1 ¶ Take care to do all the commandments which I command thee this day that ye may live and be multiplied and enter in and inherit the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.

Să păziţi şi să împliniţi toate poruncile pe care vi le dau astăzi, ca să trăiţi, să vă înmulţiţi şi să intraţi în stăpânirea ţării pe care Domnul a promis-o strămoşilor voştri.

2 A nd thou shalt remember all the way by which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness to afflict thee and to prove thee to know what was in thine heart, whether thou would keep his commandments, or not.

Adu-ţi aminte de fiecare drum pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, te-a condus prin pustie în timpul acestor patruzeci de ani, ca să te smerească, să te încerce şi să cunoască ce este în inima ta şi să vadă dacă vei păzi poruncile Lui sau nu.

3 A nd he afflicted thee and caused thee to hunger and sustained thee with manna, food of which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD shall man live.

Astfel El te-a smerit, te-a lăsat înfometat şi te-a hrănit cu mana de care nu ştiai nimic nici tu, nici părinţii tăi, ca să te înveţe că omul nu trăieşte numai cu pâine, ci cu orice cuvânt care iese din gura Domnului.

4 T hy raiment never waxed old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

Hainele nu ţi s-au învechit pe tine, iar picioarele nu ţi s-au umflat în timpul acestor patruzeci de ani.

5 A nd know in thine heart, that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD thy God chastens thee.

Recunoaşte acum că Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, te disciplinează asemenea unui om care îşi disciplinează fiul.

6 K eep, therefore, the commandments of the LORD thy God by walking in his ways and fearing him.

Să păzeşti poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, umblând pe căile Lui şi temându-te de El.

7 F or the LORD thy God brings thee into a good land, a land of brooks, of waters, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills,

Căci El are să te conducă într-o ţară bună, o ţară cu râuri, izvoare şi pâraie ce izvorăsc din văi şi din munţi,

8 a land of wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olives, of oil, and honey;

o ţară cu grâu şi cu orz, cu vii, cu smochini şi cu rodii, cu ulei şi cu miere,

9 a land in which thou shalt eat bread without scarceness; thou shalt not lack any thing in it, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose mountains thou may dig brass.

o ţară unde nu vei duce lipsă de pâine şi nu vei avea nevoie de nimic, o ţară unde stâncile sunt de fier şi din munţii căreia vei putea extrage cuprul.

10 ¶ Thou shalt eat and be full and bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he has given thee.

Când vei mânca şi te vei sătura, să-L binecuvântezi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, pentru ţara cea bună pe care ţi-a dat-o.

11 K eep thyself, that thou forget not the LORD thy God, to not fulfill his commandments and his rights and his statutes, which I command thee this day,

Ai grijă ca nu cumva să-L uiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, până acolo, încât să nu mai păzeşti poruncile, legile şi hotărârile pe care eu ţi le dau astăzi.

12 l est peradventure when thou hast eaten and art full and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein,

Când vei mânca şi te vei sătura, când vei construi şi vei locui în case frumoase

13 a nd when thy herds and thy flocks multiply and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied and all that thou hast is multiplied,

şi când vei vedea că cirezile şi turmele ţi s-au înmulţit, argintul şi aurul ţi-au sporit şi tot ce ai s-a mărit,

14 t hen thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery,

atunci să nu te mândreşti în inima ta şi să nu uiţi de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, Care te-a scos din ţara Egiptului, din casa sclaviei.

15 w ho led thee through that great and terrible wilderness of burning serpents and scorpions and drought, where there was no water, who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint,

El te-a condus prin pustia cea mare şi înfricoşătoare cu ţinuturi secetoase, cu şerpi veninoşi şi scorpioni. El a făcut să izvorască apă dintr-o stâncă de cremene.

16 w ho fed thee in the wilderness with manna, a food which thy fathers knew not, afflicting thee and proving thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

El ţi-a dat să mănânci în pustie mana pe care nu au cunoscut-o părinţii tăi, ca să te smerească şi să te încerce, dar cu scopul de a-ţi face bine după aceea.

17 a nd thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.

Să nu zici în inima ta: «Forţa şi puterea mâinilor mele mi-au câştigat aceste bogăţii!»

18 B ut thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that gives thee the power to get wealth that he may confirm his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Ci să-ţi aduci aminte de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, fiindcă El este Cel Ce îţi dă putere să-ţi însuşeşti aceste bogăţii, ca să întărească astfel legământul încheiat cu strămoşii tăi prin jurământ, aşa cum face astăzi.

19 A nd it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God and walk after other gods and serve them and worship them, I protest against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

Dar dacă vei uita de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, şi te vei duce după alţi dumnezei, dacă le vei sluji şi te vei închina înaintea lor, te asigur astăzi că vei fi nimicit.

20 A s the Gentiles which the LORD shall destroy before your face, so shall ye perish because ye would not attend to the voice of the LORD your God.

Veţi pieri la fel ca neamurile pe care Domnul le-a nimicit dinaintea voastră, dacă nu veţi asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru.
