1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men,

Ante todo, exhorto a que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres;

2 f or kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.

por los reyes y por todos los que ocupan altos puestos, para que vivamos con tranquilidad y reposo, y en toda piedad y honestidad.

3 F or this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,

Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,

4 w ho desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y lleguen a conocer la verdad.

5 F or there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Porque hay un solo Dios, y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, que es Jesucristo hombre,

6 w ho gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

el cual se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, de lo cual se dio testimonio a su debido tiempo.

7 o f which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Para esto fui constituido predicador y apóstol (digo la verdad en Cristo, no miento), y maestro de los no judíos en la fe y la verdad.

8 I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.

Por tanto, quiero que los hombres oren en todas partes, y levanten manos santas, sin ira ni contienda.

9 ¶ In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing

Quiero también que las mujeres se vistan con ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia, y no con peinados ostentosos, ni con oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos,

10 b ut with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).

sino con buenas obras, como corresponde a las mujeres que profesan la piedad.

11 L et the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection.

Que la mujer aprenda en silencio y con toda sujeción,

12 F or I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a mature man, but to be at rest.

pues no permito que la mujer enseñe ni ejerza dominio sobre el hombre, sino que guarde silencio.

13 F or Adam was formed first, then Eve.

Porque primero fue formado Adán, y después Eva;

14 A nd Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;

y el engañado no fue Adán, sino que la mujer, al ser engañada, incurrió en transgresión.

15 n otwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty.

Pero se salvará al engendrar hijos, si es que con modestia permanece en la fe, el amor y la santificación.
