1 ¶ Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered and said,

Respondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

2 H ow long wilt thou speak such things and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

¿Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, Y las palabras de tu boca serán como viento impetuoso?

3 S hall God pervert that which is right or shall the Almighty pervert justice?

¿Acaso torcerá Dios el derecho, O pervertirá el Todopoderoso la justicia?

4 B ecause thy sons sinned against him, he cast them away in the place of their rebellion;

Si tus hijos pecaron contra él, Él los entregó a merced de su pecado.

5 i f thou would seek God early and make thy supplication to the Almighty,

Si tú de mañana buscas a Dios, E imploras al Todopoderoso;

6 i f thou wert pure and upright, surely now he would awake upon thee and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

Si eres limpio y recto, Ciertamente luego él velará por ti, Y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

7 I n such a way that thy beginning would have been small, in comparison to the great increase of thy latter.

Y aunque tu principio haya sido pequeño, Tu postrer estado será muy grande.

8 ¶ Ask, I pray thee, of the former age, and be willing to enquire of thy fathers regarding them;

Porque pregunta ahora a las generaciones pasadas, Y atiende a lo que sus padres averiguaron;

9 f or we are but of yesterday and know nothing because our days upon earth are as a shadow.

Pues nosotros somos de ayer, y nada sabemos, Siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como una sombra.

10 S hall they not teach thee and tell thee and utter these words out of their heart?

¿No te enseñarán ellos, te hablarán, Y de su corazón sacarán palabras?

11 C an the rush grow up without mire? Can the meadow grow without water?

¿Crece el papiro fuera del pantano? ¿Crece el junco fuera del agua?

12 W hilst it is yet in its greenness and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

Aun en su verdor, y sin haber sido cortado, Con todo, se seca primero que toda hierba.

13 S o are the paths of all that forget God, and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish.

Tal es el final de todos los que olvidan a Dios; Y la esperanza del impío perecerá;

14 F or his hope shall be cut off, and his trust is a spider’s web.

Porque su esperanza será cortada como un hilo, Y su confianza es como tela de araña.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

Se apoyará él en su casa, mas no permanecerá ella en pie; Asirá de ella, mas no resistirá.

16 L ike a tree, he is green before the sun, and his branches go forth over his garden;

A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, Y sus renuevos salen por encima de su huerto;

17 h is roots weave themselves around a spring and secure themselves even in a stony place.

Se van entretejiendo sus raíces junto a un montón de piedras, Y enlazándose hasta un muro de piedra.

18 I f he is uprooted from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

Si le arrancan de su lugar, Éste le negará entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

19 B ehold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth from where he was transplanted, others shall grow.

Ciertamente éste será el final de su camino gozoso. Y de la misma tierra brotarán otros.

20 ¶ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man; neither will he help the evil doers.

He aquí, Dios no rechaza al hombre íntegro, Ni apoya la mano de los malignos.

21 H e will yet fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouts of joy.

Aún llenará tu boca de risa, Y tus labios de júbilo.

22 T hose that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

Los que te aborrecen serán vestidos de confusión; Y la morada de los impíos desaparecerá.
