1 ¶ And the lot of the sons of Joseph fell from the Jordan of Jericho unto the water of Jericho towards the east to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho to Mount Bethel,

Teritoriul urmaşilor lui Iosif pornea de la Iordan, din dreptul Ierihonului, către apele Ierihonului, în partea de răsărit şi urca prin pustie, de la Ierihon către regiunea muntoasă a Betelului.

2 a nd from Bethel going to Luz and passing the border of Archi in Ataroth,

Apoi pornea de la Betel (adică Luz), traversa către teritoriul archit prin Atarot

3 a nd turns to descend to the westward sea to the border of Japhleti until the border of Bethhoron the lower, and to Gezer, and comes out at the sea.

şi cobora înspre apus, către teritoriul iafletiţilor, până la Bet-Horonul de Jos şi până la Ghezer, atingând în final ţărmul mării.

4 S o the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.

Acolo şi-au primit moştenirea urmaşii lui Iosif – Manase şi Efraim.

5 ¶ And this was the border of the sons of Ephraim according to their families; this was the border of their inheritance on the east side from Atarothaddar unto Bethhoron the upper;

Iată care era teritoriul urmaşilor lui Efraim, potrivit clanurilor lor: hotarul moştenirii lor dinspre răsărit pornea de la Atarot-Adar, urca până la Bet-Horon

6 a nd this border comes out to the sea and to Michmethah on the north side; and this border goes around eastward unto Taanathshiloh and from here passes on the east to Janohah;

şi atingea ţărmul mării. Din Micmetat, în nord, se întorcea către răsărit, înspre Taanat-Şilo, traversând Ianoah în partea de răsărit.

7 a nd from Janohah it goes down to Ataroth and to Naarath, and touches in Jericho and comes out at the Jordan.

Din Ianoah cobora la Atarot şi Naarata, atingând Ierihonul şi ajungând la Iordan.

8 A nd from Tappuah this border turns towards the westward sea at the river Kanah and comes out at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim by their families.

Din Tapuah mergea către apus înspre uedul Kana şi atingea ţărmul mării. Aceasta era moştenirea seminţiei efraimiţilor, potrivit clanurilor lor.

9 T here were also cities separated for the sons of Ephraim among the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

Efraimiţii mai aveau şi un număr de cetăţi în teritoriul urmaşilor lui Manase, fiecare cetate având satele dimprejurul ei.

10 A nd they did not drive out the Canaanite that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanite remained in the midst of Ephraim unto this day and served under tribute.

Ei nu i-au izgonit însă pe canaaniţii care locuiau la Ghezer şi, prin urmare, canaaniţii au locuit printre efraimiţi până în ziua aceasta, fiind puşi la muncă forţată.
