1 ¶ The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a young lion.

Cel rău fuge, deşi nu este urmărit, dar cei drepţi îndrăznesc ca un leu.

2 ¶ By the rebellion of the land, many are its princes, but by the man of understanding and wisdom the land shall remain stable.

Când o ţară este răzvrătită, are mulţi conducători, dar cu un om priceput şi cunoscător stabilitatea este menţinută.

3 ¶ A poor man that oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

Un om sărac care-i asupreşte pe cei sărmani este ca o ploaie torenţială care aduce lipsă de hrană.

4 ¶ Those that forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.

Cei ce părăsesc Legea îi laudă pe cei răi, dar cei ce păzesc Legea îi confruntă.

5 ¶ Evil men do not understand judgment, but those that seek the LORD understand all things.

Oamenii răi nu înţeleg justiţia, dar cei ce caută pe Domnul o înţeleg în totalitate.

6 ¶ Better is the poor that walks in his perfection than he that is perverse in his ways, though he is rich.

Mai bine un sărac care umblă în integritatea lui, decât un bogat ale cărui căi sunt corupte.

7 ¶ Whosoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he that is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Cel ce păzeşte Legea este un fiu priceput, dar cel ce se însoţeşte cu cei lacomi îşi face de ruşine tatăl.

8 ¶ He that by usury and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

Cine îşi înmulţeşte averea prin dobândă excesivă strânge pentru cel milos faţă de săraci.

9 ¶ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Dacă cineva refuză să mai asculte Legea, chiar şi rugăciunea lui este privită ca fiind o urâciune.

10 ¶ Whosoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit, but the perfect shall inherit every good thing.

Cine conduce pe cel drept pe o cale rea va cădea el însuşi în propria-i groapă, dar cei integri vor primi o bună moştenire.

11 ¶ The rich man is wise in his own conceit, but the poor that has understanding is wiser than he.

Omul bogat se poate considera înţelept, dar un sărac chibzuit îi cunoaşte valoarea.

12 ¶ When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, the sane man hides himself.

Când triumfă cei drepţi este un mare entuziasm, dar când se ridică cei răi oamenii se ascund.

13 ¶ He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

Cine îşi ascunde păcatele nu va propăşi, dar oricine le mărturiseşte şi renunţă la ele va găsi milă.

14 ¶ Blessed is the man that fears God always, but he that hardens his heart shall fall into evil.

Binecuvântat este omul care este întotdeauna precaut, dar cel ce-şi împietreşte inima va cădea în necaz.

15 ¶ As a roaring lion and a hungry bear, so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

Ca un leu răgind şi ca un urs atacând, aşa este cel rău care domneşte peste un popor sărac.

16 ¶ The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor, but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

Prinţul fără pricepere este un tiran, dar cel ce urăşte venitul din jaf va avea multe zile.

17 ¶ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee all the way to the grave, and no one shall sustain him.

Un om chinuit de vinovăţia crimei va fi fugar până la moarte. Nimeni să nu-l susţină!

18 ¶ Whosoever walks in integrity shall be saved, but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall into one of them.

Cel ce umblă în integritate va fi salvat, dar omul ale cărui căi sunt corupte va cădea pe neaşteptate.

19 ¶ He that tills his land shall be filled with bread, but he that follows after vain persons shall be filled with poverty.

Cine îşi lucrează pământul se va sătura de pâine, dar cel ce umblă după deşertăciuni se va sătura de sărăcie.

20 ¶ The man of truth shall abound with blessings, but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be absolved.

Un om credincios va fi binecuvântat pe deplin, dar cel nerăbdător să se îmbogăţească nu va rămâne nepedepsit.

21 ¶ To have respect of persons in judgment is not good; even for a piece of bread, man will transgress.

Nu este bine să fii părtinitor – chiar şi pentru o bucată de pâine omul poate să păcătuiască.

22 ¶ He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye and does not consider that poverty shall come upon him.

Un om zgârcit este nerăbdător să se îmbogăţească, dar nu ştie că-l aşteaptă sărăcia.

23 ¶ He that rebukes a man, afterwards shall find more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.

Cel ce mustră un om câştigă mai multă apreciere în cele din urmă, decât cel care are o limbă linguşitoare.

24 ¶ Whosoever robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of the destroyer.

Cine fură pe tatăl său sau pe mama sa şi zice că nu este un păcat, este confrate cu cel ce pustieşte.

25 ¶ He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

Un om lacom stârneşte certuri, dar cel ce se încrede în Domnul va fi săturat din belşug.

26 ¶ He that trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whosoever walks in wisdom, he shall be saved.

Cel ce se încrede în inima lui este un prost, dar cine umblă în înţelepciune va fi salvat.

27 ¶ He that gives unto the poor shall never lack, but he that hides his eyes from the poor shall have many a curse.

Cine dă săracului nu va duce lipsă, dar cine închide ochii va avea parte de multe blesteme.

28 ¶ When the wicked rise, sane men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous multiply.

Când se ridică cei răi, oamenii se ascund, dar când pier ei, cei drepţi se înmulţesc.
