1 ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

Pero se levantaron falsos profetas entre el pueblo, así como habrá también falsos maestros entre vosotros, los cuales encubiertamente introducirán herejías destructoras, negando incluso al Señor que los compró, trayendo sobre sí una destrucción repentina.

2 A nd many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be blasphemed;

Muchos seguirán su sensualidad, y por causa de ellos, el camino de la verdad será blasfemado;

3 ¶ and in covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words, upon whom the condemnation from a long time ago does not delay, and their perdition does not sleep.

y en su avaricia os explotarán con palabras falsas. El juicio de ellos, desde hace mucho tiempo no está ocioso, ni su perdición dormida.

4 F or if God did not forgive the angels that sinned, but cast them down into the deepest abyss and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Porque si Dios no perdonó a los ángeles cuando pecaron, sino que los arrojó al infierno y los entregó a fosos de tinieblas, reservados para juicio;

5 a nd if he did not forgive the old world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven other persons, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

si no perdonó al mundo antiguo, sino que guardó a Noé, un predicador de justicia, con otros siete, cuando trajo el diluvio sobre el mundo de los impíos;

6 a nd if he condemned by destruction the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha, turning them into ashes, making them an example unto those that after should live without fear and reverence of God;

si condenó a la destrucción las ciudades de Sodoma y Gomorra, reduciéndo las a cenizas, poniéndo las de ejemplo para los que habrían de vivir impíamente después;

7 ¶ and delivered just Lot, who was persecuted by those abominable people because of their nefarious conversation;

si rescató al justo Lot, abrumado por la conducta sensual de hombres libertinos

8 ( for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, afflicted his righteous soul from day to day with the deeds of those unjust people);

(porque ese justo, por lo que veía y oía mientras vivía entre ellos, diariamente sentía su alma justa atormentada por sus hechos inicuos),

9 t he Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished;

el Señor, entonces, sabe rescatar de tentación a los piadosos, y reservar a los injustos bajo castigo para el día del juicio,

10 ¶ and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers;

especialmente a los que andan tras la carne en sus deseos corrompidos y desprecian la autoridad. Atrevidos y obstinados, no tiemblan cuando blasfeman de las majestades angélicas,

11 w hereas even the angels, who are greater in power and might, bring no curse of judgment against them before the Lord.

cuando los ángeles, que son mayores en fuerza y en potencia, no pronuncian juicio injurioso contra ellos delante del Señor.

12 B ut these, speaking evil of the things that they do not understand (as natural animals without reason, who are made to be taken and destroyed), shall utterly perish in their own corruption,

Pero éstos, como animales irracionales, nacidos como criaturas de instinto para ser capturados y destruidos, blasfemando de lo que ignoran, serán también destruidos con la destrucción de esas criaturas,

13 r eceiving the reward of their unrighteousness, as those that count it pleasure to live luxuriously every day. These are spots and blemishes, who eat together with you, while at the same time they revel in their deceit,

sufriendo el mal como pago de su iniquidad. Cuentan por deleite andar en placeres disolutos durante el día; son manchas e inmundicias, deleitándose en sus engaños mientras banquetean con vosotros.

14 h aving their eyes full of adultery, and not knowing how to cease from sin, baiting unstable souls, having their heart exercised in covetous practices; cursed sons,

Tienen los ojos llenos de adulterio y nunca cesan de pecar; seducen a las almas inestables; tienen un corazón ejercitado en la avaricia; son hijos de maldición.

15 w ho forsaking the right way have erred, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

Abandonando el camino recto, se han extraviado, siguiendo el camino de Balaam, el hijo de Beor, quien amó el pago de la iniquidad,

16 a nd was rebuked for his iniquity; a dumb animal accustomed to a yoke (upon which he was seated), speaking with man’s voice, hindered the madness of the prophet.

pero fue reprendido por su transgresión, pues una muda bestia de carga, hablando con voz humana, reprimió la locura del profeta.

17 T hese are wells without water, clouds that are brought by a whirlwind, to whom gross darkness is reserved for ever.

Estos son manantiales sin agua, bruma impulsada por una tormenta, para quienes está reservada la oscuridad de las tinieblas.

18 F or speaking arrogant words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from those who converse in error,

Pues hablando con arrogancia y vanidad, seducen mediante deseos carnales, por sensualidad, a los que hace poco escaparon de los que viven en el error.

19 p romising them liberty, being they themselves the slaves of corruption: for he who is overcome by someone is subject to bondage by the one that overcame him.

Les prometen libertad, mientras que ellos mismos son esclavos de la corrupción, pues uno es esclavo de aquello que le ha vencido.

20 C ertainly, if having separated themselves from the contaminations of the world, by the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangle themselves therein and are overcome, their latter end is made worse for them than the beginnings.

Porque si después de haber escapado de las contaminaciones del mundo por el conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, de nuevo son enredados en ellas y vencidos, su condición postrera viene a ser peor que la primera.

21 F or it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

Pues hubiera sido mejor para ellos no haber conocido el camino de la justicia, que habiéndolo conocido, apartarse del santo mandamiento que les fue dado.

22 B ut it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog returns unto his own vomit, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Les ha sucedido a ellos según el proverbio verdadero: El perro vuelve a su propio vomito, y: La puerca lavada, vuelve a revolcarse en el cieno.
