1 ¶ Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,

Pavel, chemat prin voia lui Dumnezeu să fie apostol al lui Cristos Isus, şi fratele Sostenes,

2 u nto the congregation of God which is at Corinth, to those that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

către biserica lui Dumnezeu care este în Corint, către cei sfinţiţi în Cristos Isus, chemaţi să fie sfinţi împreună cu toţi cei ce cheamă Numele Domnului nostru, Isus Cristos, Domnul lor şi al nostru, în orice loc:

3 G race be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

har şi pace de la Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, şi de la Domnul Isus Cristos! Mulţumire

4 I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which is given you in Christ Jesus,

Întotdeauna Îi mulţumesc Dumnezeului meu pentru voi, din pricina harului lui Dumnezeu, care v-a fost dat în Cristos Isus

5 t hat in every thing ye are enriched in him in all word and in all knowledge,

şi datorită căruia aţi fost îmbogăţiţi în vorbire şi în orice fel de cunoaştere,

6 w ith which the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

întrucât mărturia despre Cristos a fost confirmată în mijlocul vostru.

7 s o that ye lack nothing in any gift, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Astfel, aşteptând descoperirea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, voi nu sunteţi lipsiţi de nici un dar,

8 w ho shall also confirm that ye shall remain unimpeachable unto the end, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

iar El vă va şi întări până la sfârşit, astfel încât să fiţi fără vină în ziua Domnului nostru Isus Cristos.

9 G od is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Credincios este Dumnezeu, prin Care aţi fost chemaţi la părtăşia cu Fiul Său, Isus Cristos, Domnul nostru. Dezbinări în biserică

10 ¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.

Vă îndemn, fraţilor, în Numele Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, să aveţi toţi acelaşi fel de vorbire şi să nu fie dezbinări între voi, ci să fiţi pe deplin uniţi în gândire şi în scop.

11 F or it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

Căci, fraţilor, mi s-a dat de ştire despre voi, de către cei ai Cloei, că între voi sunt certuri.

12 I n other words, that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

Ceea ce vreau să spun este că fiecare dintre voi zice: „Eu sunt al lui Pavel!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Apolos!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Chifa!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Cristos!“

13 I s the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?

Oare a fost Cristos împărţit? Sau oare Pavel a fost răstignit pentru voi? Sau în numele lui Pavel aţi fost voi botezaţi?

14 ¶ I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius,

Îi mulţumesc lui Dumnezeu că n-am botezat pe nici unul dintre voi, în afară de Crispus şi Gaius,

15 l est any should say that ye were baptized into my name.

pentru ca nimeni să nu poată spune că aţi fost botezaţi în numele meu!

16 A nd I baptized also the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

Da, i-am botezat şi pe cei din casa lui Stefanas, dar în afară de aceştia nu ştiu să mai fi botezat pe altcineva.

17 ¶ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

Căci Cristos nu m-a trimis să botez, ci să vestesc Evanghelia, nu cu înţelepciunea vorbirii, ca nu cumva crucea lui Cristos să fie golită de folosul ei. Cristos, înţelepciunea şi puterea lui Dumnezeu

18 F or the word of the cross is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

Căci mesajul crucii este o nebunie pentru cei ce pier, însă pentru noi, cei care suntem mântuiţi, este puterea lui Dumnezeu.

19 F or it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Fiindcă este scris: „Voi distruge înţelepciunea celor înţelepţi şi voi respinge priceperea celor pricepuţi.“

20 W here is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the philosopher of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Unde este înţeleptul? Unde este cărturarul ? Unde este polemistul acestui veac? N-a prostit Dumnezeu înţelepciunea lumii?

21 F or in the wisdom of God, since the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.

Întrucât, în înţelepciunea lui Dumnezeu, lumea nu L-a cunoscut pe Dumnezeu prin înţelepciune, Dumnezeu a găsit de cuviinţă ca prin nebunia predicării să-i mântuiască pe cei care cred.

22 F or the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom,

Iudeii cer semne, iar grecii caută înţelepciune,

23 b ut we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock and unto the Gentiles foolishness;

însă noi Îl predicăm pe Cristos cel răstignit, o pricină de poticnire pentru iudei şi o nebunie pentru neamuri.

24 b ut unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Dar pentru cei chemaţi, atât iudei, cât şi greci, Cristos este puterea şi înţelepciunea lui Dumnezeu.

25 F or that which is foolish of God is wiser than men, and that which is weak of God is stronger than men.

Căci nebunia lui Dumnezeu este mai înţeleaptă decât oamenii şi slăbiciunea lui Dumnezeu este mai puternică decât oamenii.

26 F or look upon your vocation, brothers, that ye are not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,

Fraţilor, uitaţi-vă la voi, cei care aţi fost chemaţi: printre voi nu sunt mulţi înţelepţi în felul oamenilor, nici mulţi puternici, nici mulţi de viţă nobilă.

27 b ut rather God has chosen that which is the foolishness of the world to confound the wise, and God has chosen that which is the weakness of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

Dar Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile nebune ale lumii, ca să le facă de ruşine pe cele înţelepte; şi Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile slabe ale lumii, ca să le facă de ruşine pe cele tari.

28 a nd that which is vile of the world and that which is despised God has chosen, and things which are not, to bring to nought the things that are,

Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile de jos ale lumii şi lucrurile dispreţuite, ba chiar lucrurile care nu sunt, ca să anuleze lucrurile care sunt.

29 t hat no flesh should glory in his presence.

Astfel, nimeni nu se poate lăuda înaintea lui Dumnezeu.

30 B ut of him ye are reborn in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

Iar voi, datorită Lui, sunteţi în Cristos Isus, Care a devenit pentru noi înţelepciune de la Dumnezeu, dreptate, sfinţire şi răscumpărare,

31 t hat, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.

pentru ca, aşa cum este scris: „Cel ce se laudă să se laude în Domnul.“
