1 ¶ The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

La palabra que vino de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

2 H ear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto every man of Judah and to every inhabitant of Jerusalem;

Oíd las palabras de este pacto, y hablad a todo varón de Judá, y a todo morador de Jerusalén.

3 a nd thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said: Cursed be the man that does not hear the words of this covenant,

Y diles: Así dice Jehová el Dios de Israel: Maldito el varón que no escuche las palabras de este pacto,

4 w hich I commanded your fathers the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying unto them, hear my voice and comply with my words according to all which I command you; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God

el cual mandé a vuestros padres el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciéndoles: Escuchad mi voz, y cumplid mis palabras, conforme a todo lo que os mando; y me seréis por pueblo, y yo seré a vosotros por Dios;

5 t hat I may confirm the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, that I would give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then I answered, and said, Amen, O LORD.

para que confirme el juramento que hice a vuestros padres, que les daría una tierra que fluye leche y miel, como es en el día de hoy. Y respondí y dije: Amén, oh Jehová.

6 A nd the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant and do them.

Y Jehová me dijo: Proclama todas estas palabras en ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo: Escuchad las palabras de este pacto, y ponedlas por obra.

7 F or I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Hear my voice.

Porque solemnemente advertí a vuestros padres el día que les hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, amonestándoles desde el principio y sin cesar hasta el día de hoy, diciendo: Prestad atención a mi voz.

8 Y et they did not hear, nor did they incline their ear, but walked each one in the imagination of their evil heart; therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

Pero no atendieron, ni inclinaron su oído, anduvo cada uno en la dureza de su malvado corazón; por tanto, he traído sobre ellos todas las palabras de este pacto, el cual mandé que cumpliesen, y no lo cumplieron.

9 A nd the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Y me dijo Jehová: Se ha hallado una conspiración entre los varones de Judá, y entre los moradores de Jerusalén.

10 T hey have returned to the iniquities of their first fathers, who refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

Se han vuelto a las maldades de sus antepasados, los cuales rehusaron escuchar mis palabras, y se fueron tras dioses ajenos para servirles; la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han quebrantado mi pacto, el cual había yo concertado con sus padres.

11 ¶ Therefore thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo traigo sobre ellos un mal del que no podrán salir; y clamarán a mí, y no los escucharé.

12 T hen shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense, who shall not be able to save them in the time of their trouble.

E irán las ciudades de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén, y clamarán a los dioses a quienes queman ellos incienso, los cuales no los podrán salvar en el tiempo de su desgracia.

13 F or according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of thy streets, O Jerusalem, have ye set up altars of confusion, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

Porque según el número de tus ciudades fueron tus dioses, oh Judá; y según el número de las calles de Jerusalén, pusiste los altares de ignominia, altares para ofrecer incienso a Baal.

14 T herefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me in their trouble.

Tú, pues, no ores por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración; porque yo no los oiré en el día que en su aflicción clamen a mí.

15 W hat part has my beloved in my house, seeing she has wrought lewdness with many? The holy flesh shall pass from upon thee, for in thy evil thou didst glory.

¿Qué tiene mi amado que hacer en mi casa, habiendo cometido tantas abominaciones? ¿Crees que las carnes santificadas de las víctimas pueden evitarte el castigo? Puesto que cuando haces la maldad, entonces te regocijas.

16 T he LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and in appearance. At the voice of a great word he caused fire to be kindled upon it, and they broke her branches.

Olivo frondoso, lozano, de hermoso fruto, llamó Jehová tu nombre. Al sonido de un gran estrépito hizo encender fuego sobre él, y se quebraron sus ramas.

17 F or the LORD of the hosts, that planted thee, has pronounced evil against thee for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

Porque Jehová de los ejércitos que te plantó ha pronunciado el mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad que la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han hecho, provocándome a ira con incensar a Baal. Complot contra Jeremías

18 ¶ And the LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I experienced it: then thou didst show me their doings.

Jehová me lo hizo saber, y lo conocí; entonces me hiciste ver sus obras.

19 B ut I was like a ram or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; for I did not understand that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living that his name may no longer be remembered.

Y yo era como cordero manso que llevan a degollar, pues no entendía que tramaban maquinaciones contra mí, diciendo: Destruyamos el árbol con su fruto, y cortémoslo de la tierra de los vivientes, para que no haya más memoria de su nombre.

20 B ut, O LORD of the hosts, that judges righteously, that tries the kidneys and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them, for unto thee I have uncovered my cause.

Pero, oh Jehová de los ejércitos, que juzgas con justicia, que escudriñas los riñones y el corazón, vea yo tu venganza de ellos; porque ante ti he expuesto mi causa.

21 T herefore, thus hath the LORD said regarding the men of Anathoth that seek thy life, saying, Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD that thou not die by our hand;

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová acerca de los varones de Anatot que buscan tu vida, diciendo: No profetices en nombre de Jehová, para que no mueras a nuestras manos;

22 t herefore, thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Behold, I visit: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

así, pues, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los castigaré; los jóvenes morirán a espada, sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre,

23 a nd there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.

y no quedará remanente de ellos, pues yo traeré el mal sobre los varones de Anatot, el año de su castigo.
