1 ¶ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.

Si yo hablara lenguas humanas y angélicas, pero no tengo amor, vengo a ser como bronce que resuena, o címbalo que retiñe.

2 A nd though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Y si tuviese profecía, y entendiese todos los misterios y toda ciencia, y si tuviese tanta fe como para trasladar montañas, pero no tengo amor, nada soy.

3 A nd though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

Y si repartiese todos mis bienes para dar de comer a los pobres, y si entregase mi cuerpo para ser quemado, pero no tengo amor, de nada me sirve.

4 ¶ Charity suffers long and is benign; charity envies not; charity does nothing without due reason, is not puffed up,

El amor es paciente, es servicial; el amor no tiene envidia, el amor no es jactancioso, no se engríe;

5 i s not injurious, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil,

no hace nada indecoroso, no busca su propio interés, no se irrita, no toma en cuenta el mal;

6 r ejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

no se goza de la injusticia, mas se goza de la verdad.

7 b ears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Todo lo excusa, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

8 ¶ Charity is never lost, but prophecies shall come to an end, tongues shall cease, and knowledge shall come to an end.

El amor no caduca jamás; pero las profecías caerán en desuso, y cesarán las lenguas, y el conocimiento actual quedará fuera de uso.

9 F or we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

Porque en parte conocemos, y en parte profetizamos;

10 B ut when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

mas cuando venga lo perfecto, entonces lo que es en parte quedará fuera de uso.

11 W hen I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Cuando yo era niño, hablaba como niño, pensaba como niño, razonaba como niño; mas cuando me hice hombre, dejé a un lado lo que era de niño.

12 F or now we see as through a mirror, in darkness, but then we shall see face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know even as I also am known.

Pues ahora vemos mediante espejo, borrosamente; mas entonces veremos cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte; pero entonces conoceré tan cabalmente como soy conocido.

13 A nd now abide faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Y ahora, permanecen la fe, la esperanza y el amor, estos tres; pero el mayor de ellos es el amor.
