1 ¶ The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, which is the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;

Palabra que vino a Jeremías acerca de todo el pueblo de Judá, en el año cuarto de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá (éste era el primer año de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia ),

2 t his spoke Jeremiah the prophet unto all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

la cual el profeta Jeremías habló a todo el pueblo de Judá y a todos los habitantes de Jerusalén, diciendo:

3 F rom the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, which are twenty-three years, the word of the LORD has come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and giving notice; but ye have not hearkened.

Desde el año trece de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta hoy, en estos veintitrés años ha venido a mí la palabra del Señor, y os he hablado repetidas veces, pero no habéis escuchado.

4 A nd the LORD has sent unto you all his slaves the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,

Y el Señor os envió repetidas veces a todos sus siervos los profetas (pero no escuchasteis ni inclinasteis vuestro oído para oír ),

5 w hen they said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:

diciendo: “Volveos ahora cada cual de vuestro camino y de la maldad de vuestras obras, y habitaréis en la tierra que el Señor os dio a vosotros y a vuestros padres para siempre;

6 a nd do not go after other gods to serve them and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

no vayáis tras otros dioses para servirles y postraros ante ellos, no me provoquéis a ira con la obra de vuestras manos, y no os haré ningún mal.”

7 Y et ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD, that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

Pero no me habéis escuchado —declara el Señor — de modo que me provocasteis a ira con la obra de vuestras manos para vuestro propio mal.

8 ¶ Therefore thus saith the LORD of the hosts: Because ye have not heard my words,

Por tanto, así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Por cuanto no habéis obedecido mis palabras,

9 b ehold, I will send and take all the families of the north wind, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my slave, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these nations round about and will utterly destroy them and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

he aquí, mandaré a buscar a todas las familias del norte —declara el Señor — y a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, siervo mío, y los traeré contra esta tierra, contra sus habitantes y contra todas estas naciones de alrededor; los destruiré por completo y los haré objeto de horror, de burla y de eterna desolación.

10 A nd I will cause them to lose the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

“Y haré cesar de ellos la voz de gozo y la voz de alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia, el sonido de las piedras de molino y la luz de la lámpara.

11 A nd this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment; and these Gentiles shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

“Toda esta tierra será desolación y horror, y estas naciones servirán al rey de Babilonia setenta años.

12 A nd it shall come to pass when seventy years are accomplished, that I will visit upon the king of Babylon and upon that people their own evil, said the LORD and upon the land of the Chaldeans and will make it perpetual desolations.

“Después que se hayan cumplido los setenta años, castigaré al rey de Babilonia y a esa nación por su iniquidad —declara el Señor — y a la tierra de los caldeos la haré una desolación eterna.

13 A nd I will bring upon that land all my words which I have spoken against it, with all that is written in this book, prophesied by Jeremiah against all the Gentiles.

“Y traeré sobre esa tierra todas las palabras que he hablado contra ella, todo lo que está escrito en este libro que Jeremías ha profetizado contra todas las naciones.

14 F or many Gentiles and great kings shall serve themselves of them also; and I will recompense them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.

“(Pues también a ellos los harán esclavos muchas naciones y grandes reyes, y les pagaré conforme a sus hechos y conforme a la obra de sus manos ).” La ira de Dios contra las naciones

15 ¶ For thus hath the LORD God of Israel said unto me: Take the wine cup of this fury from my hand and cause all the Gentiles, to whom I send thee, to drink of it.

Porque así me ha dicho el Señor, Dios de Israel: Toma de mi mano esta copa del vino del furor, y haz que beban de ella todas las naciones a las cuales yo te envío.

16 A nd they shall drink and be moved and become mad, before the sword that I will send among them.

Y beberán y se tambalearán y enloquecerán a causa de la espada que enviaré entre ellas.

17 T hen took I the cup from the LORD’s hand and made all the Gentiles to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me,

Entonces tomé la copa de la mano del Señor, e hice beber de ella a todas las naciones a las cuales me envió el Señor:

18 u nto Jerusalem and to the cities of Judah and to its kings and to its princes, that I might place them into desolation, into astonishment, and into hissing, and into a curse, as this day,

a Jerusalén y a las ciudades de Judá, a sus reyes y a sus príncipes, para ponerlos por desolación, horror, burla y maldición, como hasta hoy;

19 u nto Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his slaves and to his princes and to all his people,

a Faraón, rey de Egipto, a sus siervos, a sus príncipes y a todo su pueblo;

