1 ¶ And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

2 A nd Saul’s son had two men that were captains of companies; the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon, a Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin;

Y el hijo de Saúl tenía dos hombres que eran jefes de bandas: el nombre de uno era Baana, y el del otro Recab, hijos de Rimón beerotita, de los hijos de Benjamín (porque Beerot es también considerado parte de Benjamín,

3 a nd the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and were sojourners there until this day).

pues los beerotitas habían huido a Gitaim y han sido forasteros allí hasta el día de hoy).

4 A nd Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled, and it came to pass as she made haste to flee that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

Y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies. Este tenía cinco años cuando de Jezreel llegaron las noticias de la muerte de Saúl y Jonatán, y su nodriza lo tomó y huyó, pero sucedió que en su prisa por huir, él se cayó y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mefiboset.

5 A nd the sons of Rimmon, the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

Y los hijos de Rimón beerotita, Recab y Baana, fueron y entraron en la casa de Is-boset en el calor del día, mientras él dormía la siesta.

6 A nd they came there into the midst of the house as though they were wheat merchants, and they smote him under the fifth rib; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

Y llegaron hasta la mitad de la casa como si fueran a buscar trigo, y lo hirieron en el vientre; y Recab y su hermano Baana escaparon.

7 F or when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him and beheaded him and took his head and walked all night through the plain.

Habían entrado en la casa mientras Is-boset estaba acostado en su lecho, en su alcoba; lo hirieron y lo mataron, y le cortaron la cabeza. Y tomando su cabeza, anduvieron toda la noche camino del Arabá.

8 A nd they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thy enemy, who sought thy life, and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul and of his seed.

Trajeron la cabeza de Is-boset a David en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: He aquí la cabeza de Is-boset, hijo de tu enemigo Saúl, el que buscaba tu vida; de esta manera el Señor ha concedido hoy a mi señor el rey venganza sobre Saúl y sus descendientes.

9 ¶ And David answered Rechab and Baanah, his brother, the sons of Rimmon, the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD lives, who has ransomed my soul out of all adversity,

Respondiendo David a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón beerotita, les dijo: Vive el Señor que ha redimido mi vida de toda angustia,

10 w hen one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him and slew him in Ziklag as a reward for his tidings.

que cuando uno me avisó, diciendo: “He aquí, Saúl ha muerto”, pensando que me traía buenas noticias, yo lo prendí y lo maté en Siclag, lo cual fue el pago que le di por sus noticias.

11 H ow much more unto wicked men who have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? Shall I not, therefore, now require his blood of your hand and remove you from the earth?

¿Cuánto más, cuando hombres malvados han matado a un hombre justo en su propia casa y sobre su cama, no demandaré ahora su sangre de vuestras manos, borrándoos de la tierra?

12 T hen David commanded his young men, and they slew them and cut off their hands and their feet and hung them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

Y David dio una orden a los jóvenes, y ellos los mataron y les cortaron las manos y los pies y los colgaron junto al estanque en Hebrón. Pero tomaron la cabeza de Is-boset y la sepultaron en el sepulcro de Abner, en Hebrón.
