1 ¶ Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

¡Oíd ahora, ricos! Llorad y aullad por las miserias que vienen sobre vosotros.

2 Y our riches are rotten, and your garments are motheaten.

Vuestras riquezas se han podrido y vuestras ropas están comidas de polilla.

3 Y our gold and silver is corrupted with rust; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall completely eat your flesh, as fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Vuestro oro y vuestra plata se han oxidado, su herrumbre será un testigo contra vosotros y consumirá vuestra carne como fuego. Es en los últimos días que habéis acumulado tesoros.

4 B ehold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped your fields (which you have kept back by fraud) cries out; and the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of the hosts.

Mirad, el jornal de los obreros que han segado vuestros campos y que ha sido retenido por vosotros, clama contra vosotros; y el clamor de los segadores ha llegado a los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.

5 Y e have lived in pleasure on the earth and been wanton; ye have refreshed your hearts, as in the day of slaughter of sacrifices.

Habéis vivido lujosamente sobre la tierra, y habéis llevado una vida de placer desenfrenado; habéis engordado vuestros corazones en el día de la matanza.

6 Y e have condemned and murdered the just, and he does not resist you.

Habéis condenado y dado muerte al justo; él no os hace resistencia. Exhortación a la paciencia

7 B e patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently until it receives the early and latter rain.

Por tanto, hermanos, sed pacientes hasta la venida del Señor. Mirad cómo el labrador espera el fruto precioso de la tierra, siendo paciente en ello hasta que recibe la lluvia temprana y la tardía.

8 B e ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.

Sed también vosotros pacientes; fortaleced vuestros corazones, porque la venida del Señor está cerca.

9 C omplain not one against another, brethren, that ye not be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

Hermanos, no os quejéis unos contra otros, para que no seáis juzgados; mirad, el Juez está a las puertas.

10 T ake, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Hermanos, tomad como ejemplo de paciencia y aflicción a los profetas que hablaron en el nombre del Señor.

11 B ehold, we count blessed those who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very merciful, and full of compassion.

Mirad que tenemos por bienaventurados a los que sufrieron. Habéis oído de la paciencia de Job, y habéis visto el resultado del proceder del Señor, que el Señor es muy compasivo, y misericordioso. Exhortaciones varias

12 ¶ But above all things, my brethren, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or by any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no, no; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Y sobre todo, hermanos míos, no juréis, ni por el cielo, ni por la tierra, ni con ningún otro juramento; antes bien, sea vuestro sí, sí, y vuestro no, no, para que no caigáis bajo juicio.

13 I s anyone among you afflicted? let them pray. Is anyone happy? let them sing.

¿Sufre alguno entre vosotros ? Que haga oración. ¿Está alguno alegre? Que cante alabanzas.

14 I s any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the congregation; and let them pray for him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;

¿Está alguno entre vosotros enfermo? Que llame a los ancianos de la iglesia y que ellos oren por él, ungiéndolo con aceite en el nombre del Señor;

15 a nd the prayer of faith shall cause the one who is sick to be saved, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven them.

y la oración de fe restaurará al enfermo, y el Señor lo levantará, y si ha cometido pecados le serán perdonados.

16 C onfess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be whole. The effectual prayer of the righteous is very powerful.

Por tanto, confesaos vuestros pecados unos a otros, y orad unos por otros para que seáis sanados. La oración eficaz del justo puede lograr mucho.

17 E lijah was a man subject to passions like unto ours, and he asked in prayer that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

Elías era un hombre de pasiones semejantes a las nuestras, y oró fervientemente para que no lloviera, y no llovió sobre la tierra por tres años y seis meses.

18 A nd he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Y otra vez oró, y el cielo dio lluvia y la tierra produjo su fruto.

19 B rethren, if any of you have erred from the truth, and someone should convert him;

Hermanos míos, si alguno de entre vosotros se extravía de la verdad y alguno le hace volver,

20 l et that one know, that whosoever causes the sinner to convert from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.

sepa que el que hace volver a un pecador del error de su camino salvará su alma de muerte, y cubrirá multitud de pecados.
