1 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses in Mount Sinai, saying,

2 S peak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, When ye have come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.

Habla a los hijos de Israel, y diles: “Cuando entréis a la tierra que yo os daré, la tierra guardará reposo para el Señor.

3 S ix years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard and gather in the fruit thereof,

“Seis años sembrarás la tierra, seis años podarás tu viña y recogerás sus frutos,

4 b ut the seventh year the land shall have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath unto the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field nor prune thy vineyard.

pero el séptimo año la tierra tendrá completo descanso, un reposo para el Señor; no sembrarás tu campo ni podarás tu viña.

5 T hat which grows of its own accord in thy land that was harvested, thou shalt not reap; neither fence in the grapes of thy consecrated vine; for it is a year of rest unto the land.

“Lo que nazca espontáneamente después de tu cosecha no lo segarás, y las uvas de los sarmientos de tu viñedo no recogerás; la tierra tendrá un año de reposo.

6 B ut the sabbath of the land shall be food for you, for thee and for thy slave and for thy maid and for thy hired servant and for thy stranger that sojourns with thee

“Y el fruto del reposo de la tierra os servirá de alimento: a ti, a tus siervos, a tus siervas, a tu jornalero y al extranjero, a los que residen contigo.

7 a nd for thy beast and for the animals that are in thy land shall all the fruit thereof be food.

“También a tu ganado y a los animales que están en tu tierra, todas sus cosechas les servirán de alimento.

8 ¶ And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty-nine years.

“Contarás también siete semanas de años para ti, siete veces siete años, para que tengas el tiempo de siete semanas de años, es decir, cuarenta y nueve años.

9 T hen shalt thou cause the shofar to sound an alarm on the tenth day of the seventh month; in the day of the reconciliations shall ye cause the shofar to sound throughout all your land.

“Entonces tocarás fuertemente el cuerno de carnero el décimo día del séptimo mes; en el día de la expiación tocaréis el cuerno por toda la tierra.

10 A nd ye shall sanctify the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof; it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every one unto his possession, and ye shall return each one unto his family.

“Así consagraréis el quincuagésimo año y proclamaréis libertad en la tierra para todos sus habitantes. Será de jubileo para vosotros, y cada uno de vosotros volverá a su posesión, y cada uno de vosotros volverá a su familia.

11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you; ye shall not sow nor reap that which grows of itself in it nor fence in thy consecrated vine.

“Tendréis el quincuagésimo año como año de jubileo: no sembraréis, ni segaréis lo que nazca espontáneamente, ni vendimiaréis sus viñas sin podar.

12 F or it is the jubilee; it shall be holy unto you; ye shall eat the fruit of the land.

“Porque es jubileo, os será santo. De lo que produzca el campo, comeréis.

13 I n this year of jubilee ye shall return each one unto his possession.

“En este año de jubileo cada uno de vosotros volverá a su propia posesión.

14 A nd if thou sell anything unto thy neighbour or buy anything of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not oppress one another.

“Asimismo, si vendéis algo a vuestro prójimo, o compráis algo de la mano de vuestro prójimo, no os hagáis mal uno a otro.

15 A ccording to the number of years after the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee.

“Conforme al número de años después del jubileo, comprarás de tu prójimo, y él te venderá conforme al número de años de cosecha.

16 A ccording to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it; for according to the number of the years of the fruits does he sell unto thee.

“Si son muchos los años, aumentarás su precio, y si son pocos los años, disminuirás su precio; porque es un número de cosechas lo que te está vendiendo.

17 Y e shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God; for I am the LORD your God.

“Así que no os hagáis mal uno a otro, sino temed a vuestro Dios; porque yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.

18 E xecute, therefore, my statutes and keep my rights and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety;

“Cumpliréis, pues, mis estatutos y guardaréis mis leyes, para ejecutarlos, para que habitéis seguros en la tierra.

19 a nd the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill and dwell therein in safety.

“Entonces la tierra dará su fruto, comeréis hasta que os saciéis y habitaréis en ella con seguridad.

