1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men,

Exhorto, pues, ante todo que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres;

2 f or kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.

por los reyes y por todos los que están en autoridad, para que podamos vivir una vida tranquila y sosegada con toda piedad y dignidad.

3 F or this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,

Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,

4 w ho desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al pleno conocimiento de la verdad.

5 F or there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Porque hay un solo Dios, y también un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Cristo Jesús hombre,

6 w ho gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

quien se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, testimonio dado a su debido tiempo.

7 o f which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Y para esto yo fui constituido predicador y apóstol (digo la verdad en Cristo, no miento) como maestro de los gentiles en fe y verdad.

8 I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.

Por consiguiente, quiero que en todo lugar los hombres oren levantando manos santas, sin ira ni discusiones. Instrucciones para la mujer cristiana

9 ¶ In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing

Asimismo, que las mujeres se vistan con ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia, no con peinado ostentoso, no con oro, o perlas, o vestidos costosos;

10 b ut with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).

sino con buenas obras, como corresponde a las mujeres que profesan la piedad.

11 L et the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection.

Que la mujer aprenda calladamente, con toda obediencia.

12 F or I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a mature man, but to be at rest.

Yo no permito que la mujer enseñe ni que ejerza autoridad sobre el hombre, sino que permanezca callada.

13 F or Adam was formed first, then Eve.

Porque Adán fue creado primero, después Eva.

14 A nd Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;

Y Adán no fue el engañado, sino que la mujer, siendo engañada completamente, cayó en transgresión.

15 n otwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty.

Pero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permanece en fe, amor y santidad, con modestia.