20 a nd to all the mingled people and to all the kings of the land of Uz and to all the kings of the land of the Philistines and to Ashkelon and to Gaza and to Ekron and to the remnant of Ashdod,

a todos los extranjeros, a todos los reyes de la tierra de Uz, a todos los reyes de la tierra de los filisteos (es decir, Ascalón, Gaza, Ecrón y al remanente de Asdod );

21 t o Edom and to Moab and to the sons of Ammon,

a Edom, a Moab y a los hijos de Amón;

22 a nd to all the kings of Tyre and to all the kings of Zidon and to all the kings of the isles which are of that side of the sea,

a todos los reyes de Tiro, a todos los reyes de Sidón y a los reyes de las costas que están más allá del mar;

23 a nd to Dedan, and to Tema and to Buz and to all that are in the utmost corners,

a Dedán, a Tema, a Buz y a todos los que se rapan las sienes;

24 a nd to all the kings of Arabia and to all the kings of the mingled peoples, the Arabia that dwells in the desert,

a todos los reyes de Arabia y a todos los reyes de los extranjeros que habitan en el desierto;

25 a nd to all the kings of Zimri and to all the kings of Elam and to all the kings of the Medes,

a todos los reyes de Zimri, a todos los reyes de Elam y a todos los reyes de Media;

26 a nd to all the kings of the north wind, those of far and those of near, one with another and to all the kingdoms of the earth, which are upon the face of the earth and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

a todos los reyes del norte, los de cerca y los de lejos, los unos con los otros, y a todos los reinos del mundo que están sobre la faz de la tierra. El rey de Sesac beberá después de ellos.

27 T herefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel said; Drink and be drunken, and vomit and fall, and ye shall not rise in the presence of the sword which I send among you.

Y les dirás: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: ‘Bebed, embriagaos, vomitad, caed y no os levantéis a causa de la espada que yo enviaré entre vosotros.’”

28 A nd it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from thine hand to drink, then thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Ye must certainly drink.

Y sucederá que si rehúsan tomar la copa de tu mano para beber, les dirás: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: ‘Ciertamente vais a beber.

29 F or, Behold, I begin to bring evil upon the city which is called by my name, and should ye only be absolved? Ye shall not be absolved, for I bring the sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, said the LORD of the hosts.

‘Porque he aquí que comienzo a causar mal en esta ciudad que se llama por mi nombre, ¿y quedaréis vosotros sin castigo alguno? No quedaréis sin castigo, porque llamo a la espada contra todos los habitantes de la tierra ’ —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.”

30 ¶ Therefore, thou shalt prophesy against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high and from the habitation of his holiness he shall utter his voice; in fury he shall roar upon his habitation; he shall sing the song of those that tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

Tú, pues, profetizarás contra ellos todas estas palabras, y les dirás: “El Señor rugirá desde lo alto, y dará su voz desde su santa morada; rugirá fuertemente contra su rebaño. Dará gritos como los que pisan las uvas contra todos los habitantes de la tierra.

31 T he noise came even to the ends of the earth; for it is judgment of the LORD with the Gentiles; he is the Judge of all flesh; he will give those that are wicked to the sword, said the LORD.

“Ha llegado el estruendo hasta el fin de la tierra, porque el Señor tiene un pleito contra las naciones; entra en juicio contra toda carne; a los impíos, los entrega a la espada” —declara el Señor.

32 T hus saith the LORD of the hosts, Behold, the evil goes forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: He aquí, el mal va de nación en nación, y una gran tempestad se levanta de los confines de la tierra.

33 A nd the slain of the LORD shall be in that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be as dung upon the ground.

Y los muertos por el Señor en aquel día estarán desde un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro. No los llorarán, ni los recogerán, ni los sepultarán; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.

34 H owl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the dust, ye principals of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like an enticing vessel.

Gemid, pastores, y clamad; revolcaos en ceniza, mayorales del rebaño; porque se han cumplido los días de vuestra matanza y de vuestra dispersión, y caeréis como vaso precioso.

35 A nd the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor for the principals of the flock to escape.

No habrá huida para los pastores, ni escape para los mayorales del rebaño.

36 T he voice of the cry of the shepherds and a howling of the principals of the flock shall be heard! For the LORD has spoiled their pasture.

Se oye el sonido del clamor de los pastores, y el gemido de los mayorales del rebaño, porque el Señor está destruyendo sus pastos,

37 A nd the quiet pastures shall be cut off by the fierce anger of the LORD.

y son silenciados los rebaños apacibles a causa de la ardiente ira del Señor.

38 H e has forsaken his habitation, as the young lion; for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor and because of his fierce anger.

Ha dejado como león su guarida, porque su tierra se ha convertido en horror por el furor de la espada opresora, y a causa de su ardiente ira.