20 A nd if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow nor gather in our fruits,

“Pero si decís: ‘¿Qué vamos a comer el séptimo año si no sembramos ni recogemos nuestras cosechas ?’,

21 t hen I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.

yo entonces os enviaré mi bendición en el sexto año, de modo que producirá fruto para tres años.

22 A nd ye shall sow the eighth year and eat yet of old fruit; until the ninth year, until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.

“Cuando estéis sembrando en el octavo año, todavía podréis comer cosas de la cosecha anterior, comiendo de ellas hasta el noveno año cuando venga la nueva cosecha.

23 ¶ The land shall not be sold for ever, for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

“Además, la tierra no se venderá en forma permanente, pues la tierra es mía; porque vosotros sois sólo forasteros y peregrinos para conmigo.

24 T herefore, in all the land of your possession, ye shall grant a redemption for the land.

“Así que a toda tierra en posesión vuestra, otorgaréis el derecho de ser redimida.

25 I f thy brother becomes poor and has sold away some of his possession, his redeemer shall come, his closest kinsman, and shall redeem that which his brother sold.

“Si uno de tus hermanos llega a ser tan pobre que tiene que vender parte de su posesión, su pariente más cercano vendrá y redimirá lo que su hermano haya vendido.

26 A nd when the man has no redeemer and is able to stretch forth his hand and find enough for his redemption,

“Y en caso de que un hombre no tenga redentor, pero consiga los medios suficientes para su redención,

27 t hen he shall count the years from the sale thereof and pay that which remains unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.

entonces computará los años desde la venta y devolverá el resto al hombre a quien había vendido la tierra, y así volverá a su posesión.

28 B ut if he is not able to stretch forth his hand and find enough to return unto it, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of the one that has bought it until the year of jubilee; and in the jubilee the land shall go out free, and he shall return unto his possession.

“Pero si no ha hallado medios suficientes para recobrarla por sí mismo, entonces lo que ha vendido permanecerá en manos del comprador hasta el año de jubileo; pero en el jubileo saldrá de su poder, y el vendedor volverá a su posesión.

29 A nd if a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.

“Si un hombre vende una casa de vivienda en una ciudad amurallada, su derecho a redimirla es válido hasta que se cumpla un año de su venta; su derecho de redención dura todo un año.

30 A nd if it is not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to the one that bought it for his descendants; it shall not go out in the jubilee.

“Pero si no se la redimen en el espacio de un año, la casa que está en la ciudad amurallada pasará para siempre a su comprador por todas sus generaciones; no saldrá de su poder en el jubileo.

31 B ut the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.

“Mas las casas de las aldeas que no tienen muro alrededor, serán consideradas como campo abierto; tienen derechos de redención, y son recuperadas en el jubileo.

32 N otwithstanding the cities of the Levites and the houses of the cities of their possession, the Levites may redeem at any time.

“En cuanto a las ciudades de los levitas, ellos tienen un derecho permanente de redención para las casas de las ciudades que son propiedad suya.

33 A nd if a man makes a purchase from the Levites, then the house that was sold and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel.

“Así que lo que pertenece a los levitas se puede redimir, y una casa de su propiedad vendida en la ciudad es recuperada en el jubileo, porque las casas de las ciudades de los levitas son propiedad suya entre los hijos de Israel.

34 B ut the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual possession.

“Pero las tierras de pasto de sus ciudades no se venderán porque son propiedad suya para siempre.

35 A nd if thy brother becomes poor and comes unto thee, then thou shalt receive him; as a stranger, or a sojourner, he shall live with thee.

“En caso de que un hermano tuyo empobrezca y sus medios para contigo decaigan, tú lo sustentarás como a un forastero o peregrino, para que viva contigo.

36 T ake thou no usury of him, or increase; but thou shalt have the fear of thy God, and thy brother shall live with thee.

“No tomes interés y usura de él, mas teme a tu Dios, para que tu hermano viva contigo.

37 T hou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy food for increase.

“No le darás tu dinero a interés, ni tus víveres a ganancia.

