1 ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God to keep and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all the Gentiles of the earth;

Dacă vei asculta pe deplin de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, păzind şi împlinind toate poruncile pe care eu ţi le dau astăzi, Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, îţi va da întâietate peste toate neamurile pământului.

2 a nd all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee when thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Toate aceste binecuvântări vor veni peste tine şi vei avea parte de ele, dacă vei asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău.

3 B lessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

Vei fi binecuvântat în cetate şi la câmp.

4 B lessed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cows, and the flocks of thy sheep.

Rodul pântecelui tău şi rodul pământurilor tale, creşterea cirezilor tale şi creşterea turmelor tale vor fi binecuvântate.

5 B lessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Coşul şi covata ta vor fi binecuvântate.

6 B lessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Vei fi binecuvântat la venire şi la plecare.

7 T he LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face; they shall come out against thee one way and flee before thee seven ways.

Domnul îţi va da biruinţă asupra duşmanilor care se vor ridica împotriva ta. Pe un drum vor ieşi împotriva ta, dar pe şapte drumuri vor fugi dinaintea ta.

8 T he LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

Domnul va face ca binecuvântarea să fie în hambarele tale şi peste toate lucrurile pe care vei pune mâna în ţara pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, ţi-o dă.

9 T he LORD shall confirm thee as his holy people, as he has sworn unto thee, when thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God and walk in his ways.

Domnul te va face un popor sfânt, aşa cum ţi-a promis, dacă vei păzi poruncile Lui şi vei umbla în căile Lui.

10 A nd all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of thee.

Toate popoarele pământului vor vedea că Numele Domnului este chemat peste tine şi se vor teme de tine.

11 A nd the LORD shall cause thee to have good in abundance in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy beasts and in the fruit of thy ground, upon the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

Domnul te va copleşi cu bunătăţi – înmulţind rodul pântecelui tău, rodul animalelor tale şi al pământului tău – în ţara pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, a promis că ţi-o va da.

12 T he LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven, to give the rain unto thy land in its season and to bless all the work of thine hand. And thou shalt lend unto many Gentiles, and thou shalt not borrow.

El îţi va deschide cerul, vistieria Lui cea bună, pentru a-ţi da ploaie pe pământ la timp şi pentru a binecuvânta tot lucrul mâinilor tale. Vei împrumuta multe neamuri, dar tu nu vei lua cu împrumut.

13 A nd the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail, and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath, when thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to keep them and to fulfill them.

Domnul te va face cap, nu coadă; întotdeauna vei fi în frunte şi niciodată nu vei fi ultimul, dacă vei asculta de toate poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, pe care eu ţi le dau astăzi ca să le păzeşti şi să le împlineşti

14 A nd thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

şi dacă nu te vei abate de la nici o poruncă pe care ţi-o dau astăzi, nici la dreapta şi nici la stânga, păzindu - te ca nu cumva să te duci după alţi dumnezei şi să le slujeşti. Blesteme în urma neascultării

15 ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep, to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee today, that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee.

Dar dacă nu vei asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, păzind şi împlinind toate poruncile şi hotărârile pe care ţi le dau astăzi, toate aceste blesteme vor veni peste tine şi te vor ajunge.

16 C ursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

Vei fi blestemat în cetate şi la câmp.

17 C ursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Coşul şi covata ta vor fi blestemate.

18 C ursed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy cows and the flocks of thy sheep.

Rodul pântecelui tău, al pământului tău, al cirezilor tale şi al turmelor tale va fi blestemat.

19 C ursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Vei fi blestemat la venire şi la plecare.

20 T he LORD shall send upon thee cursing, destruction and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand to do, until thou art destroyed and perish quickly because of the wickedness of thy doings, by which thou hast forsaken me.

Domnul va trimite împotriva ta blestemul, neliniştea şi mustrarea în mijlocul tuturor lucrurilor pe care le vei face, până când vei fi nimicit şi vei pieri repede din cauza faptelor tale rele, pentru care L-ai părăsit.

21 T he LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee until he has consumed thee from off the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it.

