1 ¶ O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.

Doamne, Stăpânul nostru, cât de maiestuos este Numele Tău pe întreg pământul! Fie înălţată slava Ta mai presus de ceruri!

2 O ut of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.

Din gura copiilor şi a celor ce sunt alăptaţi ai întemeiat o fortăreaţă împotriva duşmanilor Tăi, ca să fie astfel reduşi la tăcere vrăjmaşul şi răzbunătorul.

3 ¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

Când privesc cerurile, lucrarea mâinilor Tale, luna şi stelele pe care le-ai zidit, îmi zic:

4 w hat is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?

Ce este omul ca să-Ţi aminteşti de el şi fiul omului ca să-Ţi pese de el?

5 F or thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.

Tu l-ai făcut cu puţin mai prejos decât Dumnezeu şi l-ai încoronat cu slavă şi cu cinste.

6 T hou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

L-ai pus să domnească peste lucrările mâinilor Tale; i-ai pus totul sub picioare:

7 a ll sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

oi şi boi deopotrivă, chiar şi fiarele câmpului;

8 T he birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

păsările cerului şi peştii mării, tot ce străbate căile mărilor.

9 O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth!
