1 ¶ Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain that build it; unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchmen watch in vain.

Si Jehová no edifica la casa, En vano trabajan los que la edifican; Si Jehová no guarda la ciudad, En vano vela la guardia.

2 I t is vain for you to rise up early, to come home late, to eat the bread of sorrows, because he shall give his beloved sleep.

Por demás es que os levantéis de madrugada, y que retraséis el descanso, Y que comáis pan de fatigas; Pues que a sus amados lo da Dios mientras duermen.

3 B ehold, sons are a heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is to be desired.

He aquí, herencia de parte de Jehová son los hijos; Recompensa de Dios, el fruto del vientre.

4 A s arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the young men.

Como saetas en mano del guerrero, Así son los hijos habidos en la juventud.

5 H appy is the man that has filled his quiver with them: he shall not be ashamed when he speaks with the enemies in the gate.

Bienaventurado el hombre que llenó su aljaba de ellos; No será avergonzado Cuando tenga litigio con los enemigos en la puerta.
