1 ¶ O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show thyself.

O, Dumnezeu al răzbunărilor! O, Doamne! O, Dumnezeu al răzbunărilor, străluceşte Tu!

2 L ift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

Ridică-Te, Judecător al pământului; răsplăteşte celor mândri după mândria lor!

3 L ORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

Până când vor triumfa cei răi, Doamne, până când?

4 H ow long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

Ei bolborosesc, vorbesc cu trufie, toţi cei ce săvârşesc nelegiuirea se laudă.

5 T hey break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage.

Asupresc pe poporul Tău, Doamne, apasă asupra moştenirii Tale.

6 T hey slay the widow and the stranger and murder the fatherless.

Îi omoară pe văduvă şi pe străin; îl ucid pe orfan.

7 Y et they say, JAH shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Ei zic: „Nu vede Domnul! Dumnezeul lui Iacov nu ia aminte!“

8 U nderstand, ye carnal ones among the people, and, ye fools, when will ye be wise?

Luaţi aminte, voi, oameni fără minte din popor! Neghiobilor, când vă veţi deştepta?

9 H e that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

Să nu audă Cel Ce a sădit urechea? Să nu vadă Cel Ce a plăsmuit ochiul?

10 H e that chastens the Gentiles, shall he not correct? he that teaches man knowledge, shall not he know?

Să nu mustre oare Cel Ce disciplinează neamurile, Cel Ce învaţă pe om cunoaşterea?

11 T he LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Domnul cunoaşte gândurile omului; ştie că sunt zadarnice.

12 ¶ Blessed is the man whom thou dost chasten, O JAH, and teach him out of thy law,

Ferice de bărbatul pe care-l disciplinezi Tu, Doamne, şi pe care-l înveţi din Legea Ta,

13 t o cause him to rest in the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

ca să-l linişteşti în zilele cele rele, până se va săpa groapa celui rău.

14 F or the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

Domnul nu-Şi părăseşte poporul, nici nu-Şi uită moştenirea!

15 B ut the judgment shall be returned unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

Căci din nou se va face judecată cu dreptate şi toţi cei cu inima cinstită o vor urma.

16 W ho will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Cine se va ridica pentru mine împotriva celor răi? Cine va lua poziţie pentru mine împotriva celor ce săvârşesc nelegiuirea?

17 U nless the LORD had been my help, my soul would have quickly dwelt with the dead.

Dacă Domnul nu ar fi ajutorul meu, foarte curând sufletul meu ar fi culcat în tăcerea morţii.

18 W hen I said, My foot slips, thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

Când zic: „Mi se clatină piciorul!“, îndurarea Ta, Doamne, mă sprijină!

19 I n the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.

În mulţimea frământărilor mele lăuntrice, alinările Tale îmi încântă sufletul.

20 S hall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, who creates toil under the guise of law?

Poate oare un tron corupt să Ţi se alăture, unul care plăsmuieşte necazul prin decret?

21 T hey gather themselves together as an army against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.

Ei uneltesc împotriva sufletului celui drept şi osândesc sânge nevinovat.

22 B ut the LORD is my refuge, and my God is the rock of my trust.

Domnul este întăritura mea! Dumnezeul meu este stânca mea de adăpost!

23 A nd he shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

El le va răsplăti după nelegiuirea lor şi-i va nimici pentru răutatea lor; Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, îi va nimici.
