1 ¶ The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a young lion.

El impío huye sin que nadie lo persiga, mas los justos están confiados como un león.

2 ¶ By the rebellion of the land, many are its princes, but by the man of understanding and wisdom the land shall remain stable.

Por la transgresión de la tierra, muchos son sus príncipes; pero por el hombre entendido y de conocimiento permanece estable.

3 ¶ A poor man that oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

El pobre que oprime a los humildes es como lluvia torrencial que no deja pan.

4 ¶ Those that forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.

Los que abandonan la ley alaban a los impíos, pero los que guardan la ley luchan contra ellos.

5 ¶ Evil men do not understand judgment, but those that seek the LORD understand all things.

Los hombres malvados no entienden de justicia, mas los que buscan al Señor lo entienden todo.

6 ¶ Better is the poor that walks in his perfection than he that is perverse in his ways, though he is rich.

Mejor es el pobre que anda en su integridad, que el que es torcido, aunque sea rico.

7 ¶ Whosoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he that is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

El que guarda la ley es hijo entendido, pero el que es compañero de glotones avergüenza a su padre.

8 ¶ He that by usury and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

El que aumenta su riqueza por interés y usura, la recoge para el que se apiada de los pobres.

9 ¶ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Al que aparta su oído para no oír la ley, su oración también es abominación.

10 ¶ Whosoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit, but the perfect shall inherit every good thing.

El que extravía a los rectos por el mal camino, en su propia fosa caerá; pero los íntegros heredarán el bien.

11 ¶ The rich man is wise in his own conceit, but the poor that has understanding is wiser than he.

El rico es sabio ante sus propios ojos, mas el pobre que es entendido, lo sondea.

12 ¶ When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, the sane man hides himself.

Cuando los justos triunfan, grande es la gloria, pero cuando los impíos se levantan, los hombres se esconden.

13 ¶ He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

El que encubre sus pecados no prosperará, mas el que los confiesa y los abandona hallará misericordia.

14 ¶ Blessed is the man that fears God always, but he that hardens his heart shall fall into evil.

Cuán bienaventurado es el hombre que siempre teme, pero el que endurece su corazón caerá en el infortunio.

15 ¶ As a roaring lion and a hungry bear, so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

Cual león rugiente y oso agresivo es el gobernante perverso sobre el pueblo pobre.

16 ¶ The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor, but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

Al príncipe que es gran opresor le falta entendimiento, pero el que odia las ganancias injustas prolongará sus días.

17 ¶ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee all the way to the grave, and no one shall sustain him.

El hombre cargado con culpa de sangre humana, fugitivo será hasta la muerte; que nadie lo apoye.

18 ¶ Whosoever walks in integrity shall be saved, but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall into one of them.

El que anda en integridad será salvo, mas el que es de camino torcido caerá de repente.

19 ¶ He that tills his land shall be filled with bread, but he that follows after vain persons shall be filled with poverty.

El que labra su tierra se saciará de pan, pero el que sigue propósitos vanos se llenará de pobreza.

20 ¶ The man of truth shall abound with blessings, but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be absolved.

El hombre fiel abundará en bendiciones, pero el que se apresura a enriquecerse no quedará sin castigo.

21 ¶ To have respect of persons in judgment is not good; even for a piece of bread, man will transgress.

Hacer acepción de personas no es bueno, pues por un bocado de pan el hombre pecará.

22 ¶ He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye and does not consider that poverty shall come upon him.

El hombre avaro corre tras la riqueza, y no sabe que la miseria vendrá sobre él.

23 ¶ He that rebukes a man, afterwards shall find more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.

El que reprende al hombre hallará después más favor que el que lo lisonjea con la lengua.

24 ¶ Whosoever robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of the destroyer.

El que roba a su padre o a su madre y dice: “No es transgresión”, es compañero del hombre destructor.

25 ¶ He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

El hombre arrogante suscita rencillas, mas el que confía en el Señor prosperará.

26 ¶ He that trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whosoever walks in wisdom, he shall be saved.

El que confía en su propio corazón es un necio, pero el que anda con sabiduría será librado.

27 ¶ He that gives unto the poor shall never lack, but he that hides his eyes from the poor shall have many a curse.

El que da al pobre no pasará necesidad, pero el que cierra sus ojos tendrá muchas maldiciones.

28 ¶ When the wicked rise, sane men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous multiply.

Cuando los impíos se levantan, los hombres se esconden; mas cuando perecen, los justos se multiplican.
