1 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou didst break.

El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Pule dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y yo escribiré sobre esas tablas las palabras que estaban en las primeras tablas, las que hiciste pedazos.

2 A nd be ready for tomorrow and come up in the morning unto Mount Sinai and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

Así que prepárate para mañana, y sube temprano al monte Sinaí. Preséntate ante mí en la cumbre del monte.

3 A nd no man shall come up with thee; neither let anyone be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the sheep nor the cows feed before the mount.

Que no suba nadie contigo, ni se asome nadie en todo el monte. Tampoco debe haber ovejas ni bueyes paciendo delante del monte.»

4 A nd he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up unto Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

Moisés pulió dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y por la mañana se levantó y subió al monte Sinaí, tal y como el Señor se lo ordenó. En sus manos llevaba las dos tablas de piedra.

5 ¶ And the LORD descended in a cloud and was with him there proclaiming the name of I AM.

Y el Señor descendió en la nube, y estuvo allí con él, proclamando su nombre.

6 A nd as the LORD passed by before him, he proclaimed, I AM, I AM strong, merciful, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth,

Luego el Señor pasó delante de Moisés, y proclamó: «¡EL SEÑOR! ¡EL SEÑOR! ¡Dios misericordioso y clemente! ¡Lento para la ira, y grande en misericordia y verdad!

7 k eeping mercy for thousands, letting go of iniquity and rebellion and sin; and by no means will I absolve the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons’ sons, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

¡Es misericordioso por mil generaciones! ¡Perdona la maldad, la rebelión y el pecado, pero de ningún modo declara inocente al malvado! ¡Castiga la maldad de los padres en los hijos y en los hijos de los hijos, hasta la tercera y cuarta generación!»

8 T hen Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth and worshipped.

Con gran rapidez Moisés bajó la cabeza hacia el suelo, y adoró.

9 A nd he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us, for this is a stiffnecked people, and forgive our iniquity and our sin and possess us.

Luego dijo: «Señor, si me he ganado tu favor, quédate en medio de nosotros. Éste es un pueblo de dura cerviz, así que perdona nuestra maldad y nuestro pecado, ¡y recíbenos como tu pueblo!»

10 ¶ And he said, Behold, I make a covenant before all thy people: I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom thou art shall see the work of the LORD; for it shall be a terrible thing that I will do with thee.

El Señor contestó: «Mira, yo hago un pacto delante de todo tu pueblo. Voy a realizar maravillas nunca antes vistas en toda la tierra, ni en nación alguna. Todo el pueblo, en medio del cual tú estás, verá las obras tan sorprendentes que yo, el Señor, haré contigo. Advertencia contra la idolatría de Canaán

11 K eep that which I command thee this day; behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

»Tú cumple lo que hoy te mando. Verás que voy a echar de tu presencia a los amorreos y cananeos, y a los hititas, ferezeos, jivitas y jebuseos.

12 K eep thyself lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where thou must enter lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee;

Pero ten cuidado. No hagas alianzas con los habitantes de la tierra a la que vas a entrar, para que no te sean un tropiezo.

13 b ut ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves;

Ustedes derribarán sus altares y harán pedazos sus estatuas y sus imágenes de Asera.

14 f or thou shalt worship no other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

De ninguna manera te inclinarás ante ningún otro dios, porque yo, el Señor, soy un Dios celoso. Mi nombre es “Dios celoso”.

15 T herefore thou shalt not make a covenant with the inhabitants of that land because they shall fornicate after their gods and do sacrifice unto their gods, and they shall call thee, and thou shalt eat of their sacrifices

Por lo tanto, no harás alianza con los habitantes de esa tierra, porque ustedes podrían prostituirse al ir en pos de sus dioses, y entonces ofrecerán sacrificios a sus dioses, y los invitarán a comer de sus sacrificios,

16 o r take of their daughters unto thy sons, and when their daughters go fornicating after their gods they shall make thy sons also fornicate after their gods.

o casarán a sus hijas con tus hijos, y al prostituirse sus hijas por seguir a sus dioses, harán que también tus hijos se prostituyan al seguir a los dioses de ellas.

17 T hou shalt make thee no molten gods.

»No te harás dioses de metal fundido. Fiestas anuales

18 ¶ The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib; for in the month Abib thou didst come out from Egypt.

