1 ¶ Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered and said,

Y RESPONDIO Bildad Suhita, y dijo:

2 H ow long wilt thou speak such things and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

¿Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, Y las palabras de tu boca serán como un viento fuerte?

3 S hall God pervert that which is right or shall the Almighty pervert justice?

¿Acaso pervertirá Dios el derecho, O el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia?

4 B ecause thy sons sinned against him, he cast them away in the place of their rebellion;

Si tus hijos pecaron contra él, El los echó en el lugar de su pecado.

5 i f thou would seek God early and make thy supplication to the Almighty,

Si tú de mañana buscares á Dios, Y rogares al Todopoderoso;

6 i f thou wert pure and upright, surely now he would awake upon thee and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

Si fueres limpio y derecho, Cierto luego se despertará sobre ti, Y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

7 I n such a way that thy beginning would have been small, in comparison to the great increase of thy latter.

Y tu principio habrá sido pequeño, Y tu postrimería acrecerá en gran manera.

8 ¶ Ask, I pray thee, of the former age, and be willing to enquire of thy fathers regarding them;

Porque pregunta ahora á la edad pasada, Y disponte para inquirir de sus padres de ellos;

9 f or we are but of yesterday and know nothing because our days upon earth are as a shadow.

Pues nosotros somos de ayer, y no sabemos, Siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra.

10 S hall they not teach thee and tell thee and utter these words out of their heart?

¿No te enseñarán ellos, te dirán, Y de su corazón sacarán palabras?

11 C an the rush grow up without mire? Can the meadow grow without water?

¿Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿Crece el prado sin agua?

12 W hilst it is yet in its greenness and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

Aun él en su verdor no será cortado, Y antes de toda hierba se secará.

13 S o are the paths of all that forget God, and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish.

Tales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan á Dios: Y la esperanza del impío perecerá:

14 F or his hope shall be cut off, and his trust is a spider’s web.

Porque su esperanza será cortada, Y su confianza es casa de araña.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

Apoyaráse él sobre su casa, mas no permanecerá en pie; Atendráse á ella, mas no se afirmará.

16 L ike a tree, he is green before the sun, and his branches go forth over his garden;

A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, Y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto;

17 h is roots weave themselves around a spring and secure themselves even in a stony place.

Vanse entretejiendo sus raíces junto á una fuente, Y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso.

18 I f he is uprooted from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

Si le arrancaren de su lugar, Este negarále entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

19 B ehold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth from where he was transplanted, others shall grow.

Ciertamente éste será el gozo de su camino; Y de la tierra de donde se traspusiere, nacerán otros.

20 ¶ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man; neither will he help the evil doers.

He aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, Ni toma la mano de los malignos.

21 H e will yet fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouts of joy.

Aun henchirá tu boca de risa, Y tus labios de júbilo.

22 T hose that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

Los que te aborrecen, serán vestidos de confusión; Y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.