Domnul va trimite peste tine ciuma, până te va nimici din ţara în care ai intrat ca s-o stăpâneşti.

22 T he LORD shall smite thee with a consumption and with a fever and with an inflammation and with an extreme burning and with the sword and with blight and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

El te va lovi cu tifos şi cu friguri, cu inflamaţie şi cu febră, cu sabie, cu filoxeră şi cu mană. Ele te vor urmări până te vor distruge.

23 A nd thy heavens which are over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

Cerul de deasupra capului tău va fi de cupru, iar pământul de sub tine va fi de fier.

24 T he LORD shall make the rain of thy land dust and ashes; from the heavens it shall come down upon thee, until thou art destroyed.

Domnul va trimite pe pământul tău ploaie de praf şi de pulbere. Ea va cădea din cer peste tine ca să te nimicească.

25 T he LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them and shalt be an object of trembling unto all the kingdoms of the earth.

Domnul va face să fii biruit de duşmanii tăi; pe un drum vei ieşi împotriva lor şi pe şapte drumuri vei fugi dinaintea lor. Vei fi o pricină de groază pentru toate regatele pământului.

26 A nd thy carcase shall be food unto all fowls of the air and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away.

Trupurile alor tăi vor fi hrană pentru toate păsările cerului şi pentru toate animalele pământului şi nu va fi nimeni care să le sperie.

27 T he LORD will smite thee with the boil of Egypt and with the hemorrhoids and with the scab and with the itch, of which thou canst not be healed.

Domnul te va lovi cu bubele Egiptului şi cu răni, cu umflături şi cu scabie, de care nu te vei putea vindeca.

28 T he LORD shall smite thee with madness and blindness and astonishment of heart.

El te va lovi cu nebunie, cu orbire şi cu rătăcire a minţii.

29 A nd thou shalt grope at noonday as the blind grope in the darkness, and thou shalt not be prospered in thy ways; and thou shalt only be oppressed and spoiled all the days, and there shall be no one to save thee.

Ziua în amiaza mare vei bâjbâi cum umblă orbul prin întuneric. Nu vei prospera în nimic din ceea ce vei face; cu adevărat, în fiecare zi vei fi asuprit şi jefuit şi nu va fi nimeni care să îţi vină în ajutor.

30 T hou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

Te vei logodi cu o femeie, dar altul o va lua şi se va culca cu ea. Vei construi case şi nu vei locui în ele, vei planta vii şi nu te vei bucura de rodul lor.

31 T hine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have no one to rescue them.

Boii tăi vor fi înjunghiaţi înaintea ochilor tăi şi nu vei mânca din ei. Ţi se vor lua asinii dinaintea ta şi nu ţi se vor mai da înapoi. Turmele tale vor fi date duşmanilor tăi şi nimeni nu îţi va veni în ajutor.

32 T hy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no strength in thine hand.

Fiii şi fiicele tale vor fi date unui alt popor, iar ochii tăi vor îmbătrâni uitându-se în fiecare zi după ei şi mâinile tale vor fi fără putere.

33 T he fruit of thy land and all thy labours shall a people which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt only be oppressed and crushed all the days.

Un popor pe care nu-l cunoşti va mânca rodul câmpurilor tale şi tot venitul muncii tale şi în toate zilele vei fi asuprit şi zdrobit.

34 S o that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Priveliştea aceasta, pe care o vei vedea zilnic, te va face să înnebuneşti.

35 T he LORD shall smite thee in the knees and in the legs with an evil boil that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

Domnul te va lovi cu bube rele la genunchi şi la picioare, de care nu vei fi în stare să te vindeci, te va lovi din talpa piciorului până în creştetul capului.

36 T he LORD shall bring thee and thy king which thou shalt set over thee unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, and there shalt thou serve other gods, even wood and stone.

Domnul te va duce, pe tine şi pe regele pe care îl vei pune să domnească peste tine, la un neam pe care nu l-ai cunoscut nici tu, nici părinţii tăi. Acolo vei sluji altor dumnezei, idolilor din lemn şi din piatră.