38 I AM your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

“Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios, que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto para daros la tierra de Canaán y para ser vuestro Dios.

39 ¶ And when thy brother becomes poor, being with thee, and if he should sell himself unto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serve as a slave.

“ Y si un hermano tuyo llega a ser tan pobre para contigo que se vende a ti, no lo someterás a trabajo de esclavo.

40 A s a hired servant and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee and shall serve thee unto the year of jubilee.

“Estará contigo como jornalero, como si fuera un peregrino; él servirá contigo hasta el año de jubileo.

41 T hen he shall depart free from thy house, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he be restored.

“Entonces saldrá libre de ti, él y sus hijos con él, y volverá a su familia, para que pueda regresar a la propiedad de sus padres.

42 F or they belong to me, I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.

“Porque ellos son mis siervos, los cuales saqué de la tierra de Egipto; no serán vendidos en venta de esclavos.

43 T hou shalt not rule over him with rigor, but shalt fear thy God.

“No te enseñorearás de él con severidad, más bien, teme a tu Dios.

44 B oth thy menslaves and thy maidslaves, which thou shalt have, shall be of the Gentiles that are round about you; of them shall ye buy slaves.

“En cuanto a los esclavos y esclavas que puedes tener de las naciones paganas que os rodean, de ellos podréis adquirir esclavos y esclavas.

45 Y e may also buy of the children of the strangers that live among you and of those of their lineage that are born in your land, who are with you, and they shall be your possession.

“También podréis adquirir los de los hijos de los extranjeros que residen con vosotros, y de sus familias que están con vosotros, que hayan sido engendradas en vuestra tierra; éstos también pueden ser posesión vuestra.

46 A nd ye shall possess them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit as a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever; but over your brethren, the sons of Israel, ye shall not rule over one another with rigor.

“Aun podréis dejarlos en herencia a vuestros hijos después de vosotros, como posesión; os podréis servir de ellos como esclavos para siempre. Pero en cuanto a vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Israel, no os enseñorearéis unos de otros con severidad.

47 A nd if a sojourner or stranger who is with thee becomes rich and thy brother who is with him becomes poor and sells himself unto the stranger or sojourner who is with thee or to the race of the lineage of the stranger,

“Si aumentan los bienes del forastero o del peregrino que mora contigo, y si empobrece tu hermano que está con él, y se vende al forastero que mora contigo, o se vende a los descendientes de la familia de un forastero,

48 a fter he is sold he shall have redemption; one of his brethren shall redeem him;

él tendrá derecho de redención después de ser vendido; uno de sus hermanos podrá redimirlo;

49 e ither his uncle or his uncle’s son shall redeem him; or any that is near of kin unto him of his lineage shall redeem him; or if he is able, he may redeem himself.

o su tío o el hijo de su tío podrán redimirlo; o un pariente cercano de su familia podrá redimirlo; o si prospera, él mismo podrá redimirse.

50 A nd he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee; and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of years, according to the time of a hired servant shall it be with him.

“Entonces él, con su comprador, calculará desde el año en que se vendió a él hasta el año de jubileo, y el precio de su venta corresponderá al número de años. Los días que estará con él serán como los días de un jornalero.

51 I f there are yet many years, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.

“Si aún le quedan muchos años, devolverá parte de su precio de compra en proporción a ellos para su propia redención;

52 A nd if there remain but few years unto the year of jubilee, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.

y si quedan pocos años hasta el año de jubileo, así los calculará con él. En proporción a los años devolverá la cantidad de su redención.

53 A nd as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him; and the other shall not rule with rigor over him in thy sight.

“Lo tratará como quien trabaja a jornal año por año; no se enseñoreará de él con severidad delante de sus ojos.

54 A nd if he is not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubilee, both he and his children with him.

“Aunque no sea redimido por estos medios, todavía saldrá libre en el año de jubileo, él y sus hijos con él.

55 F or the sons of Israel are mine; they are my slaves whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt. I AM your God.

“Pues los hijos de Israel son mis siervos; siervos míos son, a quienes saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
