1 ¶ And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

Tres años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

2 A nd it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, came down to the king of Israel.

Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

3 A nd the king of Israel said unto his slaves, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are late in not taking it out of the hand of the king of Syria?

Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra, y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de mano del rey de Siria?

4 A nd he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo, y mis caballos como tus caballos. Los falsos profetas predicen el éxito

5 A nd Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today.

Dijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

6 T hen the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: ¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

7 A nd Jehoshaphat said, Is there even yet a prophet of the LORD here that we might enquire of him?

Y dijo Josafat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, por el cual consultemos?

8 A nd the king of Israel replied unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah, the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

El rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Miqueas hijo de Yimlá; mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

9 T hen the king of Israel called a eunuch and said, Bring Micaiah, the son of Imlah, here quickly.

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Miqueas hijo de Yimlá.

10 A nd the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in the plaza at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them.

Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

11 A nd Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, made himself horns of iron, and he said, Thus hath the LORD said, With these shalt thou push the Syrians until thou have consumed them.

Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con éstos acornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos.

12 A nd all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead and be prospered, for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.

Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey. El profeta Miqueas predice el fracaso

13 A nd the messenger that had gone to call Micaiah spoke unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth; now let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them and speak that which is good.

Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Miqueas, le habló diciendo: He aquí que las palabras de los profetas a una voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia también buen éxito.

14 A nd Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, all that the LORD says unto me, that will I speak.

Y Miqueas respondió: Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hable, eso diré.

15 ¶ So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go and be prospered, for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

Vino, pues, al rey, y el rey le dijo: Miqueas, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos? Él le respondió: Sube, y serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

16 A nd the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre de Jehová?

17 T hen he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains as sheep without a shepherd; and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return each man to his house in peace.

Entonces él dijo: Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y Jehová dijo: Éstos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz.

18 A nd the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

19 T hen he said, Hear thou, therefore, the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne and all the host of the heavens standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

Entonces él dijo: Oye, pues, palabra de Jehová: Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

20 A nd the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said in this manner and another said in that manner.

Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera, y otro decía de otra.

21 A nd there came forth a spirit and stood before the LORD and said, I will persuade him.

Y salió un espíritu y se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

22 A nd the LORD said unto him, In what manner? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also; go forth and do so.

Él dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Le inducirás, y aun lo conseguirás; ve, pues, y hazlo así.

23 N ow, therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD has decreed evil concerning thee.

Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.

24 T hen Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, went near and smote Micaiah on the cheek and said, Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak unto thee?

Entonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná y golpeó a Miqueas en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

25 A nd Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

Y Miqueas respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

26 T hen the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah and carry him back unto Amon, the governor of the city, and to Joash, the king’s son

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Miqueas, y llévalo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey;

27 a nd say, Thus hath the king said, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

y dirás: Así ha dicho el rey: Echad a éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

28 A nd Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me. Then he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

Y dijo Miqueas: Si llegas a volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oíd, pueblos todos.

29 ¶ So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went up to Ramothgilead.

Subió, pues, el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad.

30 A nd the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and enter into the battle, but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla; y tú ponte tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

31 B ut the king of Syria commanded his thirty-two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, but only with the king of Israel.

Mas el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

32 A nd when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, Surely this is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out.

Cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

33 A nd it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

Viendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

34 B ut a certain man, shooting his bow in perfection, smote the king of Israel between the joints of his coat of mail; therefore, he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thy hand and carry me out of the host, for I am wounded.

Y un hombre disparó su arco a la ventura e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: Da la vuelta, y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.

35 A nd the battle had increased that day, and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians and died in the evening, and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

Pero la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

36 A nd at the going down of the sun there went a proclamation throughout the camp, saying, Every man to his city and every man to his own land.

Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento, diciendo: ¡Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!

37 S o the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the king in Samaria.

Murió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

38 A nd they washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria, and they also washed his armour; and the dogs licked up his blood, according unto the word of the LORD which he had spoken.

Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; y los perros lamieron su sangre; y también lavaron su armadura, conforme a la palabra que Jehová había hablado.

39 N ow the rest of the acts of Ahab and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

El resto de los hechos de Acab, y todo lo que hizo, y la casa de marfil que construyó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

40 S o Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah, his son, reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo. Reinado de Josafat

41 ¶ And Jehoshaphat, the son of Asa, began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab, king of Israel.

Josafat hijo de Asá comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel.

42 J ehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.

Era Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azubá hija de Silhí.

43 A nd he walked in all the ways of Asa, his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD. Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away, for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asá su padre, sin desviarse de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque el pueblo sacrificaba aún, y quemaba incienso en ellos.

44 A nd Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

45 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat and his might that he showed and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Josafat, y sus hazañas, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

46 A nd the remnant of the male cult prostitutes, which had remained from the days of his father Asa, he consumed out of the land.

Barrió también de la tierra el resto de los sodomitas que había quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asá.

47 T here was then no king in Edom; there was a president instead of a king.

No había entonces rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

48 J ehoshaphat had made ships in Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go, for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.

Josafat había hecho naves de Tarsis, las cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; mas no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezyón-géber.

49 T hen Ahaziah, the son of Ahab, said unto Jehoshaphat, Let my slaves go with thy slaves in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

Entonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en las naves. Mas Josafat no quiso.

50 A nd Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, his father, and Jehoram, his son, reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Israel

51 A haziah, the son of Ahab, began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the year seventeen of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

Ocozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

52 A nd he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin,

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, que hizo pecar a Israel;

53 f or he served Baal and worshipped him and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

porque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira a Jehová Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre.