37 A nd thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the LORD shall carry thee away.

Vei fi de râs, de pomină şi de batjocură printre toate popoarele, pe unde te va duce Domnul.

38 T hou shalt carry much seed out into the field and shalt gather but little in, for the locust shall consume it.

Vei semăna multă sămânţă pe câmpurile tale, dar vei recolta puţin, pentru că o vor mânca lăcustele.

39 T hou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worms shall eat them.

Vei sădi vii şi le vei lucra, dar nu vei bea şi nu vei strânge struguri din ele, pentru că le vor mânca viermii.

40 T hou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall fall.

Vei avea măslini pe toată întinderea ţării, dar nu te vei unge cu ulei, pentru că măslinele se vor strica.

41 T hou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.

Ţi se vor naşte fii şi fiice, dar nu vor rămâne ai tăi, pentru că vor merge în captivitate.

42 A ll thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.

Omizile îţi vor mânca toţi pomii şi rodul pământului.

43 T he stranger that is in the midst of thee shall get up above thee very high, and thou shalt come down very low.

Străinul care locuieşte în mijlocul tău se va ridica tot mai sus, deasupra ta, iar tu te vei coborî tot mai jos.

44 H e shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him; he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

El te va putea împrumuta, dar tu nu vei fi în stare să-l împrumuţi. El va fi cap, iar tu vei fi coadă.

45 ¶ Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee and shall pursue thee and overtake thee until thou art destroyed because thou shalt not have attended unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee;

Toate aceste blesteme vor veni peste tine, te vor urmări şi te vor ajunge din urmă, până te vor nimici, fiindcă nu ai ascultat de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, păzind poruncile şi hotărârile pe care ţi le-a dat.

46 a nd they shall be in thee for a sign and for a wonder, and in thy seed for ever.

Ele vor fi pentru totdeauna un semn şi o minune pentru tine şi urmaşii tăi.

47 B ecause thou didst not serve the LORD thy God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

Fiindcă nu ai slujit Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, în vreme de prosperitate, cu bucurie şi cu inimă bună,

48 t herefore, thou shalt serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in lack of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck until he has destroyed thee.

vei sluji, flămând, însetat şi dezbrăcat, duşmanilor tăi, pe care Domnul îi va trimite împotriva ta. El îţi va aşeza pe gât un jug de fier până când te va nimici.

49 T he LORD shall bring a nation against thee from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand,

Domnul va aduce de departe un neam împotriva ta, de la marginile pământului, care se va năpusti asupra ta asemenea vulturului, un neam a cărui limbă nu o vei înţelege,

50 a nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old nor show favour to the young;

un neam cu o înfăţişare necruţătoare, care nu va avea respect faţă de bătrân sau milă pentru tânăr.

51 a nd he shall eat the fruit of thy beast and the fruit of thy land until thou art destroyed, which also shall not leave thee either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy cows or flocks of thy sheep until he has destroyed thee.

Ei îţi vor mânca rodul cirezilor tale şi rodul pământului tău, până când te vor face să pieri. Nu îţi vor lăsa nici grâne, nici vin, nici ulei, nici viţei în cirezile tale sau miei în turmele tale, până când te vor face să pieri.

52 A nd he shall besiege thee in all thy gates until thy high and fenced walls come down, in which thou dost trust, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God has given thee.

Ei îţi vor asedia toate cetăţile de pe toată întinderea ţării, ca să îţi dărâme zidurile cele înalte şi fortificate, în care te-ai încrezut. Ei îţi vor asedia toate cetăţile din întreaga ţară, pe care ţi-a dat-o Domnul, Dumnezeul tău.

53 A nd thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God has given thee, in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee.

Din cauza asediului şi a strâmtorării în care te va aduce duşmanul tău, te vei hrăni cu rodul pântecelui tău, carnea fiilor şi a fiicelor tale, pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, ţi i-a dat.

54 T he man that is tender among you and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave,

Bărbatul cel mai delicat şi mai sensibil dintre ai tăi va privi cu răutate la fratele lui, la femeia care se odihneşte la pieptul lui şi la copiii pe care i-a lăsat să trăiască

55 s o that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he shall have nothing left him in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

şi nu le va da nimic din carnea copiilor cu care se hrăneşte, pentru că nu-i va mai rămâne nimic din cauza asediului şi a strâmtorării în care te va aduce duşmanul tău, în toate cetăţile tale.

