1 ¶ Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,

2 u nto the congregation of God which is at Corinth, to those that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

4 I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which is given you in Christ Jesus,

Doy gracias a mi Dios continuamente por vosotros, por la gracia de Dios que os fue dada en Cristo Jesús;

5 t hat in every thing ye are enriched in him in all word and in all knowledge,

porque en todas las cosas fuisteis enriquecidos en él, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento;

6 w ith which the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

en la medida en que el testimonio acerca de Cristo ha sido consolidado en vosotros,

7 s o that ye lack nothing in any gift, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

de tal manera que nada os falta en ningún don a los que esperáis anhelantes la revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

8 w ho shall also confirm that ye shall remain unimpeachable unto the end, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

el cual también os afianzará hasta el fin, para que seáis irreprensibles en el día de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

9 G od is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Fiel es Dios, por el cual fuisteis llamados a la comunión con su Hijo Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Exhortación a la unidad

10 ¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.

Os exhorto, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya entre vosotros divisiones, sino que estéis perfectamente unidos en una misma mente y en un mismo parecer.

11 F or it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

Porque he sido informado acerca de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los de Cloé, que hay entre vosotros contiendas.

12 I n other words, that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

Me refiero a que cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo soy de Pablo; y yo de Apolos; y yo de Cefas; y yo de Cristo.

13 I s the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?

¿Acaso está dividido Cristo? ¿Fue crucificado Pablo por vosotros? ¿O fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

14 ¶ I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius,

Doy gracias a Dios de que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado, sino a Crispo y a Gayo,

15 l est any should say that ye were baptized into my name.

para que nadie diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre.

16 A nd I baptized also the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

También bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no sé si he bautizado a algún otro.

17 ¶ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

Pues no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio; no con sabiduría de palabras, para que no se desvirtúe la cruz de Cristo. Cristo, poder y sabiduría de Dios

18 F or the word of the cross is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

Porque el mensaje de la cruz es locura para los que se están perdiendo; pero para nosotros que somos salvos, es poder de Dios.

19 F or it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Pues está escrito: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, Y desecharé el entendimiento de los entendidos.

20 W here is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the philosopher of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde está el letrado? ¿Dónde está el discutidor de este mundo? ¿No ha convertido Dios la sabiduría del mundo en necedad?

21 F or in the wisdom of God, since the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.

Pues ya que en la sabiduría de Dios, el mundo no conoció a Dios mediante la sabiduría, agradó a Dios salvar a los creyentes mediante la locura de la predicación.

22 F or the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom,

Puesto que los judíos piden señales, y los griegos buscan sabiduría;

23 b ut we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock and unto the Gentiles foolishness;

pero nosotros predicamos a Cristo crucificado, para los judíos ciertamente tropezadero, y para los gentiles locura;

24 b ut unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

mas para aquellos que son llamados, así judíos como griegos, Cristo es poder de Dios, y sabiduría de Dios.

25 F or that which is foolish of God is wiser than men, and that which is weak of God is stronger than men.

Porque lo insensato de Dios es más sabio que los hombres, y lo débil de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.

26 F or look upon your vocation, brothers, that ye are not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,

Pues mirad, hermanos, vuestro llamamiento, que no sois muchos sabios según la carne, ni muchos poderosos, ni muchos nobles;

27 b ut rather God has chosen that which is the foolishness of the world to confound the wise, and God has chosen that which is the weakness of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

sino que escogió Dios lo necio del mundo, para avergonzar a los sabios; y escogió Dios lo débil del mundo, para avergonzar a lo fuerte;

28 a nd that which is vile of the world and that which is despised God has chosen, and things which are not, to bring to nought the things that are,

y lo vil del mundo y lo menospreciado escogió Dios, y lo que no es, para anular lo que es,

29 t hat no flesh should glory in his presence.

a fin de que nadie se jacte en su presencia.

30 B ut of him ye are reborn in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

Mas por obra suya estáis vosotros en Cristo Jesús, el cual nos ha sido hecho de parte de Dios sabiduría, justificación, santificación y redención;

31 t hat, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.

para que, tal como está escrito: El que se gloría, gloríese en el Señor.