»Celebrarás la fiesta de los panes sin levadura. Comerás pan sin levadura durante siete días, como te lo he ordenado, en el tiempo señalado del mes de Aviv; porque fue en ese mes de Aviv cuando saliste de Egipto.

19 A ll that opens the womb is mine; and every firstborn among thy livestock, whether of cow or of sheep, that is male.

»Todo primogénito me pertenece, lo mismo que toda primera cría de tu ganado, sea de vaca o de oveja, siempre y cuando sea macho.

20 B ut the firstborn of an ass thou shalt ransom with a lamb, and if thou ransom him not, then shalt thou cut off his head. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt ransom, and none shall appear before me empty.

A la primera cría del asno la redimirás con un cordero; pero, si no lo redimes, le romperás el cuello. »Rescatarás a todos tus hijos primogénitos. Y nadie debe presentarse ante mí con las manos vacías.

21 S ix days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt cease; in ploughing time and in harvest thou shalt cease.

»Seis días trabajarás, pero el séptimo día descansarás. Aun si debieras arar o segar, descansarás.

22 A nd thou shalt keep the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of the reaping of the wheat, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.

»Celebrarás también la fiesta de las semanas, la fiesta de las primicias de la siega del trigo, y la fiesta de la cosecha al terminar el año.

23 T hree times in the year shall all your males appear before the GOD who is Lord of all, the God of Israel.

Tres veces al año se presentarán todos tus varones delante de mí, tu Señor y Dios, el Dios de Israel.

24 F or I will cast the Gentiles out of thy presence and enlarge thy borders; neither shall anyone covet thy land when thou shalt go up to be seen before the LORD thy God three times a year.

Porque yo arrojaré de tu presencia a las naciones, y ensancharé tu territorio, y cuando subas a presentarte ante mí, el Señor tu Dios, tres veces al año, nadie codiciará tu tierra.

25 T hou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice upon anything leavened; neither shall any of the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

»No ofrecerás con la sangre de mi sacrificio nada que tenga levadura. Tampoco se dejará hasta el día siguiente nada del animal sacrificado en la fiesta de la pascua.

26 T he first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not cook a kid in his mother’s milk.

»Llevarás a la casa del Señor tu Dios los primeros frutos de tu tierra. »No guisarás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.» Moisés y las tablas de la ley

27 A nd the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words; for according to these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Pon estas palabras por escrito, porque el pacto que he hecho contigo y con Israel tiene como base estas palabras.»

28 ¶ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Y Moisés estuvo allí, con el Señor, cuarenta días y cuarenta noches. No comió pan, ni bebió agua, pero sí escribió en las tablas de piedra las palabras del pacto, es decir, los diez mandamientos.

29 A nd it came to pass, as Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, while he came down from the mount, that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone after he had talked with him.

Y sucedió que, cuando Moisés bajó del monte Sinaí con las dos tablas del testimonio en su mano, no sabía que, después de haber hablado con Dios, la tez de su rostro resplandecía.

30 A nd when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

Aarón y todos los hijos de Israel miraron a Moisés, y vieron que la piel de su rostro resplandecía, así que tuvieron miedo de acercarse a él.

31 A nd Moses called them, and Aaron and all the princes of the congregation returned unto him, and Moses talked with them.

Pero Moisés los llamó, y cuando Aarón y todos los príncipes de la congregación regresaron, Moisés les habló.

32 A nd afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount Sinai.

Después se acercaron todos los hijos de Israel, y Moisés les ordenó cumplir con todo lo que el Señor le había dicho en el monte Sinaí.

33 A nd when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.

Y cuando Moisés terminó de hablar con ellos, se puso un velo sobre el rostro.

34 B ut when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he would take the veil off until he came out. And as he came out, he would speak unto the sons of Israel that which he was commanded.

Cuando Moisés se presentaba ante el Señor para hablar con él, se quitaba el velo mientras estaba adentro, y al salir les comunicaba a los hijos de Israel lo que el Señor le había ordenado.

35 A nd the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses that the skin of Moses’ face shone, and Moses would put the veil upon his face again until he would go in to speak with him.

Al mirar los hijos de Israel el rostro de Moisés, veían que la piel de su rostro resplandecía; pero Moisés volvía a cubrir su rostro con un velo, hasta que entraba de nuevo a hablar con Dios.