56 T he tender and delicate woman among you who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter

Femeia cea mai delicată şi mai sensibilă – care, de delicată şi de sensibilă ce era, nu ştia cum să calce mai fin cu piciorul pe pământ – va privi cu răutate pe bărbatul de la pieptul ei, pe fiii şi pe fiicele ei

57 a nd toward her young one that comes out from between her feet and toward her children which she shall bear, for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness with which thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates,

şi nu le va da nimic din resturile ieşite, după naştere, dintre picioarele ei sau din copiii pe care îi va naşte, pentru că îi va mânca pe toţi în ascuns din cauza asediului şi a strâmtorării în care te va aduce duşmanul tău, în cetăţile tale.

58 i f thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book that thou may fear this glorious and fearful name; I AM thy God.

Dacă nu vei păzi şi împlini toate cuvintele acestei Legi, scrise în cartea aceasta, temându-te de acest Nume slăvit şi înfricoşător – adică de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău –

59 T hen the LORD will augment thy plagues wonderfully, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues and of long continuance, and evil sicknesses and of long continuance.

atunci Domnul te va lovi, în chip nemaiauzit, pe tine şi pe urmaşii tăi, cu plăgi adânci şi îndelungate şi cu boli grave şi prelungite.

60 M oreover, he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of, and they shall cleave unto thee.

Va aduce peste tine toate bolile Egiptului, de care ţi-a fost frică şi se vor lipi de tine.

61 A lso every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon thee until thou art destroyed.

Mai mult, Domnul va aduce peste tine, până te va distruge, toate bolile şi rănile care nu sunt scrise în această Carte a Legii.

62 A nd ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because thou would not hear the voice of the LORD thy God.

După ce ai fost atât de numeros precum stelele cerului, vei rămâne un mic număr de oameni, fiindcă nu ai ascultat de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău.

63 A nd it shall come to pass that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land into which thou dost enter in to inherit it.

Aşa cum Domnul s-a bucurat să îţi facă bine şi să te înmulţească, tot aşa Domnul se va bucura să te ruineze şi să te nimicească. Şi vei fi smuls din ţara în care ai intrat s-o stăpâneşti.

64 A nd the LORD shall scatter thee among all the peoples from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

Domnul te va împrăştia printre toate popoarele de la o margine până la cealaltă a pământului. Acolo vei sluji altor dumnezei, idolilor din lemn şi din piatră, pe care nu i-ai cunoscut nici tu, nici părinţii tăi.

65 N either shalt thou find rest among these Gentiles, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest; but there the LORD shall give thee a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of soul;

Printre aceste neamuri nu vei avea pace şi nu vei avea un loc de odihnă pentru talpa picioarelor tale. Acolo Domnul îţi va da o inimă care tremură, nişte ochi lâncezi şi un suflet amorţit.

66 a nd thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night and shalt have no assurance of thy life.

Vei trăi în continuă nesiguranţă, te vei teme noaptea şi ziua şi niciodată nu vei fi sigur de viaţa ta.

67 I n the morning thou shalt say, I wish it were evening, and in the evening thou shalt say, I wish it were morning! For the fear of thine heart with which thou shalt fear and for that which thine eyes shall see.

Dimineaţa vei spune: «O, dacă ar veni seara!», iar seara vei spune: «O, dacă ar veni dimineaţa!», din cauza groazei care îţi va umple inima şi a lucrurilor pe care ochii tăi le vor vedea.

68 A nd the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again in ships by the way of which I spoke unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again; and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for menslaves and womenslaves, and there shall be no one to buy you.

Domnul te va întoarce cu corăbiile în Egipt pe drumul despre care îţi spusesem: «Să nu-l mai vezi din nou!» Acolo vă veţi vinde duşmanilor voştri ca sclavi şi sclave, dar nu va fi nimeni să vă cumpere.“
