1 ¶ Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered and said,

Respondió Zofar naamatita, y dijo:

2 S hould not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?

¿Tanta palabrería no ha de tener respuesta? ¿Y tendrá razón el charlatán?

3 S hould thy lies make men be silent? Shalt thou mock, and shall no man make thee ashamed?

¿Harán tus falacias callar a los hombres? ¿Harás escarnio y no habrá quien te avergüence?

4 F or thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean before thine eyes.

Tú dices: Mi doctrina es pura, Y yo soy limpio delante de tus ojos.

5 B ut oh, that God would speak and open his lips against thee

Mas ¡oh, quién diera que Dios hablara, Y abriera sus labios para responderte,

6 a nd that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom! For thou dost deserve double according to sound wisdom; and thou dost know that God has forgotten thee because of thine iniquity.

Y te declarara los secretos de la sabiduría, Que son de doble valor que tus argucias! Conocerías entonces que Dios te ha castigado menos de lo que tu iniquidad merece.

7 ¶ Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou come unto the perfection of the Almighty?

¿Descubrirás tú las profundidades de Dios? ¿Alcanzarás el límite de la perfección del Todopoderoso?

8 I t is higher than the heavens; what canst thou do? It is deeper than Sheol; how canst thou know it?

Es más alta que los cielos; ¿qué harás? Es más profunda que el Seol; ¿cómo la conocerás?

9 T he measure of it is longer than the earth and broader than the sea.

Su dimensión es más extensa que la tierra, Y más ancha que el mar.

10 I f he cuts off, or shuts up, or gathers together, then who can hinder him?

Si él pasa, y aprisiona, y llama a juicio, ¿Quién podrá contrarrestarle?

11 F or he knows the vain men; and he sees the iniquity; will he not then understand it?

Porque él conoce a los hombres vanos; Ve asimismo la iniquidad, ¿y no hará caso?

12 T he vain man shall make himself understood, though man is born like a wild ass’s colt.

El hombre vano se hará entendido, Cuando un asno montés se convierta en hombre.

13 ¶ If thou would prepare thine heart and stretch out thine hands toward him;

Si tú diriges tu corazón a Dios, Y extiendes a él tus manos;

14 i f there is any iniquity in thy hand and thou dost put it far away and dost not consent that wickedness dwell in thy habitations,

Si alguna iniquidad hay en tu mano, y la echas de ti, Y no consientes que more en tu casa la injusticia,

15 t hen shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; thou shalt be strongly established and shalt not fear;

Entonces levantarás tu rostro limpio de mancha, Y serás fuerte, y nada temerás;

16 a nd thou shalt forget thy misery and remember it as waters that passed away;

Y olvidarás tu miseria, O te acordarás de ella como de aguas que pasaron.

17 a nd thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

La vida te será más luminosa que el mediodía; Aunque oscurezca, será como el amanecer.

18 A nd thou shalt trust because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig and sleep in safety;

Tendrás confianza, porque hay esperanza; Mirarás alrededor de tu tienda, y dormirás seguro.

19 t hou shalt lie down, and no one shall make thee afraid; and many shall make requests unto thee.

Te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante; Y muchos buscarán tu favor.

20 B ut the eyes of the wicked shall consume themselves, and they shall have no refuge, and their hope shall be agony of the soul.

Pero los ojos de los malos se consumirán, Y no tendrán refugio; Y su esperanza será dar su último suspiro.
