca de risa, y tus labios de gritos de alegría.

22 T hose that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

Los que te aborrecen, serán vestidos de confusión; y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.
